So... do I get to send the twins on a proper combat mission, or what?
This coming mission might be a meat grinder, but ask yourself this: "Does it have to be?"

Someone could suggest the Mako.... Johnny.
You know.... "Uh, one last thing before we leave. What about the Mako?"

Spoiler
I said a non-biotic should carry it. That means one of the non-Commandos. It's pretty heavy. Team boom gets a grenade launcher in addition to the Hellbringer.
Battle against Krogan. You know, Asari "aren't built" for taking things like them head on. In reality, no one is. This is why... heavy weapons.

Oh, well I presumed you meant Iole was supposed to carry it. She's heavy weapons and she's not really a biotic.

Something that dangerous gets nowhere near Jenus.
I was thinking someone like Vayne.
Now the Mako..... I'm putting this up for a vote.... Due to "reasons" our mechanics and technicians have modified it in the shuttle bay. We've improved it so that it can be dropped from orbit. The wheels are enclosed and protected for this operation. It now has a heat shield on its underside. We know it has thrusters. It'll use these to slow its descent once it hits atmosphere and touch down for a relatively soft landing. Will require the use of 25 units of omnigel after landing, but don't worry, Baird.... er whoever has mechanical skills on the team can effect repairs.
Frank would have been able to shout "Express elevator to hell, going down!" Or Johnny can still shout that.
Do I have buy in on this mod? Yes? or No.

And here, I thought omni-directional rear thrusters were cool enough. As neat as it sounds, I appreciate the M-35 in its purest form. Any more, any less, and the whole thing is just ruined. Ruined, I say! That thing's a goddamn work of art. Think mustache on the Mona Lisa. Or a giant dong jutting out of the Statue of Liberty.
"Drop us in the Mako!" totally loses its magic when it becomes "Drop us from orbit in the Mako!"
More convenient, sure, but now there's no ultra high-speed, low altitude pass to drop it off.
I gotta say no on this one.

I was reading the Wikia, and they said the Mako interior is cramped but can carry at least 4 people as demonstrated by Liz Baynham being with Shepard and two squadmates on Feros. This time we need to carry 6 and one of them is and old Krogan who probably passes gas frequently.
In ME3 the APC that Anderson arrives on scene after Shepard kills the destroyer has seating capacity of 6 and no gun. I just watched the cut scene.
So the Mako isn't that big. The reason I'm mentioning this is that the Janiri, while it can fly in atmosphere, it is larger than the SR-2 and won't be able to maneuver as close to the ground as the SR-1. Besides there's nothing like announcing to all the Krogan "we're coming for you" like a light cruiser entering atmosphere then doing a full thruster burn over the city while it leaves.
We have two shuttles. So what I'm thinking is dropping four people behind enemy lines in the Mako from a shuttle. After all that's how we got it aboard. It'll be a steep descent due to gravity. We'll drop it, then the shuttle returns to the ship.
Team Mako: Naleena, Vayne, Johnny (our driver if he's driven one of these contraptions), and either Essul or Arian. The one who doesn't go with us goes with the Commando team.
Going with the Commandos are: Irina, Faed, possibly Anika, and either Essul or Arian. Faed will handle any tech. His weapons are side arm and SMG + tech drones. Legion is very experienced in combat.
So before I go and start writing.... thoughts?

Bah! Plenty of room on the floor and each other's lap. We can get the whole team!
Aaaaand I much prefer the shuttle option. Far less convenient. Makes more sense on such short notice too.
Ha. Could you imagine the events of ME3 if the Alliance just began raining M-35 Makos from the sky like the reapers do with ground troops? The war would be like, five minutes long.
"Oh no! A harvester!"
*Mako rain*
"Never mind."

Yeah, we have to do a fill-in-the blank with that if we're going to have a story reason, obviously influenced by game design.
"Why Kodiak and no Mako?"
"Because (ME2) shuttles make it better and stealth so we can go right to the location and probes for exploring."
"But Reaper War? Tanks? Some sort of troop transport, fighting unit or is it all troops with Mass Effect guns and shuttles?"
"Uh, well, lip service to Mako in our commercial. Let's face it the Mako is awesome. But...we'll uh, pretend there just aren't enough of them? Which is why we have those troop transports. And a lot of shuttles? I dunnofukitall...."
The Mako is the best. And darn it if they don't know that because they are bringing back the supe'd up version of that. Supposedly it carries 6 (did anyone making a cartoon ever follow lore? Did BioWare even ever follow their own lore? AHEM RELAY ON THE CITADEL WHY DO YOU HAVE TO RUN TO THE BEAM? *we forgot?*).
No need to drop it from orbit at all though within our own story lore. The Janiri is literally a stealth, atmosphere capable craft. It can drop that thing close enough on a run and probably not even raise an eyebrow. Or if it does, tough tootle because probably a dropped Mako won't even be detected by the time it matters. Sorta like dropping paratroopers isn't done by stealth planes anyway and the fact that people know they dropped troops doesn't necessarily make them be able to instantly find all those spec ops before they hit the ground and the enemy is pressed from both sides. Or the spec ops disappear into the terrain. That's how I imagine it. Plus you can have that awesome flying run the Normandy makes as it drops the Mako, but our own story's version. Awesome ![]()
Overall we're focusing on the Mako, so...
...I basically like this idea fine. Damnit, Iole can't fly the shuttles if they leave!. I think the twins should be part of the second team (and if I research it, I think I came up with a stupid name for the team leader when Team Boom threw their first party way back when...). Everybody will wear their Sunday's best.
Mind you, you have 9 Commandos as the two teams now. Team Boom is: Mira, Jenus, Ereba, Tallis, Iole, and another team of 4. Plus the one (whoever) character going with them. Probably Essul? Arian hates everyone so while Mira and/or Jenus can deal with him, honestly I think Naleena, Vayne and Johnny deserve to be bothered by him. Plus Essul is technically second in command. The twins would have requested Johnny but apparently he's so much man that Naleena's got to have him on the team. Oh, crap, also Anika. Probably Anika is on the team. You literally just maxed out a Scythe, and probably you'll want to use two Scythe's now or someone's Kodiak because packing like exactly 12 people in a Scythe might be tempting fate. Mira can be team leader on one and Essul can be team leader on the other, until they hit the ground? Something like that.
Morgan...I'll come up with something. RedBelle I'm sure can speak up, but I presume a busy schedule. So we'll figure something out. Sonax. THOSE BASTARDS. Maybe Morgan and/or Jess has a connection that makes this make some tricky sense to why they can get info. It wouldn't be past an ex-Shadow Broker and/or Pirate Captain.
@Terca. Nice! Deidrus making pizza....

Two shuttles. TWO!
Are we really going to pass up a chance to zip around in an extra one?

Alright a wall rattling pass with the Janiri where bits of concrete fall from the ceilings for the Mako drop. I'll make it fun. Something that large won't even have to worry about AA fire. We'll fit in five for reasons. Vayne will take up two spaces.
So Naleena, Vayne, Johnny, Arian, and I'll move Irina over because she's former Alliance and I can say she knows how to operate the turret.
Everyone else in the shuttles.

VERA had one of her more "human" moments with Jenus, and she was mocking her.
VERA: "Boss, may I speak to you for a moment?"
Naleena: "Of course, VERA, what is it?"
VERA: "I seem to have angered Commando Stasia while attempting to lighten the mood of our conversation after her armor testing."
Naleena: "What did you do?"
VERA: "I used sarcasm."
Naleena: "Not a good idea."
VERA: "She called me 'circuit brains' and suggested that they used old noodles when they made me."
Naleena: "So you retaliated."
VERA: "It seemed a good idea at the time."
Naleena: "What did it accomplish?"
VERA: "Nothing, but it was quite amusing."
Naleena: "So how did it end."
VERA: "I got the last word."
Naleena: "One step closer to organic behavior, VERA. It's a slippery slope."
VERA: "I will take that under advisement and be more careful in the future. Thank you, Boss."
Naleena: .....

VERA is easily my favorite synthetic character in the whole RP. Not that there's a whole lot of others... But still.
I remember when she was just a shuttle. Just look at 'er now, a top-of-the-line, faster than light, gigantic death machine. They grow up so fast!

I have some ideas. Like having the Hammer of Dawn and Forsworn acting as a sort of police in dhazil. Maybe some head buttting going on between the ones keeping order and some of wrunds soliders. Also talking.
We rarely get krogan talking stuff in mass effect. We be cool to have a period of talkie stuff before **** explodes and the blackguard show up in full force.

Uh, guys. I'm going to have to bow out for awhile. Study for the next exam is becoming a priority and I haven't the time to come on and post responses. I might make it on every once in a while but even I've noticed my posting has slowed down alot lately.
Seeing as I can't throw up content I think it's fairer to the story if I say that I won't be around as much. I'll still be reading but I need to focus my efforts on passing this damn exam.
Good Writing ![]()
