Okay, I'm not writing what I did again, f**k that.  Here's the long and short of it

  1. Reassigning another turian spectre to the Audron let's us keep the ship, let Terca come back in if he ever does, and alleviates us of either asari overload, or salarian interference with our characters.
  2. Nobody ever said a Spectre needs a military frigate assigned to them.  We need a ship, but a new Spectre might be fine being aboard someone else's vessel as long as they could get the job done
  3. Whether mutiny, a reassigned spectre, a new ship, whatever, it should follow the plot and not be a bunch of people bailing.  The plot should unify the characters, or be enough cause to do so.  I for one am up for a new kind of plot, but that would have to transcend simple personal pursuits, unless all characters decide they like each other a lot and will stick together.  That's hardest for the new characters.
  4. I would love to create a turian spectre character, just saying.  And it would be nice to invent a turian character that gets away from the typical turian cultural mold.

My preference is that this be open ended.  While there should be a driving plot to unify the characters, I would prefer it not to be set in a time constraint imposed by the video game story of Shepard.  We all know that within a couple of years, there's going to be a Reaper invasion, but even that can be handled if we don't feel forced to have our story constantly dovetail with Shepards.

Those are my ideas.  What else do you all think?

Plot Twist:  Frank convinces everyone he is a spectre, they follow his lead.  The mission fails and everyone dies.  The end. But hey, that's only if you guys are up for it.

In all seriousness though, I understand how it would be difficult to ghost for someone that long, but Deidrus as a character seems rather straightforward.  He's a determined, professional ass-kicker that gets the job done no matter the cost, right?  Pretty much what a spectre is expected to do.  Other than brutally killing that salarian on Omega(which was pretty awesome), he's been the same character throughout.  At least that's what I picked up from reading through the RP thread.

Mutiny is always an option, but it does have its drawbacks. The Council and the Turians frown on stealing multibillion credit ships and leaving Spectres on uninhabited low tech worlds. Then there's the need for a crew. Fortunately, VERA is unshackled and we could connect her to the Audron where she could compensate for any slacking or missing crew member.

FYI, I've got an entire plot drawn up we could do. It involves reapers. It picks up right after the end of ME2. It is an Alternate Universe Mass Effect 3 because things haven't happened yet, and at that point nothing is canon. It was going to be the ME3 rewrite project I was working on that fell through. We drop Shepard and cast from it, substitute ourselves, and simply reassign Deidrus.

Naleena gets inducted as Spectre for 1) Omega; 2) service to the Council she's done that she wasn't aware of since I'd be giving the missions if we were to do this. The Dalatrass will have a cow.

The reapers have not invaded the galaxy, and there are a huge number of clues to be uncovered. Includes study of indoctrination which I've rewritten to make it really creepy. I have this thing pretty well sketched out from beginning to end. I know the key locations of everything. I have the factions drawn up. So just letting you know it's available. This thing is designed for multiple POV and multiple groups.

Everyone fits so far.

We need an archaeologist.

We need a Quarian.

We need a scientist.

My batarian could fit well into that. Not the roles we need, but in general into the setting.

My Chinese fortune for today.... "Your road to glory will be rocky, but fulfilling." Great. This means we'll be playing a tournament at this one golf course I know. There are a lot of rocks on it.

I will write a longer response after hearing from some others, but I have some thoughts.

One was that we don't have to have a Spectre on our side, per se.  We could be looking for a spectre, for either good or bad reasons....

That's a pretty neat concept. This could actually work- the thing is, after the Battle for London, I don't want another battle for London lol. Other than that totally good.

Having another spectre might be interesting- but who would play them? EDIT- Oh sorry shotgun I didn't see that part where you mentioned Naleena. That would be awesome though.

Deidrus could have a lesser role, not necessarily be gone. Like Giles was from Buffy, occasionally coming in to do kickass things?

We could have ministories and arcs like, the Leviathan one, or maybe the fake Shepard from the Citadel DLC somehow gets away and they chase after him? And then he captures someone, and he fights the group, etc. The ideas are pretty infinite.

So, if it's ok, I'm thinking about trying to make an intro for Avan. Not something that'll intertwine with the plot- but maybe in a bar on Duellos, to accomplish that he's around.

Go ahead and introduce although to forewarn I don't know if a stop at the local bar is in the cards.  We'll have to work something out.

For the plot, thinking about it, there can be several.  As long as the characters have a reason to be together, it doesn't have to be one singular plot, though I wouldn't pursue multiple plots at once, even if we split up groups of characters.

Hmm, well I mean as in he is alone. I don't want to involve the other characters yet until we've discussed things a bit more.

I agree it would be best to keep Deidrus around, but in a lesser role, as stated above.

Despite Chasing Spectres being 37 pages long, and written over several months, chronologically, it hasn't progressed very far.  A good majority of it seems to be crew interaction, with a just a few major events, and it seems to be working. Deidrus just needs to make an appearance once in awhile, to remind us he's still there.

That's the thing. Who wants to take orders from a NPC?

I have some ideas that could work. I need to pull them all together. This plot is rather complex and requires multiple POV, and really could use multiple ships. We actually could use the Audron as a place to store characters we're not using for a time.

If we do something different, I think I am more encouraged by the following:

  1. Writers get to be the lead on a plot.  There doesn't have to be 'The One Plot'  as long as the characters have good enough reasons to stick together.  That's really up to each writer anyway.
  2. If the ship is not the Audron, the ship, or ships (there should probably not be a fleet of starships, maybe two total, plus all these ancillary vessels we have personally which should be carried on board), don't have to be an official military vessel.  They might have been military in the past, and there are plenty of ships that arm themselves against threats.  But this way there isn't crew from one major species only on board, the ship can be designed more or less by the writers without having to fit one of the limited designs from the MEU, and doesn't have to have one aesthetic. Plus, you know those crazy sci fi engineers.  They can do anything.  Who says the hyperdrive isn't fast enough if you don't give it a good punch...even if it fails you often.
  3. Regarding spectre's who knows?  Again, we don't even have to be stuck on that much.  The more I think about it, I can personally say I don't like the idea of mystery ghost written Deidrus wandering around.  Personally, I wouldn't like to write him.  But if someone else does, I recommend one person take him over as their own character until and if Terca comes back.  I'd rather have a character spectre, or have us hunting a spectre, etc.  That my opinion.

And we should probably come up with a way of resolving these decisions.  Voting?  Total tyranny?  Loudest voice? :) As an rpg and not a single person's story, it probably works best if we are all in agreement.  If we can't agree, the benefit of sticking to the original plot is that as much as I am not a fan of it, at least it is already in place and we tacitly agreed to pursue it.

Oh, one note on lore:  I think we can stay away from the main story but not deviate too much on lore.  There's plenty of room to deviate because it is so haphazard on different things.  But the universe itself gets too confusing if it gets deviated from an intense amount, plus not that we argue a lot but it could lead to arguements.  For example, I'm fine with Shotgun Julia explaining to me that she prefers that gunpowder weapons still be in use for certain characters, and they can kill people.  I'm fine with story driven use of barriers, though there should be a point for things like phasic rounds which exist in the MEU...both of these have been discussions in the past.  I don't think it is a smashing idea to do things like say the Reapers don't exist, or the Salarians took over the council, or there's another human spectre, etc.  jmo.  That doesn't mean I think we shouldn't be creative.  More that as (take it easy this is my opinion) as broken as the Mac attack plot is, and as screwed up as certain things are, at a certain point we'd be making up not the MEU and I guess I could see that leading to problems.

Okay, no more negativity. Onward!

And to answer the question - the reapers exist. They're just a lot creepier than you saw. Things are a lot creepier than we saw in the Mac Attack.

No apology needed.  Let's get to the Audron and at least get Frank Eli met.

There's other stuff to suggest, but I'll leave that in a little bit.

Whoever posts next, I say feel free to get us back to the Audron.
