Well... The assumption I made was that since there was going to be a need for things on the planet to be 'dealt with' that there wouldn't be time to recover the armor plating... And since the armor is not metal-based it would be impossible to lift out of the chasm in any reasonable amount of time since magnetism won't work.

As vayne put it, we'd need to pick up each plate by hand, stack them up, and ferry them one load after another via the shuttles. Which would take a long time to go back and forth to do.

The armor -- it was a case of "if we can't have it, no one can."  This is what happens when you have a pissing contest between two Spectres, and neither one sees reason. Xanthe didn't see reason until the shipment was lost. Androkan didn't see reason in the beginning. Now a very expensive shipment lies at the bottom of the canyon.

 

And the words between Irina and Jess would be initiated by Jess if at all. Irina would be too busy joking it up with her old buddies.

Eh, I feel like this will come out at the Citadel as being one of those moments where two of their Spectres are giving opposing directives and suddenly now they are both pissed at being put into difficult situations. I feel like the Council finds itself in this situation fairly often. That's probably also why there aren't a lot of Spectres.

I imagine Eteon and the Alien crew in a waiting room with the Commandos and an awkward silence as the Council meeting is passing. The only sound being made the palpable anger emanating off of Jess and conversations between Irina and the odd Commando.

Back when we first started this I put forward the idea that Jess was a made woman and that she'd lose everything. Then have to fight and use every dirty trick in the book to get it back.

 

So thus far I'd say she's right on track. I just never imagined pulling the cork after a disaster of a train robbery. I decided not to do it before since she'd be unable to function for the mission.
