How could my character enter?

Well, since you made your character an Ardat Yakshi, you're going to have to have other skills, and really keep your AY side hidden since you're going to be on an Asari ship with an Asari Spectre.

Make up a story that gets you noticed by the crew. OR. detail a skillset that would be useful on a ship.

To give you an idea of what we have: http://forum.bioware...dex/?p=16813009

There are ways you could enter: you could make yourself a story and have that intersect our plot say on Illium which is going to be our first stop - Nos Astra. We're going to Synthetic Insights first. It's a short stop. We can do a story OR you can modify your profile with some additional skills so that you might be in one of Naleena's dossier's. If you are in a dossier, she'll recruit you, but to be in a dossier you'll have to have something special to add to the team.

I need a scientist/researcher.

Erm Valkyrie is very seductive. She is a very good spy... what about espionage? I mean she can dominate minds Secretly. She is very discreet. She is also convincing because of her allure so she can go be hide enemy lines and infiltrate etc

Those hinge on her being an Ardat-Yakshi though. If she were to be overtly seductive to the point where something was off someone would notice. If she were to attempt to dominate minds to get on in the first place people would notice a change in behaviour and a suddenly-appearing Asari would point to something off.

I guess you have a point but she is beautiful. I won't dominate minds in the public eye :P

Anyway she is an asset to the team, she haves two biotic shield abilities :D

Working on another Frank post.  There's a good chance it's going to make things worse.

"Don't worry, buddy, I'll get us out of this mess."

Sure you will, Frank.  Sure you will.

It shouldn't interfere with Essul.  Let me know when C-SEC is done roughing him up though, because it could later on.

SGJ's opinion on Ardat-Yakshi:

Mass Effect 2: There are only 3 Ardat Yakshi in the galaxy. Two of them are in the monastery. One was Morinth. All of them were Samara's daughters.

Mass Effect 3: Suddenly Ardat Yakshi affected 1% of the Asari population, and it couldn't be diagnosed until it manifested, and it couldn't be treated unless it manifested, and by then it was too late to be treated. Quality Bioware writing. This is the Wile E. Coyote Theory of plot writing. It works fine until you think about it. If you think about it the entire sub plot falls into a very very deep canyon.

Basically it was a mook generator for the reapers. One cannot imagine that there would be so much shame that they would allow 50 million Ardat Yakshis to wander around on Thessia. One cannot imagine that the Asari would not have a "search for a cure" or any kind of in utero diagnosis and treatment - shame of the condition cannot be that great when there are 50 million of them wandering around sucking the life out of others. It would be a pretty common thing. I cannot imagine the Asari Republics confining them in Concentration Camps. 50 million do not fit in a monastery on Leuss as Samara described and as the Codex continued to describe, and they do not volunteer to be killed. The codex however never mentioned 50 million Ardat Yakshi. Just 1% of the Asari population, and the writers were hoping no one would bother to do the math. Thus the bottom falls out of the plot and it tumbles to the bottom of a very deep canyon.

Fortunately we're in Mass Effect 2 at this time, and Mass Effect 3 hasn't been written yet so we get to ignore such plot foolishness.

-----------------

Now back to the character in question.

I wrote an ardat-yakshi character, however I also wrote that there were multiple levels of the syndrome. There was Type 1 which was very mild. This affected over 99% of those with the syndrome. The person could meld but it would leave the partner feeling very drained. It was treatable with medication, but the medication had to be taken daily. There was research for a permanent cure for this type. Type 2 was more serious, and could leave victims in a vegetative state. Then there was Type 3 which was the exceedingly rare type like Morinth, Rila, and Falare. Types 2 and 3 were the ones confined to the monastery.

My character had type 1. She was very conflicted with it. It was part of her character. It kept her from things she wanted. She was a commando. The condition added to her character, but it wasn't her whole character.

So again - do you really need the character to be an Ardat Yakshi.

Isn't this kinda trying to back break the setting for other players though?  I'm not trying to start crap and I do agree that the ardat yakshi thing being improved, sour of the way you wrote it but maybe tweaked? But basically you're making an argument to throw out canon stats in order to gate player from making a character. I've been involved with rps where this has happened, such as limiting n7 shadows/slayers or keeping folks from playing collectors, but that was because those rps were flooded with players wanting to use swords and collectors didn't fit a post me3 setting.

This is one player being said to change their character due to a personal preference imo. :P I felt this needed to be said,  even if it deosnt change the result. Hope theres no hard feeling about this.

I think it's just a question Sgj is asking. And Ardat yakshi will always need definition due to lore weirdness.

For me, always, the rules are what should apply: http://forum.bioware...-ooc-the-rules/

And then we work together to get a new character in because we share the love!

The Ardat Yakshi, I think, should have a good motive to want to work with a group, and in return, perhaps in that character background is something we need as a whole to want to include her. In other words, somehow Valkyrie holds an integral part if the story and finds the other characters fulfill her needs as well.

Brainstorming here, I haven't gotten to specifics yet.

At some point in the story incredibly powerful individuals become more and more an asset on their own aside from flexing muscle, but being 'born' with that merit isn't useful right now.

She's not old as far as Asari go so while she may have been trained as a child she has probably atrophied on a few fronts in her studies due to lack of practice. if she has been hiding away in the Corners of Omega then it could also be the case that she isn't particularly skilled in ship-based or combat-based things. She's a warm body at the end of the day so could work as 'muscle' but as-is an extraneous solution is probably necessary.

Thinking on it and speaking personally maybe changing her from an ardat yakshi to a asari with Reave might work better. IDK it should be your choice wither way.

Dahlia - Asari: Rogue/Vanguard

Irina - Human: Soldier

VERA - Ship's AI - NPC.
