Sorry I haven't been able to post anything so far, I'm just unable to find the time at the moment.
This weekend I should have something up.

That's alright, there has been stuff going on but we aren't even headed in the direction of Omega yet (grabbing people still x.x). If you are going to be posting infrequently for a while you and Bronitonian could talk about doing stuff on Omega. Then you two have people to play off of and can move that plot forward. It's up to you though.
I changed Adelaide... AGAIN. But it's a much less drastic change. Just replaced her sunglasses (I noticed someone else had a fascination with them and I didn't wanna steal, haha) with a visor that I think fits her more. Also, made her hair black. (I always knew she was mixed but never really thought about it. I'm thinking Korean father, Brazilian mother.) But yeah, that's all I really changed.

I think Alistair or Kaidan are the top Bioware hotties. (judging from posts on my tumblr dash)
I also think that I should get to my work rather than gawking at fictional men but eh

There's nothing wrong with gawking at fictional men. So long as you don't try to kiss them. It's breaking that fourth wall or something.
Also, I'll wait to type up the Kanae speed up until you guys get to wherever you're going. I'm not even sure where that shuttle is headed.
For the sake of time because the setup has taken so long I'm thinking that they're just going to go straight to the tower instead of poking around Ber'ah. The tower might take two days anyways, going to Ber'ah will just push in more time when we already know the outcome.
I got you. Most likely, when you guys get within a twenty kilometer radius of the club, you'll set off a writer's convenience. The VI will contact you in some way.
Ooooh, kill 'em. Ber'ah is done.

Ber'ah is only the club name =P. And he'll die. Though for time sake, I may skip the actual kill scene to get to the recruiting.
Me? Make a mistake? No... you must be seeing things...

Well, because I see two of my writing companions in here, is there room for another?
I'd have to catch up on everything and I would, but I'd figure I'd ask first.
Of course there's room! Haha, we're still getting started, over here. Feel free to jump in whenever.
If you read the first couple pages of the RP discussion thread you will see the ideas that made up the plan for Chasing Spectres. Otherwise the RP is not too too long for it to take too long to read. If you get the idea you want to join feel free to submit your character and if you have any questions about the RP you can ask me or post the question here in this thread.
The place where a group of chars is going to be picked up is at Omega, which is going to be the next stop for the main group after the Citadel for their official briefing. If you start your char off on Omega there are other RPers with characters that you can play with.
Not saying this to deter or say no, but I think Zeph put the limit on Biotics. Normies and techies are fine I think though. Zeph, I think you can clarify that.
Though, I think we should try and differentiate the techies. You know, just so we don't have EVERYONE being good engineers/infiltrators.
What I think we're really lacking are soldiers.
Yeah, I'd said that I would like to see a few more characters that aren't biotics and asked if there could be some more Tech or otherwise. Of the characters submitted at the time ~66% were biotic. Of 9 characters, 6 are biotics, two are tech-exclusive, one is Combat. A handful of the biotics have a few tech skills.
And I agree that there is a soldier deficit. Bro's char is the only one that is really a Soldier type.
Also, maybe it's just me but I think that Naleena is perhaps a bit OP, in terms of other characters. It's just that she can do EVERYTHING. In terms of skill, she hacks like Kasumi, has biotics like Aria (I'm guessing that's where the "boss" level of biotics comes from) but even if not, she's a powerful biotic, she has the skill of the Kai Leng+Thane, mastery of unarmed combat, has a shuttle/ship that has an EDI inside, and is overall the most powerful character as well as unorthodox one. Not to mention, she already has a Black Widow, which is one of the best sniper rifles and skill in using it. I know her age can justify her amount of skill but still, I don't think backstory should justify one character being way more powerful than the rest.
Maybe Julia is working a way to take her down a notch but right now, I think she seems to be hella OP, in comparison to other characters.
And I'm heading to bed. I'll check back on this when I get home. Good night!
I think Julia has her that way because she became that way through previous rp's. I think she said that at one point that Julia was used in other forum based rp and she was just carrying her over, but I could be mistaken. I'll admit, with her skill set, she does seem OP but I think she can justify most of it as age/experience. It kind of falls on Zeph I guess to decide the limiters for her since its his story.
I've kinda already spoken with Toni (Wiggly) about my views on OP in the past, and it's about as follows:
If you are in an environment where you are doing something PvE, your character can be stronger than if it were fighting another RPers char. It's by the merit of the fact that whenever we run into a group of mooks in an RP we don't have to actually dedicate more time to a firefight than we actually have to. That changes when it is PvP for some reason. Deidrus (just going to use my chars as an example) of course cannot kill another RPers char as easily as he would some NPC in the RP. That's the Rule for Engagement guide I usually follow for RPs, which is if your char can slay mooks that's generally OK, just don't think you can do the same if you PO a char in the RP which is actually controlled.
Now beyond simple combat, there is a certain amount of concern I have for characters who 'flaunt'. Essentially, if your char is strong, have them be strong when it matters. There is no point to having a scene on your own beating up 10 members of the Audron's crew in a massive team v one battle aside from showing off. There is nothing wrong with having your char do something on their own, but if a char is doing things which are obviously for the sake of saying 'my character can do this, beyond exposition that is necessary, it's no bueno. This generally also means your char cannot be a condescending SoB unless it is in their character, and yes, there is a difference between RPing a snob and RPing a char who is designed to look down on people by merit of existence. If everyone, including you, know that your char is stronger than another's (for whatever reason), picking a fight, or putting another char in a position where they cannot act by forcing them to enter a no-win situation I have a problem with it.
The Asari are the most annoying to argue down in skill and strength because of how long they live. They at 400 have more skill in many areas than a master in another species would get in their lifetime. That, and at times Krogan, make them most prone to cheesing with chars (aside from the dreaded non-descript Cerb experiment. Nova, I don't mean you, I mean that in that there are a lot of Cerby Chars with stupid **** goin' on in their BG). Eventually Julia if things get a bit too much, as it seems like Sipher and Toni seem to think it is getting to right now, I will ask you to tone things down or step back a bit with the things that are contentious. If you want Naleena to be good at a field, I recommend you stick to it or remember the 'master of none' caveat of 'Jack of all Trades'.
My ideas around OPness and what's OK and not come from my first RP experience where I played as an Ardat'Yakshi who was missing an arm and was simply the most OP character in the RP in terms of biotics. It was hard to learn and a lot of people questioned my style around RPing her but what it came down to was simply not putting her in a position where she had to fight other player characters and where she wasn't standing in the corner of a room and cackling evilly while proclaiming that the world was at her feet. She was mainly a flirt really which helped deal with things and made people like her. It was a way of countering the OPness of a char without nerfing (her strength wound up being rather useful later in the RP too).
Naleena came over from the BAL thread. Turns out SGJ didn't intend for her to be the hero, but she emerged as the favourite character to write for.
I was tempted to import Jerry-Ann Wyld the alliance medic over, but we already have a doctor char, and Wyld and Naleena don't meet till the Battle for London.
Shame, she had a modified cadallic that was modified to work with Mako parts.
Shotgun Julia's Naleena and RedBelle's Wyld are in the Battle of London story, so actually I'm pretty familiar with those.
Me being a participant and not in charge of this...I am totally fine with following the guidelines and to me, actually, characters who can do everything are not that interesting to write about.
In the universe of ME, not everyone is created equal, at least as far as I can tell from the ME fluff. Still, everyone has weaknesses. Actually, the asari weakness has less to do with their skill and more to do with mindset. In the fluff, they really are terribly prepared for the Reaper invasion as effective as commandos and their fighting forces are. Problems seem to stem in the rpg world, though, when reducing everything to just one character. Just one asari can be really powerful, and the weaknesses of asari as a whole just don't show as well.
As mentioned, that goes with the krogan as well. To me, it is pretty clear from the fluff that the krogan would have run rampant over everyone if it wasn't for the genophage. But look, what are krogan...awesome fighters, actually biotic, able to take huge damage, AND regenerate. Consider how much of krogan (and asari) fluff were left out of the multiplayer game to make sure people actually played other species characters!
On soldiers...WELL, I'm never surprised why they show up the least in rpgs. In video games, there are stats and things soldiers can have that other classes can't. In stories, most people just look at them as bland. Sort of like, "I'm writing a grunt. So what? What can I write about a soldier that I can't about any other character?" To me, it is actually a valid question. Being a 'tank' or a damage sponge, or just good with lots of weapons is really not that exciting from an action perspective, which I find is what a lot of people like to write. It is worse if your soldier is, say, human, and is constantly outshined by some asari or krogan or super character. You can tell the writer about all the reasons why that makes sense in the ME universe and none of it has them want to continue with a character. So for characters there HAS to be, to me, some thing that they can do that none of the other characters can. And that is why they are on the mission.
People want to be heroes for a moment, not sidekicks to someone else
I like to think of rpgs as rock bands more than stories. Everybody should get to play a part that matters and shine, right?
I can create anything. If no biotics, I could make an infiltrator. If people still insist on a soldier type, I can do that, but I do want to have some reason to be there and do something other people can't. You know, without having to have a krogan or asari ![]()
Sadly Wyld driving the Bucky Valkyr won't be in this one. Her time to shine is in ME3.
So instead I have Jess Stone. AKA Jessica Babylon. AKA Captain Silver. A pirate queen...... though she'd deny it...... alot. While making people into furniture apparently because that's the kind of person she is when negotiating contracts....... yeeeahhhhh <.<
Anyway. Captain Stone flies the cargo transport the Medusa and is currently getting roped into a quest. She's got the contacts and knows the low down dirty tricks of her trade.
I just thought of this questions, but is Deidrus' shuttle flying under a Council ID? Rather, since Illium isn't a council world, would any VI or checkpoint recognize its signature as Alliance?
It would recognize the shuttle as a Council vehicle. The Audron was volunteered by the Hierarchy for the mission and is no longer associated legally to the Hierarchy, it is instead listed and would reply to a ping within the Traverse as a Spectre Vessel.
In short, Shuttle is Spectre registered, the Audron is Spectre registered. Only if the registrar changed or query context changed would they be recognized as anything else.
GAH,
tl;dr, It would be registered as being a shuttle from a Spectre's ship.
@_@ --> *falls down from info overload*
In all seriousness though, cool. I was just going to see if the VI could pick up the shuttle's ID as Council status. That does lead me to the next question though for Deidrus' crew. Are you trying to have them fight through everything or skip it for now?
