Very good mister brotarian. Help add your voice to the consensus in the story and pick the teams for your characters please :). I recommend Vayne go with team engineering to protect them.

I guess that puts all of mine in the shuttle, because I thought Irina was going in a MIP to engineering because I had this crazy idea that a 1 ton Krogan AND a human couldn't fit into one. So if a Krogan and a human CAN fit, and Vayne goes into a MIP, then all of mine I guess go in the shuttle for the main assault which is going to allow me to be as creative as dog doo doo, but there are advantages to this as well called coordination.

Pretty much only two people can get in the MIPs. If Jess is in one and a pilot has to be in another, that means almost everyone is on the shuttle until it lands and people can split up into teams

Here's how confused I am:

I thought each MIP was a team, and then the shuttle was going to be the main assault. But I really don't know what the hell is going on.

Alright. So two more people in the people launchers huh? I presume frank is going into one?

I'll have either vayne or essul go. Vayne's got the tank skill, Essul the stealth fighter/rogue skill.

Actually have to leave to make dinner atm. So I'll be back in about 1/2 hour and make my choice if thats okay.

So the torpedoes fit kne huh. Narrows it down to essul then since he's a better pilot. Any objections?

That would put Jess in one MIP and Essul in the other.  Makes sense to me from the meta.  I would mention it 'in game' however.

So the MIP's.

Jess and Essul are in one as it's a two man.

Anika is slated for the other as ti's a one man with a cargo compartment.

J&E open the hanger.

A goes to work on the spine.

That leaves everyone else on the shuttle. J&E will make sure that the front of the ship is a beach head. From there, depending on what they find, we can launch whatever assult we want on the command section. The idea is that no one knows we're there till we've started our assualt.

The longer it takes for them to relise what's happening the longer we delay their response is the idea behind the stealth approach.

We gotta wait a while. We were all working on the assumption that it was only a 1 man capacity per MIP.

Actually, NVM. Next person who signs up gets in, let's make this simple and get things rolling.

I'm putting a silhoette of the ship together with the plan as it stands atm. It'll be up in about 6-7 hours. At work right now

Also, unless anyone else wants the sapper job on the spine, Anika will take that role.

Actually I do recommend an npc for that type of job. There are reasons...

Okay, we have a few phases to get through concerning the Medusa that everyone needs to be aware of.....

Phase 1 - Board the ship.

MIP 1 is Jess and Essul

MIP 2 is Anika, but I'm holding off on that because Kel has an idea for who goes up the spine.

Shuttle is the rest of the team once the hanger is opened.

Phase 2 - Traverse the ship.

Now I'm leaving the options open to a degree here.

Bridge Team can move up inside the spine or outside across the hull.

Engineering team can move up inside the spine or outside across the hull

Suprression team move up inside the spine.

Note, for those who decide to move along on the outside of the hull, I'm going to have Jess come up with a pirate trick of the inflated airlock. Basically a membrane that can be attached to a surface, have the hull cut open, and then the membrane's airlocks can cycle people through till everyone's inside. (Think several metal panels with a small opening for doors connected by transparent rubber material. Heard about them in sci-fi stories so I'm borrowing the concept).

The idea if any of the teams walk across the hull is that they will cut their way into one of the cargo containers and then use the internal airlock connecting the container and the ship to board at the furthest point up the spine.

Since the Suppression's team's job is to supress bad guys they'll be moving up inside the spine to let anyone who 'might' be there. (Because if no alarm is raised there's no reason for a number of people to be there), to see the obvious push forward. Whoever takes that roll might want to consider some sort of shield barrier system since the spine is a sharpshooter's target range haven that works both ways.

SO.  So....

There's got to be a little meta without giving it all away.

First, Anika is fine for that job.  I'm recommending someone who is not a person's only character, or an npc type for that job.  No it isn't because they are going to die...

Second, and this is kind of important, there (unless RedBelle absolutely insists and I'm hoping you don't RB because I think it would be a lot worse for the player characters) generally would have to be a secondary route to get through the ship that isn't the main spine corridor.  There are a lot of practical reasons for that which have nothing to do with boarding actions.  There could be fires, a breach, anything that shut down the spine would make life a living hell for fixing it if the only way to get around it in space was to travel along the outside of the ship.  Without devolving into too much realism, there are many instances in which I could imagine the outside of a ship not being traversable either.  Not that it wouldn't be an option in many cases, but it makes sense to have alternate ways to travel even if not many and even if much slower.

My personal recommendation:  It makes an awful lot of sense for the secondary way for people to travel is that there is some way to move from one cargo module to another directly.  Emergency doors, what have you.  That was part of the freighter design that was being moved through on Duellos.  Yes, moving through the ship would be something much more inconvenient, so it wouldn't be a normal thing to do.  On the other hand, sometimes a person just has to go over one pod for some work, or maybe you have to move freight from one pod to another without wanting to, you know, move it to the spine, down the corridor, and back into a module.  There's a practicality to it, especially if we are talking ships in space.

From the meta point of view I'm already hinting at something, but I'm also partially showing that card because I think it would be screwy to do so later, during the story.

If people want to move on the outside of the ship, that could be okay, but I would imagine combat on the outside of a ship, should it occur, as unbelievable deadly, even for a group of our heroes.  The benefit would be a lack of detection, but then why even land the shuttle?  You'd just get close to the Medusa and spacewalk onto its hull.  Still, without killing creativity, I think that there is a great degree of danger going about traversing the external parts of the Medusa.  Especially if Jess did something like put in defensive measures to prevent such things on her ship.  Not necessary but she may have...

A spacewalk.  Could you imagine?  I could watch this for hours.

Let's do iiiiiiiit.

I see spacewalking as an option. The cargo container's connect to airlocks along the spine so people could potentially bypass nearly the whole spine and get to the bit where the spine connect's to the back of the ship.

The reason why a team should go into the spine is to draw and direct the enemies attention in a slight of hand manner. You draw the eye in one direction while sneaking others to get the drop on them.

Think of it from the bad guy's pov. They see the attempt to retake the ship and have a final solution. That solution is set to go off once the group reach a certain point. They need to see the point being reached so if the one's drawing the attention drag their feet and don't make much headway, the final solution is delayed. That means the other teams can undo whatever is being prepared and take away one of the enemies responses to the team's aggression.

However, to say that the group 'will' encounter resistance in the spine isn't something set in stone. If no one trips any alarms the group can make a lot of headway into the ship and delay the enemy response.

Bridge and Engineering teams can spacewalk and breach a container to gain access to the ship. Suppression team should be equipped for on ship combat since they are the muscle of the group.

Also, if he group does not confirm that the hanger is free of hostiles, they could potentially pincer the team in the spine if the alarm goes off.

Again, I'm not putting event's down in stone, but I do have a few scenario's that the group's will have to get around in case anyone was thining it was going to be a straight shot through the ship.

My meta rec is sort of okay, but what should not be done is breaching the bridge or engineering directly.  Cool as that sounds, that's worse than opening the front door of the shuttle bay announced and walking on board.  Basically, that would equate to immediate character death as a bunch of vulnerable people on the outside of the ship are stuck there while a skillion tons of firepower be brought directly onto them from prepared people on the inside.  Basically, you'd be breaching into a hive of bees.  And that would be instawin for the bad guys.

My recommendation is for Team Boom to stay back and keep the shuttle secure. You don't want to go on an assault without an exit strategy.

And 2, I just read Kel's post.... and I had a George RR Martin moment in the King's Court of What would King Joffrey do? I'd really hate to be Jrudek. Iyana would have to be taught not to trifle with the Kings and Queens. Shadow Broker or not. Joffrey doesn't care about such things. He's the King! The King should invite Jrudek and his crew to stay for a banquet and behead all of them except the pilot, and send them back to their rendezvous point.

I'm kinda enjoying the break in the action. Finally maxed out my uncommon weapons in MP.
