@Julia:  Yes, Rooster might be my favorite AIC song.

That one for Irina..Wow!   Probably.  I actualy had a song in mind that was different, but it is an anti-war song so doesn't really fit.  My Part, sort of does...

Kel, I live in a military town. Active military are some of the most anti-war people I know. You don't know what they talk about behind the doors of their homes. I do. They are friends.

And you have no idea how messed up that woman is.

Oh, I got it.  I mean, what I'm saying my song really didn't fit is all :)  Your song kind of does...

Okay, as far as we go, if anyone does go this far, please stop at the point that the Medusa is first detected and able to be seen with enhanced visuals by the Janiri.  The Medusa is in low orbit over Vem Osca with nothing unusual about it, up to that point.

(edited: As an aside, yeah I'm causing trouble.  What about it? :) )

So some members of the team are wearing Silver masks? Sorry, I've missed something while I was busy this weekend.

I know that Eteon is with Team Boom and is going to be going through and clearing the ship.

Eteon is with Naleena's team to sweep the ship (but who is else is on Naleena's team I have no idea).

"Team Boom" are the Asari commandos and they're going to be staying behind guarding the shuttle - never go on a mission without an exit strategy.

Frank, Irina (a Captain Silver) and Vayne are going to engineering.

As for everyone else? Who the hell knows?

Ok, so, where should I proceed? Is it time for Avan to scout out Engineering or no?

We're entering the system. Get to the shuttle bay. We're waiting on Redbelle. Naleena has a couple of questions. She doesn't want to "wing it" when we get aboard the Medusa.

Avan, I think he should go with the engineering team.  He himself is a capable tech, so he could help there.  Plus engineering will be guarded.

Jess, Essul and Anika will be heading out once I'm back from work today so horse play can continue on.... Don't want to disturb Irina and Jenus after all.

Trying to make Typhin have some underlying seriousness, but he's simply a goof, a little Saul Goodman-esque. The Broker probably needs men like that to keep it real.

Also, I could imagine this being a video game and the Medusa's a promoted DLC. Then there'd be the "Avan:If the Price is Right" DLC with bonus hacking skills, like how all of the squadmates have bonuses. XD

Okay, in the case that nobody has gotten us there until tomorrow morning, I'm going to (by noon EST) get the Janiri right up to be able to read the Medusa with visuals, and some detail to follow.

I can or I can leave that up to Jess.  Certainly I will have to describe what is inside once people land.  So go ahead and do it.  If somebody hasn't by the end of today, I'll write it up.  If it is sooner, though, I can put up a response sooner.

Retaking the Medusa Part III:

Situation update:

Here is the approach diagram, thanks to RedBelle:

medusa_by_d3studios-d7zqoxb.jpg

The Medusa:

Low Orbit, pressurized interior, engines warmed and ready, but not active. Fire Control active, weapons ready but not deployed

The Janiri:

Holding position in stealth mode outside the range of the Medusa.  Within full scan range, but outside VERA's effective electronic warfare range,  On high alert, but Fire Control passive.

@FH:  Hah!  Whatever, just smear it over everything!

To everybody: Okay, there is A LOT going on.  Basically there is a conversation happening between Jrudek on Iyana's behalf and Lord Tarballs, aka, Jess' boss...or whatever.  Someone really important.  It has bearing to what is going on, and is pretty long.  I'd like to think in a good way!

NOW, shortly, I am going to post up what is going to be seen aboard the ship, in the fiction and the meta of it all right here in the discussion.  Getting something to eat then hammering it out.

Retakign the Medusa IV:

What's on board?

Setting:  The interior of the Medusa has been massively altered.  While the basic support structures have been maintained, and with certain limitations based on the time that has transpired since Iyana first took the ship, the Medusa's corriders and internal space have been rearranged so that passage inside is like wandering a madhouse.  And with that same sort of look.

The inside might be gory in places, but it is less Amityville Horror and more like the maze of your nightmares. More like there have been corridors built where none previously existed, spaces cleared where they were filled before.  There seems to be no direct route to anywhere, although one who is familiar with the ship designs or follows a general diagram of it can get a sense of where they are generally headed.  Imagine you let the inmates of an asylum design their own living space and that is what you get.  Walls have all been painted black, and the fluourescent paint described has been thrown everywhere.  The effect is that often it is difficult to tell where one object ends and another begins until one looks closely at it.  And even then it might not make sense.

It is pressurized, and odors do permeate the air.  Sometimes they are foul, as if no one bothered to clean up after themselves and lived in squalor.  But sometimes they are sweet, or incense like.  Sometimes they are industrial, perhaps in areas that work has been done in.

The lights are dim, providing barely what the naked eye needs to see to move slowly.  Details may escape the illumination and occasionally, one may come across an entirely dark space.

Objects are not loose, however.  They are bolted down, fixed, hardened.  Soft material has been removed entirely, it seems.  Furnishing is bereft, at least in the initial parts of the ship which are boarded.  Cover is plentiful, and in fact, there is no place, it seems, where one can draw a long line of sight at all.  Eteon will take notice that without knowledge of what exactly lies beyond her eyesight, teleporting can result in great injury or instant death.  It doesn't mean she cannot teleport.  But it does mean to do so relying on the standard design is a great, if not foolhardy, risk.

At this point, visual enhancements will help, and likely be preferred but are not necessary.  What benefits the inhabitants also may benefit you, the players.  Shadows and hiding places are abundant, sound does not travel well, and spotting long distances is mostly impossible.

The forward hanger bay has suffered much of the same fate, but is functional.  Within are two kodiak shuttles; one operational, one it looks like has been torn apart by children.

As far as what Anika finds after entering the spine, I will reveal it when it happens

Inhabitants (or who you are fighting):

The mercs:  These are a professional force.  They know little, if anything, about standard Shadow Broker operations.  They are hired guns, but are mean and loyal.  They are well trained and work together in groups of 2-3.  They do not come from any of the mercenary organizations such as the Blood Pack or suns.  Instead, they are a go to force for shadow broker operations and are a unit unto themselves.  Many are trained in naval functions as well as soldiery, though there skills are not as great in regards to ship functions.

The 'mutants':  What Iyana has brought onboard is a collection of some of the most despicable, homicidal criminals, hand picked from across the galaxy, with a penchant for the disfigured and warped.  They are her mockery of a misfit crew, and are unwavering in their loyalty as, Iyana has been responsible for breaking them out of either their lifelong imprisonment or their death sentences.  Most are beyond reason, anyway, and are far more interested in a cruel death for entertainment's sake alone, than ever making a deal with the 'normal' members of the 'establishment' they see all their enemies as.  Futher, they have a myriad of bizarre powers only limited by your own imagination.  Some are powerful biotics, some have physical anomalies which benefit them in combat, all are weird and generally horrific to behold.  They will be encountered in groups of 1-3, and while they work alongside the mercs, neither group integrates.  They are on the same side, and do not work together other than that.

Please note:  These are and should be written as very dangerous people.  Whether they are the highly skilled mercs or the bizarre and chaotic 'mutants', none of these goons should be goons in the sense of horde mentality.  The players should be challenged, though surely they should overcome.  I had said to Shotgun Julia at one point, as an example, the take down of one of these enemies should not look like:

"She killed him with a knife to the neck." -no

"She shot him through the head, killing him instantly" -no

But instead should look like :

"She had to force her way around to the back of the merc as he turned, aware of what she was trying. But she was faster. She slipped the knife in and he tried to call out for an alert, but she stifled his yell. The hand over his mouth allowed the merc to jam his hand into her knee, almost forcing her to cry out as well. Naleena finally got the knife into his neck, and though he pushed against it, his position was too compromised. Bit by bit the knife went through the armor, until it finally hit home. He reflexively jerked, and fought for a while, but Naleena won in the end, knife biting deep into neck." -yes

It isn't even about the length of the description, but more like killing these people, mercs or mutants, is hard.  Total, when encountering them, there should be about 1 to 2 per player, so if Jess and Essule come across a group they fight, obviosly that means they'll encounter 2-4 of them.  Note that some of the characters have more experience in combat and some less which is fine, but it still is a guideline that no criminal should be one shot wondered like in a Silvester Stallone movie.

More will be revealed as people move through the Medusa.  This is for starters, and is for the landing and the initial movement through the ship.  Harass me if you have any questions or just go crazy and I'll have to deal :D

The close quarters is why Naleena brought pistols and a submachine gun. An assault rifle is too clumsy.

However, I might add that pretty much anything is a one shot wonder to "Old Painless" if Irina can get a clear shot and get close enough. Don't make me go into p = mv on this.

I reserve the line: "Come on out you f*ckers. Old Painless is waiting."

It isn't that one bullet can't kill someone.  But to get that one bullet, should it come down to that, is going to take more than pointing and shooting, that's all.

Example:  "Naleena was quick to line up the shot, but her target wouldn't stop moving, increasing the time it took for her to get a proper lock.  And worse, the moves of the disfigured man were unpredictable.  She almost squeezed off a shot, but realilzed at the last fraction of a second that it would have gone wide.  Another moment later and the man made a mistake, moving back in the direction she was already aiming.  She squeezed the trigger and hit the man directly in the head.  Satisfaction at last.  It was then that she realized another enemy had taken advantage of the seconds it took to get her kill, had lined up his own shot on her, and fired before she could react..."

And so on.  Use your imagination.  When it comes to the mercs, it is mostly their experience and tenacity.  When it comes to the mutants, it is experience, tenacity, and quite possibly something entirely messed up like almost on the level of x-men messed up.  No, not on the level of the insane x-men like Wolverine or Juggernaut, but more like something that may just take that much longer to put them down.  Remember, the characters live in a world of 1000 year asari, krogan and vorcha who regenerate (rather rapidly I might add) and salarians who are supposed to be thinking a lot faster than the other species (but because everyone hates salarians, nobody ever addresses this benefit ;) )  I'm not setting rules, but ideas for why Naleena might exactly find this group of people perhaps less well trained as the STG, and yet need more bullets, or more time, to take them down.  If anything, it is an asymmetrical battle fought by people who just don't think normally, and don't think like 'abnormal' people who anyone in the group would have run into in the past.  Not even in a 300 year old kroganish lifespan.  For the sake of fiction.

Do it in a way that makes sense to you.
