Very few successful games lack humans, which is why I don't think this will happen.  It could be cool, but Bioware will want to keep humans, and the only way I see for a compelling large scale continuation of the series is if they do a sequel.

I think this says it best.

Why a Human Protagonist

Am I wrong or BW was supposed to release some information or dairy or something about now?

Are you saying they should reboot Mass Effect? Please no. It's really not needed. Not at all. I want them to keep moving forward in the current universe. Until they finally decide to call it quits on the series.

I'll be happy with anything that doesn't make me want to hit something, puke, or seek antidepressants.

so you would rather see them canonize an ending or go Deus Ex on the sequel?

1.I want a game set in the time between ME1 and ME2 - after all Shepard was out cold for 2 years and you can do a hell of a lot in 2 years.

2. I prefer if the story and characters are completely unrelated to Shepards story line - after all it is a big f**** universe.

3.And finally i hope the character is a freelancer - meaning not part of any military or other govermential orginization.

4. If possible i would hope we could chose our own race even if it's just from a liminated number like Human, Asari, Turian and Salarian - but if not possible it's not a dealbreaker fgor me.

Might not be the most appropriate topic to post this in, but:

On my transition from ME1 to ME2, there was something that ticked me off. In ME1, Wrex had been my squadmate from the moment I recruited him. He went with me everywhere. Then in ME2, I got Grunt from Okeer. There was some 'discussion' about it being a Krogan and everything.

I would love it if the game recongnised that I had a Krogan in my squad all the time in ME1, and react as such when I try to recruit another Krogan. Hell, I would've been extremely happy if Shepard had said something along the lines of: "Wrex has helped me out many times, that's why I want this Krogan", or something like that. A single line would be enough. No need for big consequences or changes, just a simple recognition of what has happened before.

Can't even be seriously hard to implement. All you'd need is a few checks in the save about who was a squadmate at what time during what mission. It's tracked who is your favourite squadmember for the ending of ME3 (it decides who exits the Normady with Joker), so I'm not coming up with something revolutionary here.

That actually didn't bother me too much. It seemed like the apprehension around Grunt was not based on him being a krogan, but based on him being a "wild card" whom Cerberus knew nothing about when putting together the recruitment list and who could have been brainwashed into all kinds of crazy ideas by Okeer while in the tank. The fact that Shepard had worked with Wrex before wouldn't likely do much to assuage anyone's doubts about Grunt.

Yeah, nobody knew Grunt existed until shep's team found Okeer. He's the one Cerberus had intel on.

True.

Wish I could've recruited Okeer though. Seems like a fun guy.

I am hoping the next game does not relate to the Reaper storyline, it's finished now and prefer to see nothing more of it. I would like the next game storyline contain a bigger focus on real-world aspects such as terrorism, rogue governments/organisations, territorial war and anything else that doesn't include the reapers. Preferably not a prequel, spinoff or midquel, mind you.

I do to. Unfortunately, I think big, epic conflicts are here to stay and I feel the next game is going to involve the Leviathans as enemies.

I'm hoping I don't see a big epic conflict in the next game that's at all related to the Reaper story line. I want the next game set post war. The writers are going to need to grow a pair and set a canon of some sort. Control: reapers repaired everything and are gone into dark space - we don't have to worry about them anymore. Synthesis - was not as effective as the Catalyst thought it would be. In fact it was pretty damned ineffective. Still the reapers fixed everything and left for dark space so we don't have to worry about them anymore. Destroy - we fixed everything ourselves and the reapers are dead. Bottom line is that the reapers are gone. No real canon is needed. Reaper tech doesn't indoctrinate anymore. Go.

I hope the ignore the war entirely.  "Yeah the Reapers attacked.  They were dealt with.  Move on".

As for the next story, I just hope the they're less thoughtless towards the players this time around.

Set within the current MEU timeline. Standalone, self-contained story with absolutely zero appearances from anybody in the Shepard Trilogy (its a big galaxy after all. Time to start demonstrating it). BW shouldn't make the next hero try to live up to Shepard. They also shouldn't try to make the next villain/threat live up to the Reapers. I'm pretty much all set on saving all life in existence from annihilation by an ancient invincible force. Hopefully we get a more personal journey and narrative this time around.

....and I hope the protagonist dies no matter what.

I know it's a Bioware tradition to setup most of their games around some kind of end of the world concept. Baldurs Gate was probably one of the least end of the world games even if it was indicated a lot of people died and suffered and would have suffered.

One of the things I liked about the Baldurs gate series was that it was a more personal journey. Most of the NPC's in the outside world didn't care much for what you were doing or who you were or what. Then you had your personal goals and problems.

The Reaper story almost got too all consuming and impersonal. Which is why people love the Citadel DLC so much, because it takes a break from that all consuming singleminded story. In a way I can understand how the story had to be a little bit liek that with the Reapers after introdusing them in ME1.

But I'm hoping for something a little bit more personal than Reapers or The Blight or end of the world demons from the fade.
