So everyone who plays KotOR on PC knows that there are some extremely frustrating crashes, glitches, and bugs when you try to play this amazing game. And I have been one of the people who have tried countless suggestions and fixes when it comes to running this on Windows 7. And just in case anyone who had as much @#%@ing trouble, as I have, here is a simple run-through on how I got mine to install, here you go.

As you all probably know, it might not work for you. I am by no means an expert, so don't expect anymore advice out of me. I got mine working, and now I'm never uninstalling it again. Thank da Lort.

KotOR Installation

1. Insert Disc or Mount ISO

2. Go to whichever drive the disc is on
a. scroll down and right click setup.exe (application)
b. click compatibility tab
a. click first check box and select 'windows xp (service pack 2)
b. click run as administrator
c. click apply and then ok

3. Install as you normally would but don't bother with placing a shortcut on your desktop

4. Download the patch
a. KotOR has one patch only for every version (1.03)

5. Apply step 2 to the patch and install it

**Complications arose, ensued, were overcome. Savvy?**
If you have a crack, now is the time to treat it to Step 2, and then replace the original exe

6. Then go to Program Files>LucasArts>SWKotOR

7. Scroll down to swkotor.exe (application) and repeat step 2 to it

8. Also go to swconfig. exe (application) and repeat step 2, then click it open
a. change the resolution to 1024x768
b. click disable movies (it will only skip past bioware/logo/malak's picture)

9. Go to swkotor.exe and click create shortcut, it should as if you would like to place it on your desktop, say yes

10. Open it and pray it works

Kotor still lives on with old school gamers.

I’ve just finished my pistol wielding (light side) Revan and I’m about to play sith lords once more... I admit getting kotor to run on my new win 8.1 rig was a challenge.
