I agree; it seems like he could be a gentle giant kind of guy who is, yes, a badass warrior and a principled guy, but yet he's capable of letting his hair down and mingling with his buddies after a long hard day :)

I swear to God, BioWare don't you dare not let us have this guy! He seems amazing, and if he's not an LI, I'll burn Edmonton to the ground.
:)

LOL I'm kind of used to sighing after the characters I can't have though lol

I'm mostly interested In this character because he would have an approaching Calling and seems to have a beef with the Wardens. It sounds like he will have interesting discussions and companion quests.

I don't know if it's come up much in the thread yet, but I was also wondering how far off his calling the warden character would be. It was stated that wardens typically have a short lifespan before succumbing to the taint and the warden companion looks to be up there in age already. It'll be interesting to see if there are any signs of that.

Wasnt edmonton burned to the ground already after they lost the stanley cup?  No wait that was Vancouver when they lost to boston, my bad disregard

Maybe he was conscripted around 40-45? :D *a girl can hope!*

I'm so thankful for the fan art that was posted in here for making him look less like my dad.  Now I feel a little more comfortable saying... Bearded Grey Warden for LI!

That's the story I'm going to stick with until we're told otherwise! *fingers crossed*  Though it could be quite dramatic and emotional to have a love story between people who know their time together is short, I'm going to cling to this idea of relatively happy endings :P

I understand the reluctance for the calling plot because some people want the warden as a LI, but I'm not interested in him as a LI, so it would make him more interesting, to me. lol

I kind of prefer "tragic beginnings" that end up "happy endings"

LOL Understandable, and I agree it would make him very interesting.

I know it bursts bubbles but I'm thinking he might be close to his Calling too, just because we haven't really dealt with that yet in the game. We've never been up close and personal with a Warden that was nearing the Calling and it would certainly add some depth to character interactions with him!

Oh, I'd never really want to sacrifice depth of the overall story but, if there's going to be a tragic ending for him, I'd like to put off feeling bad about it as long as I can. Yay, avoidance!

If he were a former sex worker, would that change your opinion?

I couldn't say. Why don't you give it a whirl, and we'll see if you improve any.

Don't they have even shorter lives before the Calling?

Also, I personally have a suspicion that he might be anti-mage.

What makes you think that? The wardens are pretty liberal about mages, generally.

Aside from all of them in Anders' short story. It's also because I think Cassandra will have to be fairly neutral, and Vivienne isn't precisely anti-mage; Beardo seems a somewhat logical candidate for that to be his character flaw.

I had actually sort of figured Cassandra would be the main anti-mage/pro-Chantry companion. I'd sort of pegged the warden for being outside the mage/templar situation entirely and just focused in story arch on a totally different faction. I guess we'll see, though.

It is kind of hard to imagine someone so jolly getting fired up about mages, but someone has to.

The only other one I can think of is Iron Bull.

That would seem logical in a sense... it's just that it seems like she's sort of a mandatory secondary protagonist, and her taking a strong stance on this issue would create an immediate disincentive for the pro-mage side to keep her around.

I mean, do we *have* to have an anti-mage?

No, and I'd prefer otherwise. It just seems likely.

Or, better yet, how about Sera as the antimage?

;)

The thus-far consistent portrayal of affable rogues leads me to believe that this will almost certainly not happen.

If anyone is anti-mage I think it would probably be the Iron Bull, because from his blurb from the survey it seems that he might have been a part of the Qun.

And we all know how much the Qunari appreciate magic
