For some reason I like the idea of these two getting together - in a Fenris/Isabela-kind of way, i.e. they come together if you don't romance either of them. Well, Cassandra at least, because as of yet we have no idea whether or not Blackwall is going to be a love interest.

Blackwall: Nevarran royalty, slayer of dragons, Seeker of the Chantry, Right Hand of the Divine and now the woman behind the Inquisition. You're moving up in the world, Cassandra.

Cassandra: Oh, be done with the flattery. You're a Grey Warden; titles mean nothing to you.

Blackwall: You'd think so, wouldn't you? But in this case, that's not true. I've seen you in action before, you know.

Cassandra: Oh, you have?

Blackwall: When I was a younger lad. I'd already become a Warden at the time, but I was present at the Chantry's gathering in Orlais, nearly two decades ago. When the blood mages attacked.

Cassandra: Not just blood mages. The conspiracy targeting the Divine had members even among the priests and Templars.

Blackwall: Even so, your skill was unmatched that day. I remember watching, in awe, as you fought the conspirators.

Cassandra:Thank you, Blackwall. Though that was long ago.

Blackwall: And yet you still fight with the same grace as before.

Cassandra: What did I say about flattery?

It'd be cool to see some dialogue between Blackwall and Leliana.

 

Leliana: I heard you used to be a Grey Warden.

 

Blackwall: I am a Warden, lass.

 

L: I knew the Hero of Ferelden once. I often wonder where s/he is (if Leliana was befriended).

    I knew the Hero of Ferelden once. S/he was a good wo/man (if Leliana was recruited and the Ultimate Sacrifice was made).

    I know the Hero of Ferelden. We've not corresponded for a long time. I am worried for his/her safety (if Leliana romanced the Warden).

    I met a Warden once. S/he later became the Hero of Ferelden (if Leliana met the Warden but was not recruited).

    I saw a Warden once. S/he later became the Hero of Ferelden (if Leliana did not meet the Warden).

 

B: You were in Ferelden during the Blight? Then you know Teyrn Loghain did not allow the Orlesian Wardens to cross the border to help our Fereldan brethren.

 

L: I sense that this rankles you.

 

B: Of course. That man's paranoia endangered all the nations of Thedas, not recognizing the true threat. The duty of the Wardens is to protect people but politics got in the way. So we remained idle in our keeps, days becoming weeks, becoming months, anticipating the worst. When word finally arrived we were informed that not only had two Wardens survived, they had gone against the order's neutrality and assembled an army to defeat the Archdemon.

 

L: Is that why you joined the Inquisition?

 

B: Yes. If less than a handful of Wardens could stop the Blight, perhaps I could make a difference in this war. I vowed never to sit on my hands again, lass, Warden or not.

 

L: I'm glad.

Ah, okay. With Varric's page getting new pictures I was curious if any other characters got some and that picture looked new to me.

I've stopped visiting most threads.  This one, the twitter thread and a couple in off topic are all I bother with anymore.

 

I'd be excited to learn more about him.  But I imagine we won't until the game releases.   Until then, I will just stare adoringly at his screenies

I've been lurking on this thread for a long time, so I thought I'd pop in and say hello! With the new pictures up for Varric, I'm hoping that more pictures of my favorite sexy warden will be next. Seriously hoping that he'll be a LI, but I think he'll have an almost permanent spot in my party whatever happens. Can't wait to hear more about his background and his story.

If I have to go to hell to climb the wall, I can do this, or at least try.  Seriously, I think the tease is fun and I'm all for it, as long as the game is prepared to accept that I will be romancnng the poor guy whether he knows it or not.  Strangely enough, I sometimes wonder not if I'm ready to play but if the game is ready to be played as it should be.
