I guess Blackwall's content considering his connection with Wardens is very spoilerish, so...

[DA]: How does he become involved with the Inquisition?
[SC]: When the Inquisition tries to get in contact with the Grey Wardens, they find Blackwall. He's traveling on his own, a bit of a loner. But with the world spiraling out of control, Blackwall sees the Inquisition as Thedas's last hope to restore order, and he realizes that he'll probably be able to do more good with its backing than by himself.
I guess it means "investigate anything Wardens-related ASAP".
I wonder if that concept art will appear in the game. Maybe as a flashback?
well, they said in the interview we try to contact the wardens and he is who we find.... now if i was to try and contact an organization, i would go to a major facility of theirs.... not find one guy and call it good.... Though i seriously doubt its gonna be: walkin down the road and hey, grey warden walks by and boom in the inquisition
Maybe the warden base will be destroyed and the other wardens are dead or missing? Kind of like the beginning of DAA?

Blackwall is a Warden-Constable (second-in-command in Orlais), that's a pretty big fish, not just one guy. So, unless he leaves the Wardens before the game (like in that concept-art), contacting him is reasonable. Besides, maybe Cassandra or Vivienne know him personally.
This scene bugs me and considering it was responsible in picking my interest in Blackwall in the first place, I hope it's in the game somehow. Just what happens here?

*snipping pic for length*
I don't know, but it has always interested me as well. I'm thinking it's part of his back story that we won't see in game. It has me wondering if he's leaving the Wardens. If that is the case, then I think it may have something to do with Corypheus.
Theirs clearly something bad going on with the wardens, and it seems like the new book might shed some light on it.
How I imagine an initial interaction between Blackwall and Varric to transpire:
Varric: I hear you're a Grey Warden.
Blackwall: I hear much about you as well. Or your stories, at least.
V: Tell me, why are you all so temperamental?
B: Excuse me?
V: First you're all, "Let's save everyone!" then you go, "BOOM, I hate templars and rainbows and happiness!"
B: I presume you are talking about the one called Anders.
V: Blondie was my friend, and a mage, and a Grey Warden. He always did what he thought was right, but you know how that ended.
B: You blame the Wardens for the destruction in Kirkwall? What he did was reprehensible even by our standards.
V: My point is, I don't know how far you're willing to go to do the "right" thing. And Bianca gets twitchy when I'm uncertain.
B: My duty is to protect the people. It always has been.
V: Good. Bianca will be watching.
B: Now you sound like Cassandra.
V: Bullshit!

Ha! I probably spent about 25 minutes trying to make a Blackwall chibi with that yesterday. I'm glad someone was able to.

Blackwall coming to a anime shop near you. ![]()
It seems like hardly anyone on this entire forum thinks Blackwall has a chance at being a romance. Why is that, do you think? Ageism? Because he's so near his Calling? Because he reminds people of Duncan, and Duncan wasn't a LI?

I what him to be a romance. I what to run my finger through his beard and down his manly chest.

I think ageism does have a lot to do with it. They think he is either too old, which is ridiculous, or that he is near his calling, which may or may not be true.
Plus, there are a lot of younger people on the forum. I notice they tend to think that anyone over 30 is "old." I can't wait until they get past that age themselves.
Then they can see how "old" it really is.
*shakes cane* He isn't even that old! He's just at that time in his life where he needs to start going to the doctor regularly for his man exams!
I think it was tweeted that he's in his 40s? There's plenty of actors in their 40s that people still pant over: Mark Ruffalo, Robert Downey Jr, Paul Rudd, Hugh Jackman...

40 is when things are just getting good!
I feel like I should be tooling around in a Rascal, shaking my fist at all the young pups in this forum, at times. ![]()

God Almighty. I hope he's this big and muscular ingame. ![]()
But Solas is also in his 40s, and he seems to be the one everyone thinks will be picked. (Probably those tapping Solas don't realize how old he is.) It's funny, Solas is completely hairless, whereas Blackwall seems to have excess hair
Battle of the hair?!
I think it was only Mary Kirby who tweeted that Blackwall reminded her of her grandfather?
As for his being a mentor, he appears to be only, at most, 10 years older than some of the other characters (assuming Cass, Varric, Solas, etc. are in their 40s, and he is maybe in his 50s), and the inquisitor can be in his/her 40s. I wouldn't think of someone 10 years old than me as a wise old mentor.
My guess it's more based on perception than facts ("Blackwall is old; he can't be a LI!" ... not realizing he's about the same age as all the other companions) and statistics ("Solas is a LI because he's an elf" or "We already have a male human warrior romance").
I'm just gonna take off his, Bull's, Dorian's, and Varric's armor. And just stare...

Speaking of Varric, would he also be in the DAI: Battle of the Hair, for the impressive display on his chest? ![]()
Where did this whole mentor business come from? It makes me feel all ooky inside, thinking about it.

Team it's raining men.
Would that also include Varric, for his chest hair?
Crossbow sized wedding ring.

Where do you prefer your hair? Face? Chest? In the Fade? (My new theory is that Solas' hair got lost in the Fade.)
