But Solas is also in his 40s, and he seems to be the one everyone thinks will be picked. (Probably those tapping Solas don't realize how old he is.) It's funny, Solas is completely hairless, whereas Blackwall seems to have excess hair Battle of the hair?!

I think it was only Mary Kirby who tweeted that Blackwall reminded her of her grandfather?

As for his being a mentor, he appears to be only, at most, 10 years older than some of the other characters (assuming Cass, Varric, Solas, etc. are in their 40s, and he is maybe in his 50s), and the inquisitor can be in his/her 40s. I wouldn't think of someone 10 years old than me as a wise old mentor.

My guess it's more based on perception than facts ("Blackwall is old; he can't be a LI!" ... not realizing he's about the same age as all the other companions) and statistics ("Solas is a LI because he's an elf" or "We already have a male human warrior romance").

That's true, but the other two guys, Varric and Solas, also have similar reasons why they might prefer to remain alone. Varric has Bianca, and Solas has his interest in the Fade (loner vibe).

Anders put his "duty" towards the mages above all, he even tells Hawke this during his romance.  Why people think a sense of duty would preclude a romance 100% of the time baffles my mind.

Meh, I consider Blackwall a lot more dutiful than Anders though. That being said, I don't think duty would necessarily stop a romance, though. However, I can see it going both ways for his character.

At this point, I see it as 50/50 with Solas or Blackwall. If Solas, I see him as a bisexual race gated guy. If Blackwall, I see him as bisexual with Cullen race gated.

I think Viv is the other bisexual character.

It was a joke.
On the topic of romances, it depends. I still hope that there'll be two bisexual LI, but I'm not sure. If the male LI is straight, I think Varric race gated would've a lot of chances.
As I said, I hope the last ones are bisexual regardless of who you they are.

At this point I'm pretty alright with either Solas or Blackwall as the last LI. I have a slight preference for Solas, but I think I could get used to Blackwall. Basically I'm at the "pleasedon'tbeVarric" stage.
