Also, I think they're loathe to tell us his age because it could hint at his LI status. If they confirm he's in his 40s, that could easily drag him back into strong LI contention. But if it's confirmed he's, say, late 50s I think that would also tell players something, and many people (rightfully or not) would drop him out of contention.

Yeah, it may just be something people pulled out of nowhere. A bunch of people were saying in the romance thread a while back that someone "confirmed" he was in his late 40s, but it wouldn't be the first time that something just got repeated so many times that people started accepting it as fact. I saw the one from Weekes, but I never saw one linked for Blackwall.

Late 50s makes Blackwall not to be in good shape for fighting, though. It would not be as important for a mage, but for a front line warrior it's a handicap.

A lot of military higher ups are that age though; they don't fight so much anymore as they lead/command. This could fit Blackwall's MO.

You are right, but Blackwall will not be that. He will be a part of elite commando squad, that different.

I'd put Lambert in his upper 50s and he could still kick major ass when needed.

I thought he was second-in-command of the Orlesian Wardens?

True dat! There are lots of guys and girls in martial arts, too, masters of the arts, even, who practice and still kick ass well into their 50s and 60s.
I'd love for him to be an LI, but due to his taint, sense of duty and nearing his calling I don't know.

Hmm, at his age, if he had a son, the son would be at most mid-20s. No thanks ![]()

I meant his positition in the Inquisition.

I would still like to meet his theoretical son. Mid-20s works for me. lol
I remember seeing a theory posed that he was the human Inquisitor's dad. I think they were trying to get people freaked out, like the Cullenites did. XD

Oh I see. He presumably volunteers for that though. He'll probably feel very strongly about the inquisition and disillusioned about the Wardens. I can't see a man of his experience and caliber saying, "I believe in what you're doing and I would love to lend my support, but blast these old bones! Hello, retirement!" *skips off into the sunset*

I think Weisshaupt is gonna remain unhelpful in regards to the Breach, and he won't be happy with that, and so decides to help us.

Considering we only visit Orlais and Ferelen I suspect Montsimmard will be the hotbed of whatever infection devouring the Wardens (Cory, Big Bad, red lyrium).

Perhaps. Given that it's Warden Central for Orlais, I can see it happening.

I'm very interested to see why we have to fight the wardens in DA:I. I wonder if the upcoming book will have anything to do with current events, like the last two.

*raises hand* I have a question!
Are there really people saying Blackwall is too old? Most of what I've seen about people not wanting to romance him is because they say he's close to his calling or 'dying' (which I have not read either in his information) Isn't Blackwall only in his mid 40s to early 50s? Since the rest of the companions are around in their 40s as well I don't see how that can be considered old. I have seen a lot of people say Blackwall reminds them of their father and grandfather (cause of his age?) and maybe I'm weird or maybe its his beard hypnotizing me but I really don't get that vibe at all and I'm pretty sure Blackwall is older than my father.
Okay that was more than one question, oops^^;

I rarely post in here but I have gotten a bit curious about Blackwall for a few reasons, so why not post in here to see if there was any information. It has to do with his age and wardenness,
If Blackwall is in his late 40s early 50s, and he's a warden, lets say he has been in the Wardens since his 20s at most since that seems to be the age range they look for give or take. If the taint from the passing stuff put him at risk for beginning that phase of the Wardens job of 30 years they get close to kicking the bucket like Duncan? The older Blackwall is, the more likely he's in the same situation as Duncan and wouldn't romancing him end up rather tragic and short?
I mean, the information I could find is that Blackwall seems to be in those 40s/50s. We know that he's been a Warden at least 10+ years just from the info from the first game name dropping him in a letter, then add a bunch more years by the rank listed as... but how would you lot feel about romancing a character who may die in a few short years or may not even last for very long?
I could see him as a Wynne position type of character. A granddad of the group.

Well to me at least it would be one of those you know what you're getting into things its like romancing Anders after you find out he is possessed you shouldn't expect a happy ending after seeing that and if you do its a little foolish. I don't think there isn't anyone here that hasn't thought of that before about the romance being short and tragic but some of us still want to romance him any way I know I'll be happy if he is one. Just to me seems like if you romance him you should expect not to get the happiest of endings and I'm fine with that it's again like romancing Thane or Anders you don't expect it to go very well but you may want to anyway.

For me it's more process of elimination. Literally the only two guys I find attractive are Cullen and Blackwall; Iron Bull is okay, not hideous to look upon lol but he's not ideal for me. Cullen was revealed to be gender-gated, and I plan to play male elves for my first couple playthroughs (I will get to female playthroughs later). I've got Iron Bull (yay) but I really would like at least one guy I find somewhat attractive as a love interest.
I'd prefer the romance to not be tragic, but what're ya gonna do.
(Oh and yes, people say he's too old all the time, usually when they're trying to guess the last two love interests.)

This is making my all the team line ups with Blackwall in it stronger. I still can't make up my mind that if he could be switched to a defender if I would. If I had him on a team with mage Quiz, Dorian and Varric I could see the need for the extra wall (LOL). If I switched Varric for dagger Sera or Cole I should have the front line covered.

If he's a LI... I think I finally have my first team down: Blackwall, Solas, and Cole, with a Dalish archer inquisitor. We know Blackwall and Solas get on, and Solas and Cole get on, so it should be a good party... no one biting anyone's head off ![]()
