Pretty miffed that he doesn't have a French accent. Tried of Orlesian characters being given English accents because of Francophobia.

I expect a lot of Orlesian NPC to be in the game from the important (Celine, Gaspard) to minor. I wonder what they will sound like. Finding excuses for them to speak without french accent would be problematic. Notice how all 3 demos take place in Ferelden? I bet it's to save francophobs from heart attack.

 

My thoughts after watching demo: Blackwall, you have tank build, why don't you use knockdown immunity?! (Gasp.) Oh, no, what if it doesn't exist anymore? Panic.

It's entirely possible that Blackwall is fereldan or a marsher, I'm tending to marsher myself.

The way he talks about Orlais and Ferelden in his letter I would expect marcher as well.

He was stationed as Warden Constable of Val Chevin.  This still doesn't prove he's Orlesian.  Like Aimo said, the Warden Commander of Ferelden can be Orlesian.

Solas is all but confirmed and I'm thinking the final will be Vivienne. They need to tell us so we can get ourselves in order and not be nail-biting until the game ships. I'm less anxious and hence more interested in the game if I know what my options are.

Yeah.  Today I decided to just assume it's going to be a Plan B game.  If I keep hanging on to every drib and drab hoping for a miracle and I'm disappointed the day before release to discover I was fooling myself, I'll wind up leaving the stupid box on a shelf for a week and sighing every time I look at it.  Then I'll put on my big girl pants and break down and play anyway.  At least there are going to be 2 male LIs who aren't Cullen, and neither one looks like an emo whiner.  If either Solas or Varric is an option, fantastic!  More to love.

I don't know the people being mentioned for voice.  But I'm not real good at recognizing voices.  It takes more than one sentence for me.  Probably because I'm OLD! ()

Thank you.  I know what you mean about voices.  I'll take everyone's word that his accent sounds northern, but from one short sentence off camera, I can't tell.  I doubt Richard Armitage (although he's from the area, IIRC), because with the last Hobbit coming out, he's a bit hot at the moment.  North of England has a reputation for honest, practical folk, and I find the accent close enough to a Scots one to be music to the ears.

I thought the same thing, the voices sounded similar to me. However there is the possibility another actor has donned northern accent for this. I wonder if Blackwall's voice was difficult to figure out or whether they knew what they wanted straight away when creating him.

Count me in as another who isn't too thrilled with the voice. I wanted it to be nobler, deeper, with more gravitas; the voice I heard doesn't really match Blackwall's appearance, IMO.

 

I guess we already know how Gareth David-Lloyd's voice sounds like, so it's probably moot, but I don't, and since we haven't heard Solas yet, I was wondering whether the voice we all think is Blackwall's could possibly be Solas'.

 

ETA: Never mind about that last part; I only just noticed the blinking portraits when somebody's speaking!

My Inquisitor will use the weapon and shield so I'll have Blackwall use the two-handed weapons
