Well nice to finally see Blackwall get some attention. I do wonder if BW plans to showcase every VA for companions in the game and the Inquisitor. Hope so.

We know Blackwall was not deleted from the game and he can talk. It's something, I guess.

It really is curious why some of the characters really are getting such little attention but it is nice to see Blackwall used in a demo and see he really is still there.

I was pretty excited to see him in the demo and not be waiting for a revive on the ground
I am so excited for this game and November seems so far away. I would like to see more of Blackwall but not if it story spoilerish. So if we don't see more of him I'll be curious if it's because of that or not.
In any case, it was super great to finally hear him!

Oddly enough, I keep seeing fanart of all the companions together... except Blackwall
A sign maybe?

I would say E3 demo was rather spoilerish, didn't stop from showing Dorian's relationship with Alexius and Darth Leliana. I don't think Blackwall's content is more spoilerish than anyone's else. It's not just Blackwall who is deprived of marketing love, though he probably has it worst. Based of info on him I would say the reason is Blackwall is extremely boring and no fun (you don't see devs going "oh, he is so awesome!" about him), but he is written by Sheryl so it doesn't compute.
Oh, maybe they are just jealous of his epic beard.
Blackwall Thread:
WE'RE GLAD HE'S STILL IN THE GAME
We could probably meme this.
I have no art skills (and too lazy). Or else I would make a picture of Blackwall playing PC version of Inquisition with keyboard and mouse (shocking!) with the inscription "We still exist!"

Is Blackwall even a possible romance interest? I've been warming up to the character recently, even though there's not much to go by. I'm at the very least curious! XD

Well, with them showcasing a lot of the other characters in the trailers, hes bound to be on the slowly forgotten list. at least he managed to pop into one of the gameplay videos.... probably wont see much of him again though ![]()

Sadly, I don't think we'll be getting a lot of info or exposure on any of the characters whose LI status is still unconfirmed. After the tweets from Solas' VA, they're going to lock down the remaining actors so they aren't badgered into releasing spoilers or misleading info. So there might be a spoken phrase or sentence even, with blurry combat screenies or an inventory screen, but nothing that would lead fans to pester the actors. That's my own explanation for the media blackout, at any rate.
For those who want to guess, there's a coincidence in the writers for the remaining potential LIs:
Blackwall: written by Sheryl Chee, along with Leliana (not a romance option)
Solas: written by Patrick Weekes, along with Iron Bull, who has his own romance arc
Varric: written by Mary Kirby
Vivienne: written by Mary Kirby
I don't know to what extent the romances are spread among the writers, and there's no reason any of these seasoned, talented writers couldn't write 2 romances. They're all capable of writing more than one richly developed character at once. I'm just going to look at the roster and try to convince myself it's not wishful thinking.

IMO, the reason they are not releasing much info on Ser Blackwall is because his dialogues and by that extension, his role and character arc in Inquisition might be very spoilery.
I mean we know the Wardens are up to something.
We know that Corypheus, regardless of whatever Hawke does, survives.
We know Avernus was hinting that the tainted blood has some potential / effect that is yet to be revealed.
We know the Wardens have also been retracing or trying to Hawke's Primeval Thaig expedition.
From the Enemies of Thedas trailer, we can safely speculate that some form of Old God / Archdemon malarkey will make its way into Inquisition as well.
Suffice to say, the role of Grey Wardens and that of Blackwall, is quite spoilery if you look at what the Wardens themselves have been up to. Hence, Blackwall is not getting the reveal that say, Solas or Dorian or Cole or Sera is getting at the moment.

To add to that, his role may also spoil many aspects of the upcoming licensed novel, The Last Flight.

I'm really not sure how much of his role with the wardens makes showing him in non-warden related areas a spoiler. He surely has dialogue that isn't related to those plots. Dorian's character was featured pretty heavily in the Redcliffe castle demo, with lots of potential spoilers for the mage/templar war and Leliana. With all the leaks from Amazon.com, The Last Flight is pretty well plastered with spoilers already.
Note that the VAs for Solas, Dorian, Cole, and Sera have all been revealed already, as has the LI status for 3 out of those 4. I still think that Blackwall's status as a Grey Warden isn't the feature that's being shielded from being spoiled.
As I said, this is my opinion. I hope they do reveal more about him soon. I'm just not going to hold my breath.

Weekes also wrote Cole and probably Celine (who is speculated to be NPC romance).
They revealed Josephine's VA after "Solas incident", though we already knew her LI status at that moment. Hmm...
Still think romance reveals were handled poorly. Should be either "not telling you anything, go crazy with speculations" or if you started, don't leave fans of certain 4 characters in the cold until release. I hate playing favourites.

I don't see how a couple of screenshots, a cutscene or voice actor's name will tell us: "It is all Corypheus' fault! He is a final boss". I doubt people here want story spoilers. Also, what Magdalena said.

Very true! I don't want ANY narrative spoilers. I already feel the E3 demo spoiled me too much (my fault for watching, of course, not BioWare's). All I want to know is the LI status of all the remaining companions.
Some of the devs may laugh at us and thumb their noses at us for caring so much about romance, but oh well. I'm not ashamed to say that it's an important part of my Dragon Age experience! A VERY important part!

From a really well done prompt about what Solas sees in the dreams of the companions:
"The nightmares of the taint are vicious, and Solas knows the Calling is soon. Each night Solas guides Blackwall through his personal hell. Ushering him through until the darkness of his dreams turns to images of long lost family."

Sorry for being a buzzkill for Solas fans. That was not the intention of pointing out who wrote what, despite the responses my comment provoked. As I did point out, each of the writers mentioned is perfectly capable of writing 2 or more compelling romance arcs, and if Solas is a LI, I will be the opposite of upset.
Headcanons aside, Blackwall chose the life of a GW and finds the sacrifice so worthwhile he's chosen to keep fighting evil even though the darkspawn battle is in remission. If he has personal demons or sorrows, it looks like he's doing a decent job hiding them. The calling is the last stage of a terminal illness, but there's no telling when it's going to happen and he's had a number of years to come to grips with the eventuality. Everyone who lives to a certain age (some younger than others) loses most of the people they care about, and how they deal with loss helps define them as a person. It's a normal part of life. A lot of times, the best thing to do is acknowledge and mourn, then move on and forge new connections, kind of like finding a new foe to fight when the old one has been vanquished...

Yeah, that's not creepy and stalkerish at all. Somehow I'm not thrilled with the idea of Solas invading and manipulating dreams of other people.
Cadash background sounds very intriguing. Should I call my boy don Vitorin? ![]()
