Well, Thane said from the get-go that he didn't have long to live. It's not that hard to believe his son eventually forced him into hospital care and he DID show up to keep Kai Lang from killing the Salarian councilor.

 

Honestly, tragic romances are always the best. The feels I feel every time my FemShep reads Thane's prayer, man...

Yes and they are being vague about whether he's a romancable npc or a companion. It seems really weird to me that the devs confirm him as LI before even confirming his companion status (I know Greg did reveal things with his tweet but unless it's confirmed by the devs themselves, things are not set in stone).

Cullen should be a warrior. IIRC Iron Bull was confirmed as a warrior, which means he's not a rogue, which means, with him and Cass confirmed, there's only one Warrior slot left.

 

I can think of things for Cullen to do besides be a companion. I can't think of things for Beardy to do besides be a companion, so he's hopefully the third Warrior and Cullen is a Significant NPC a la Traynor/Steve.

 

Of course this just might be my bias talking.

I'm on the fence about Cullen being a companion.  I'm biased towards him not being one, which is why I'm only "banking" on it.
