I'm torn now. D: I had really hoped to romance him with my male Mage... But alas, that cannot occur now. Now I either have to gender bend him, or have him romance someone else.. What are you guys' thoughts? ;3;

 

If you can tolerate gender bending him, then go for it.  

 

Would you be comfortable making a female character, but pretend that she is actually a feminine guy?  Perhaps you can make her androgynous looking in the CC?  I would try this personally, but constantly being called a female in game by everyone including Blackwall would break it for me.  Plus I'd still have to deal with the walking and running animations.

I'm sorry you don't buy that reason but as a bit of an amateur writer, it really does just turn out that way. 

I'm also a writer, and an actor, so i get it, but 100% of the 'strong knight' type characters being straight hits a bit more of an 'inherent bias with our society' mark. It's too common of a trope in any game that contains s/s relationships. Note, I'm not blaming Sheryl, or any writer, I'm blaming our society. You know how many people tell me I 'couldn't possibly be gay'? Too many.

Speaking as someone who was in a similar situation with Cullen and Dorian, go with whichever part of the character's concept you feel is more integral. I usually find it to be gender/race but YMMV.

It kinda depends on how you feel about playing females, and how important perceived gender is to your character's personality. It isn't as if there's much difference in dialogue between male and female protags.

 

Me, personally, I'm going to genderbend some of my planned inquisitors.... and pretend that they aren't. Yeah, In know, it won't be the same, but what are you going to do?

Don't plan a romance... make the character you want and see who actually has the most chemistry with them in game?

I'm too much of a planner haha! I mostly like to create the chara and their LI, then go from there. And I already planned someone for Dorian and Iron bull...perchance I should just do what you suggest and see what best fits. If I can survive not planning everything out, haha.

I'm fine with playing ladies, I might switch him to Dorian and make the one who would romance Dorian a lady for Blackwall.

I'm honestly sorry that you have to put up with that.

I do agree they should of released the romances faster, not allowed people to build up certain expectation. That probably would of saved the Solas thread from burning to the ground.

Woo! Just saw the exciting news about Blackwall being a LI! I'm really happy about this and am so glad there's an older male option with a shaggy beard and lots of longer hair. This makes me anticipate the game even more... and I was already counting the days until November.

 

I'm really sorry that Blackwall is only available to women though. I know that has to sting a lot for some of you. I feel awfully bad about that.

Even though I am not big on romance, I am personally glad we have Blackwall as the straight female love interest. 

 

Heroic Grey Wardens with awesomesauce beards are always awesome. 

 

Additionally, I also like the fact we have warriors are the straight love interests. Would complement a rogue or a mage romance partner.

Yeah I know but if I had to pick my love interests, I would pick straight women for my male characters and straight men for my female characters.

 

I have had some personally bad experience dating bisexuals so they no longer interest me. Doesn't mean I hate bisexuals but after the things that happened, I am not into them, I usually run far away. 

 

Still, Ser Beefcakes ! My female Inquisitors are happy.

I love tumblr, it's just every time something romance related is posted they all have a meltdown and act like 5 year olds.

PS: I'm very sorry for guys who can't romance him. Trust me, if he was a m/m romance only, I would have made an extra male playthrough just for him, and would consider this as my main love story ever played. I know it hurts, but hey, we can be glad he is at least a romance.
