This.
Although I have no interest whatsoever in Blackwall as a LI, I hope there is no plot involving curing him of the taint. Characters shouldn't be cured of fatal diseases just because they are romanceable.

Of course not. There is, however, a precedence, and it could, for instance, be part of a bigger plot involving all Wardens. I get the feeling that the Wardens won't be what they were at the end of the story anyway.
Note that I'm just discussing possibilities here. I can live with either and I don't think one version would be more right than the other, or lesser.

I'll wait for the first encounter before I dare hope for that. With Thane, it was clear there wouldn't be a happy end right from the first encounter. Also, it's quite possible that the writers want to bring home to us exactly what it means to be a Warden, and Blackwall appears to be the type who accepts the full consequences of his choice to join them. As much I would want him to cheat his fate, that version is much trickier to write well, and i'd rather have a well-written tragic romance than a badly-written happy one.
Do do hope, though, that he'll be able to cheat his fate, not mainly because of the happy end to the romance (though that's obviously a factor), but because I like it if people can cheat apparently pre-ordained or inevitable fates.
From my perspective an unhappy ending for Blackwall means it's likely that Bull will be a happier one (since he was originally the only other straight female romance). Sounds pretty good to me, I liked the Thane/Garrus balance in ME2 of feels and fluff. I'll be sure to romance both of these lovely gentlemen at some point. Looks like my Cadash is going to be into big muscular men, fits her personality perfectly actually so I guess I lucked out.

That certainly is interesting. "Change is coming into this world..." and all that. I wonder if Last Flight will shed some light on this.
What I wouldn't like Fiona appearing from thin air, snapping her fingers and curing all Wardens from the taint, or something like that.

I think the problem with a story arc where Blackwall can be cured is that there are a lot more pitfalls and opportunities for the writer to stumble than the alternative. I think you summed it up perfectly in your previous post:

Having Blackwall cured without screwing that arc totally? The changes to do that: slim... really, really slim

Nah. Iron Bull's Not My Type . Luckily, my female Inquisitors have two more options, and I really like Solas... now if that's to end up in a tragic way as well, I'll be unhappy.
Odd, that. Blackwall and Solas couldn't be more different, physically.

I'm perfectly fine living in denial and headcanoning that he found a cure etc.
We had Alistair who is a Warden with dragon blood in him (supposedly) and is possibly resistant to the taint, also his mother got cured of the taint AND Anders who is also a Warden being cured by Justice. My point is that it's easy to find a reason for Blackwall to be resistant to the taint too, or at least easy to headcanon it ;P. If there's a way to cure the taint in-game I'm totally taking it.

So....it appears we're set to accept that Blackwall might be a tragic romance (even while some hope for more or silently headcanon their way out of heartbreak)? Good. It would be unpleasant to see the things that happened in Thane's threads repeat here.

Physically yes, but personality wise they've got some similarities, they seem to know how to strike a relatively clean balance between passion and reason, which can be a very appealing in a potential love interest.

While I didn't follow Thane thread (didn't like him), I thought it was not imminent death but mostly that Thane was handled as an afterthought (they forgot he is a LI or something) that angered people. They fixed it in Citadel DLC, but too little too late?

Between games I was more or less run out of the thread for expressing my desire for a tragic romance. (well, and shipping him with Miranda).

There seems to be some people hoping to cure him, but I think most of the Blackwall thread is happy to have a romance at all, seeing as how everyone was expecting the last two to be Viv and Solas.
Thane's illness wasn't nearly as central to his character as Blackwall's calling, so his death didn't felt a little more hollow.

You know, this may really be it. I do believe that passion needs to be tempered by reason, even in things like romances. Your statement hit the nail on the head.

Miranda? But he was clearly meant to be with Jack.
Miranda/Jacob
Garrus/Tali
Thane/Jack
That's how things are meant to go.
