I would like my warden's choice to save Avernus and research into a cure to be acknowledged in DA:I. Bonus points if it helps Blackwall.
Ooh, that'd be a cool callback!

Personally I am happy if it is left to happen off screen or what have you. I do badly ended romance irl well enough
I also hope we find out more about him soon so all the discussion about him isn't about his taint/calling or I will be rolling my eyes right on outta here ![]()

I'm glad I always picked that option, would hate for it to come back and bite me in the ass.
So...will you ship Blackwall with Vivienne?
Completely forgot about Kasumi... she and Thane had a lot in common as well...
Not that I ship Sera and Blackwall, that's not exactly equivalent.
Well, what I like about Blackwall (beyond physical attraction) is he's dedicated to a cause and knows who he is. That's something all my Inquisitors will share. They're going to throw themselves 100% into the Inquisitor thing. First in, last out. Happiness secondary to duty and can quote that Lovelace poem with sincerity. "I could not love thee dear so much, loved I not honor more." I think Blackwall shares those values.
Totally aware that as a GW, he's got a limited lifespan. Because of post-game exploration possibilities, I doubt his death scene will be included in the story arc. Perhaps an acknowledgement that his time is drawing to a close. Whatevs. At least I won't have to worry about my headcanon blowing up in my face in future games. If they decide to do a Thane (whose name reminds me of Thanatos, god of death), oh well, there are worse ways to end a story. That's all it is, a story. Some end just when they were really gettting good and others drag on forever and you only wish they'd end. As far as romances go, when this one is over there are still 7 more to choose from.

Speaking of previous choices, I wonder if/how Blackwall's dialogue (or story) will change if you spared or killed the Architect. I imagine that the Architect (if alive) and/or Corypheus has something to do with why the Inquisition is fighting the Wardens in that one trailer.

>.> I didn't have a problem with the Thane's ending. <.<
I actually thought the last time you speak to him was well done.
I wasn't upset with it from a romance perspective either, we knew he was going to die very soon. i actually expected less closure then what we got. >.>
I'm all for Blackwall's Calling. I'd love to have my Dwarven Rogue Femquisitor head into the Deep Roads or Blight-Lands or wherever Blackwall is 'called' to move, and have them both go down fighting together, when that inevitable darkspawn-y end comes. The Grey Warden/Dwarven kinship fuels my feels.

I'd bet my money on Corypheus being somewhat involved with facing wardens. He clearly didn't die in legacy and he can influence warden as he did to Janeka.
Over all I really want that we'd be able to finally see what the wardens been up to after the blight. They're my favorite organization on Thedas so far.

Very classically romantic ![]()
However, my Inquisitor doesn't believe in throwing her life away if she can continue. She'll join him on the other side - if there is such a thing - soon enough. Not sure if I can come up with a character concept for the going-down-together variant.
I imagine Blackwall being part of the Orlesian Warden shout-out where they decided to send Riordan to Ferelden. The shrugs, the thrown out arms. Ah, you know, all the Orlesian drama.
I could see a choice where you could cure Blackwall, but knowing the writers, they'd probably make us choose between saving some troops/villagers/children and curing Blackwall.
If he is to die on his calling, I'd love if we could control Blackwall last moments, be in His shoes.
"Playing as Blackwall for this segment, battling in the deep roads alone against hordes of darkspawn, while hearing in the background the romantic/friendship/rivalry dialogues between him and the inquisitor, even when's his health's depleted, he won't go down and just keeps fighting (think Galuf from Final fantasy 5) while the screen slowly dimmers and the sound slowly goes silent... and then we cut to the Inquisitor at the deep road gates, silently watching the gates/crying at the gates/slamming your fists on the gates/etc depending on your emotion wheel choice"
*opens jar of tears* Hey the stock was running dry.

Hmm, good point. More reason to play Cadash.

The M in MD now stands for Mrs. Beefcakes.
I hope MD will upload a video from PAX featuring Blackwall-without-helmet-this-time-because-really.
Would Blackwall want to be cured? If being cured means not being a Warden any more?
Better yet, depending on what being cured takes, if it's something dark I could see him wanting to not do it. Not to mention he is damn proud of being a warden.

We could always go with the counteragument that him not being a warden doesn't invalidate the good he can do.
Being a warden and fight darkspawn to defend Thedas, being an Inquisition General (I would totally make him one) and fight demons to defend Thedas.
Different roads, same destination.
Very interesting to see Bioware using character archtypes such as Blackwall, characters usually serve as veteran mentors and nothing else. Most romances tend to be with the younger characters but this is a delightful change of age.
It's still a mystery as to why he joined the Wardens. He gives his life in the service of others, yes, but as we know, it's possible to do good things without being a Warden.
Oh no, the sadness is settling upon me.

Tragic backstory confirmed ?
Oddly, if Blackwall does die, that makes me more determined the Inquisitor should live and move on offscreen.
Oh I cannot even imagine the horribly depressing fanfiction that will be written if Blackwall goes to his calling.

Maybe he had a role model related to the Wardens. Maybe he really felt that the possibility of a Blight is the worst thing that could happen to Thedas and that's why he volunteered. I mean, he was already a Warden before DA:O, he couldn't know two lone Warden recruits would defeat the next Blight in record time.
And that makes me feel sad for him. Probably he felt that his choice was validated when the Blight appeared in Ferelden, but then it ended before he could do anything.

I can...![]()
Blackwall seems like a really cool character and i can't wait to befriend him in Inquisition. I was very surprised to hear that it was Blackwall, not Cullen who was the core straight female romance all along.
I do fear it won't have the "happiest" of endings however, given Blackwall's condition but that is fine as Thane from Mass Effect was the same way. I hope if Blackwall does end up dieing in the game that they have him go out with a bang.
