Inner perfectionist in me screams in horror when seeing 150+ hours. 9 playthroughs... Unless most of this time is spent on advisor's timed missions. :P

The game looks huge, ambitious and intimidating a little. I hope they'll pull this through!

After reading some forum threads it makes me sad that so many people deliberately restrict their roleplaying choices in race, gender, etc. Playing DAO I enjoyed different origins a lot. Still can't say which one was my favourite - both Dwarves, Cousland or female city elf. I was very surprised that only 5 % played as dwarves.

Seeing posts like "I always play male human two-handed warrior" or "I always play female human mage who romances Alistair" or "I can never play as a man/woman" and it's just wow. When a new RPG game arrives it's like a candy shop to me. So many possibilities! So why restrict yourself and not see most if not all available content? Do so many people want to project themselves into fantasy world or there are other reasons for that?
So what about you? Do you want to explore and try everything or you see your one and only Inquisitor as a predetermined character? Or maybe something in between?

I was surprised at the dwarf stats too; by the time I finished the dwarven commoner origin, my PC was ready to walk through an army of darkspawn and spit in the archdemon's eye for Duncan. I tried all the races and classes in different combinations and tried for different specs (not always successfully). It took me longer to get used to switching genders though, I guess because I like my PC to be someone I can imagine being, and there are things about being male I don't think I can understand. I finally tried it because I wanted a Morrigan romance with my PC fathering the OGB. I'll still prefer female PCs, but I did enjoy it (especially being able to stand up for her to the others).

Perhaps it comes from my personal experience - being raised mostly by my grandfather - I don't have much trouble associating myself with men. I also think that men and women are not that different and most differences are based on education and social constraints.
One of my favourite Warden was ladies man MCousland who started with Morrigan then switched to Leliana and ended up marrying Anora "for Ferelden!" because perspective of Alistair the King horrified him. Another was Prince Aeducan, loyal knight of Leliana, who was tired so much of Orzammar intrigues and wanted something good and sweet in his life. I love them both and enjoyed playing them as well as my female characters.

@CastonFolarus:  I think he has probably left the Wardens as well.  Probably because they are under the influence of Corypheus.  I'm sure he joins the Inquisition because he wants to kick some ass and set things right again.

I admit that when playing games that give a choice between playing male or female characters I used to always pick female.  Lately I have made a couple male human nobles and I'm liking it pretty good.  I will say that I only played dwarf and dalish elf long enough to get the origin achievement (don't hate me!). I keep saying that I'm going to finish them but I never have :(

@Ashelsu: That picture you posted is beautiful.  I love the eyes.  I think that's about the color they looked in the video with his close ups.

I have habit of always playing the first play through as female since I one and earlier in my games I never got too far with male characters tough mostly in DAO it was because I just can't make male I really like without spending decade on character creator. Luckily it's easier in DA 2 and hopefully DAI. Actually about half my play throughs in DA 2 are as male xP So I have gotten comfortable doing it.

For those who are planning to romance Blackwall, you'll need this:

He can tie me to the Wall any day.

Also for whoever was asking about his voice, he does not sound orlesian.  You can hear his voice in this video at 6:41ish:  https://www.youtube....h?v=PjRI_Y_d7Jk

You'll know it's him, there is a speech bubble next to his portrait when he speaks. He says "Don't waste time on them, head for the castle."

Actually, I'd be much more comfortable playing a male PC than a very (traditionally) feminine PC; almost all of my female PCs are aggressive and blunt (and I get seriously annoyed when my PC who is taller than her LI suddenly becomes shorter when they kiss-please don't let that happen with my Qunari-Blackwall romance, sigh). It's only when it comes to the romances and biology that I feel that there are things about being male (even if most of it is cultural conditioning) that I can't entirely understand. Not that I shouldn't try to, but there is a point that I accept that I haven't experienced the world in the same way. Maybe it's a lack of imagination on my part, I don't know.

I will play one male and one female (at the least). I hope I have the courage not to make all my characters tanks. I'm doing my first DA2 playthrough as a Mage and Maker did I need the console to defeat the Arishok. I suck as as a Mage, I can live with that.

I'm not really feeling the urge to play a man. So far my romance plans are Blackwall (qunari mage), Blackwall (elf mage, alt Josephine) and Cullen (elf warrior).

I have bad habit of doing dual wield rogues xP if not that usually mage (healer about 89% of time) Playing warrior is not really my forte but I try

I have three play through planned at this point (all female for now but I'll play guy too) not sure which play through is which and possibly some other character can come between but so far

Elven mage -> Blackwall!

Sassy Elven rogue -> Sera

Human mage (with DAO DA:A and DA2 with f!human mage bedhind) -> Cullen

I don't think the games are that sophisticated in portraying difference between men and women like in real life yet. ;)  Options are pretty limited.

Heh, qunari lady surely looked very tall in Redcliff demo comparing to Dorian. I don't know if companions will have the same body model. It would be disapointing if they will.

I found Doggy to be very helpful in distracting Arishok. Defeating him with a Spirit Healer Mage ... shudder... never again.

I actually tough that mage was easiest I have played him against. Next warrior, but trying to take him down with my dual wield rogue... that was a nightmare

Human noble warrior for Sera. I like to break racial and social barriers. :P

Ha! How different our experiences were. It was an easy kill for my assassin/duelist.

Does anyone else feel particularly drawn to Blackwall/mage? I think I am because I tend to give my mages an ethos of service.

Well I would otherwise (maybe on different play through) but got this idea of two elven rogues running around causing trouble I just have to have

Seems so. Well everyone plays with their own style so it does happen that something that's easy for one is difficult for other, but seems I need to try that assasin/duelist build next time

Well my qunari's gonna be a mage but I just like the whole warrior/mage combo in combat. :P

I guess he would prefer to be alive but that was not going to happen.

i'd like to see some sparring matches while the Inquisition soldiers watch how real warriors fight.

Group training (2 vs 1) or (3 vs 1)

Participants:

Blackwall

Iron Bull

Cassandra

Inquisitor (if a warrior)

participants take turns taking on the other 3

I'm probably going to be drawn to Blackwall/any class, but the desire to do something meaningful is going to give you a good way to relate to him.  I like to play fairly ethical mages myself - a nice break from the evil wizard/wicked witch thing.

Does Blackwall, Cass, Varric have a team name btw? I think they'll be my first party.
