Oh yeah, besides being a hunka-burnin-beard-love, he looks like he could wreck stuff. I resolved myself some time ago to be happy with what I get.

Probably a random question, but who came with the idea of naming the Grey Warden "Feathers"? I expected it more to be "Manly McBeefington" ![]()

It was Mary Kirby that said somewhere that he is actually Merrill's new pet baby griffon.

Yeah it's from a DA2 conversation between Merril and Bethany
Merrill: If you could do anything - just anything at all - what would you do?
Bethany: That's easy. Be normal. No magic, just... normal.
Merrill: Really? You wouldn't fly across Thedas or eat a cake the size of Kirkwall? Keep a baby griffon for a pet?
Bethany: Well, now that you say it, the griffon might not be so bad.
Merrill: I'd name mine "Feathers."

I am also picturing dialogue where someone comments that he stole Varric's beard/they have a magnificent hair-off/ his beard is congratulated on growing a rather magnificent human.
Iron Bull: Hm...
Varric: Should I be worried that you've been giving me the side-eye for the past hour, Big Guy?
IB: Apologies. I just... aren't dwarves supposed to have beards?
Varric: *heavy sigh* I feel like I've had this conversation before... Yes, dwarves generally have beards.
IB: But not you?
Varric: But not me.
Solas: I also found it a bit disappointing, to be honest. I mean, our comrade the Warden has the most impressive facial hair I've ever seen on a person, and he's merely human. What do you think?
GW: Oh, Maker, I have to hear this.
IB: *nods* That's true. The Warden's beard is very intimidating. Regal, one might say. Exactly how I'd imagine a proper dwarf's beard to be, actually.
Solas: Quite. Is it possible to name him our party's honorary dwarf, replacing our current, mediocre model?
Varric: Hey! I'm still right here, you know! Within earshot?
IB: *ignores him* I'd be okay with that. Inquisitor?
Quizzy: *struggling not to laugh* Fine by me!
Varric: Do I have some sort of sign on my back today? "Target This Dwarf For Snide Jokes"?
GW: Don't worry, Varric. I don't think I'm short enough to truly take your place.
Varric: Don't you start.

May I reminde all of you that want to romance him that he seems to be an old and seasoned member of the wardens? Most likely you'll get your romance night and then, at the end of Inquisition, you'll have to say goodbye to Feathers as he goes down a cave that leads to The Deep Roads because of his Calling.

He reminds me so much of Ulfric Stormcloak, Kodlak Whitemane, Halbarn Iron-Fur and Ulfberth War-Bear. War-Bear could indeed be his last name ![]()
Ah, and somehow I could imagine Beardy as the Nord warrior in the TES Online cinematic trailers.

So you think they'll go the Thane route with him if they make him an LI?

I don't think Bioware wants to go the Thane route again

Nothing wrong with a tragic romance. In fact, between Morrigan and Anders, they're practically a requirement for DA games.

Morrigan's romance had some semblance of a happy ending, though. With Anders the best you got was living on the run with your possessed criminal boyfriend.
That said, I do like their romance arcs, so if Beardy's followed theirs, I wouldn't mind. ...um, followed in terms of tragedy, not in terms of "I'm using you to get a godspawn/start a war".

Yes. I don't really see him going further that DA:I and maybe another game. He seems pretty old ( late 40's - early 50's) and we know that age can make The Taint work faster when it comes to destroying the body of a warden.Even if he wasn't a warden for a very long time period ,like let's say, Duncan, he'll still wither away pretty fast.

Eh, It'll be a nice change to have a Warden who's been in the Grey Wardens for a good period of time

I think one of the big differences between the Thane romance and a possible Warden romance is the fact that, unless they switch things up, we probably wouldn't be privy to the relationship beyond this game.
With Thane, it was pretty obviously that Shepard would have to face his declining health throughout the game series, since he was already "dying" in ME 2. If the series just ended there, we wouldn't really see that as such a tragic romance. But because Shepard had to see him die in ME 3, it became more tragic.
In theory, if the Warden were an LI (which I don't think he is, unfortunately), then the end of the game could be an ambiguous "the Inquisitor and his/her love, the Warden, traveled/disappeared/continued to lead/etc. and we wouldn't know first hand how the relationship ended.
