I've said numerous times that I don't believe there will be forced or scripted companion deaths in game (bad choice deaths are likely I think).  And I prefer it that way.  I don't need to see it to know how a Grey Warden ends.

Same here. I don't need or want to see the death. But there are so many stories where a cure is the only happy ending, I need reassurance it isn't.

Not in-game (there will be DLCs after all) but that it's coming and maybe they shouldn't make plans longer than a year into the future. And it will still have been worth it and no Quizzy isn't planning on dying with him.

What I mean is that I doubt they'll have it happen like that, and probably off-screen because everyone knows it's gonna happen.

Plus the rest of it can be left to headcanon

It seems to me that enough people have started to research into the Calling that they might have come up with something. I know they examined Fiona after she came back taint free. There is also Avernus or the Architect.

He is more than the taint. I don't want his his story to center around that. If it does, it'll be a huge disappointment.

1000x This!  Tell us stuff we don't know.

'Blackwall is going to die horribly soon'

'Blackwall fans are geezers'

'Blackwalls fans are only women with daddy issues'

'Blackwall will die midway through the game'

I have something to say to those things and things like that.

Damnit let me be at least pretend to have something nice that won't end horribly.

I don't need to see it or dwell on it to know how a Grey Warden ends.

I think this is a nice segway to talk about how a Grey Warden is, instead. Do you guys think there will be party benefits to having Blackwall travel with you? I know the darkspawn are going back to being mostly forgotten in favor of creatures of the Fade, but ... I don't have a good counterpoint to "but" with. xD

I, sadly, don't think it'll be brought up.

I personally feel like I don't need to be told anything.  If there is a cure, fine.  If there isn't, I'm fine with that too.  I would rather his story be about something else rather than stuff we've heard/seen in previous games/books/comics.  I hope that makes sense.  I'm not always real good at typing out what I'm thinking.

You mean like party buffs?  Mass Effect did that didn't they?  And Dragon Age 2 had the friendship/rivalry path buff thing as well I think.

I wonder if that will be carried over as well.

Maybe he would have a bonus against poison or some such?  I'm awful at this

I'm really interested in what being a Grey Warden actually means now. I think the order is changing and not just because of Corphy's influence. And I wonder what role the darkspawn will play in the catastrophe that happens to Thedas.

Turmoil in the wardens sounds like a good Blackwall story. I do wonder what insight he will bring us.

I think--don't quote me on this--that every companion has things only they can unlock. Maybe he knows where same GW caches are? Plus, GW are a secondary enemy.

Same XD. I know drama is always a thing in most romances in Bioware games, but why does everyone keep pushing the Calling thing? We had Wardens as romances before. I think we can have another romance like that without it resulting in the death of the LI. At least let us be optimistic about it until it happens.

I remember now that the Grey Warden Fortress was what the Inquisition was sieging in one of the first trailers ... I wonder whether it is because the Order itself is in opposition or if it does have something to do with Corypheus or the Architect. If anyone knows, I don't want to know. x3 Let me speculate in the dark.

You mean like party buffs?

Mostly, like whether he'll shout, "Darkspawn ahead!" when they're at a distance too far to be seen on screen. I wasn't sure if there would be passive buffs rather than active ones in DA2.

It's because Alistair was a new Warden and Anders was an up to 7 year Warden, but Blackwall is a 10+ year Warden.

): But sorry, I didn't mean to upset anybody.

We all know what the taint does to people, so hopefully its not gonna solely based on that. It should be acknowledged, but it shouldn't be oh my taint, nightmares, blah blah.

I just want him enjoying what time he's got left and not be mopey

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Edit: Also, there are special snowflake cases in the Wardens, even in the canon (Fiona and Anders being two examples).

Blackwall should not go on his Calling during DAI.

They should save that for the expansion.

I focus on the Calling for a few reasons.

1. Gaunt cheeks and what appear to be discolored eyes in promo pics.

2.I have chronic health issues and a disability. When I see people with chronic illness in media, they and I have something in common. Unfortunately, a lot of the time they're plaster saints for the benefit of our actual main character, there's a miracle cure so they won't have to actually face that slow slide, or the narrative starts treating death as ennobling in and of itself. A Calling isn't an illness, and I'm not dying, but seeing the Inquisitor and Blackwall enduring is still valuable for me.

Seeing that Bioware have a habit of our LI parting ways eventually, I wouldn't mind him going to his calling in the epilogue.  It makes the romance much more bitter sweet, since you can't headcanon a happy ending....unless we find a cure/delay :-/

His should be a pretty good story no matter which way it goes.  I really don't think his calling is going to be a big part of his involvement in the inquisition, but his being a warden might be.  I'm more interested in why he was tearing off the pendant on a scaffold and how it relates to what's going on with the wardens.  Will this story have griffons in it?  I don't think the reappearance of any companion is assured after this game, but with content that can only be accessed after the main quest is finished, Blackwall's story is as likely to be as long as any of the others'.  He might be pretty amused to watch everyone surreptitiously checking him for signs of taint, though, if he's got that kind of sense of humor.

I hate this kind of opinion. Even if there is an age gap - there is such an age phobia in western culture. Nothing wrong with being a mature man who has life experience and isn't going to stuff about. Same goes with mature women. It's absolutey mental how people don't see older people as romantic. dghrisughisrueg screw modern media wanting money over morals.

I mean, it will be really depressing if Blackwall is going through his Calling but it'd be really interesting.

it might come up once or twice, but i doubt they will center the whole story on it....  there's too much story with what's going on with the wardens for them to focus in on his calling

Think Blackwall will have his own opinions of Our Warden? As in he agrees or disagrees with our methods?

I'm sure that will depend what your Warden did. I don't suspect he'd approve of the Dark Ritual (as I don't suspect anyone would, really), and well, personally I hope that he would not approve of working with the Architect.
