About the much reviled Blackwall/Thane analogy: I do not get the same vibes from them at all.
Thane is an Atoner and a Deathseeker. He's basically just waiting to wrap-up his life. There is a palpable aura of goodbye and foreshadowed grief in almost every part of his story. Just watch his intro in ME2, with his words, the music and the image of a setting sun behind his shoulders. I would be extremely surprised - and greatly disappointed - if Blackwall was in any way similar. I expect a man in his prime, with death somewhere not too far in the future but still fully connected to the world he lives in, with a few things to regret (who hasn't got those) but nothing he needs to atone for, a man whose dedication to a cause hasn't removed his ability to enjoy the good moments in life to the fullest, like drinking a fine wine, knowing the supply is limited.
Maybe that's just my hope speaking, but I really think he might be somewhat like that. And I hope that's not something everyone else here would dislike... I feel like walking on eggs if I lean out of the window with my preferences like this.
No that's pretty much what I want as well.
