I'm a little bit sad that the Feathers Thread has only 29 pages, while Cullen has 135 here and ~4'500 in DA2 forum :crying:

Can somebody please explain it to me, 1) Why do people love Cullen? and 2) How can somebody not love Beardy?

1) He is a well looking character that has had pretty solid character development without being a companion and clinging to the Warden or Hawke for guidance. Also being a Templar that has a more greyer viewpoint on the Mage / Templar situation is rare and helps put him in the spotlight. He also has a loud, dedicated fan base who adore him for their own respective reasons.

2) Simple, we know basically nothing of the presumed Grey Warden companion other than what we have seen from artwork and screenshots.

We know relatively next to nothing about Beardy Warden; I mean we don't even know if he exists.  We just know his concept art is hot as hell.  Cullen's been around since the beginning and has had a pretty healthy, loyal fanbase.

Give it time.  Soon enough we'll be in this very thread yelling at each other over some kinda characterization, what exactly his hair color is, what his ideal date would be, or something.

Well, we know he's been in the gameplay vid as well, which could be a strong point in his favor.

Oh yes, I know.  We just don't have a lot to discuss at the moment.

Maybe we can discuss our love for older burly men in the meantime.

I'm game. ;)

It looks like he has an awesome sense of humor, which I'm really looking forward to. And for some reason, I keep picturing him with a Scottish accent.

He does seem to be guffawing at a very crude-looking joke in that one concept art, huh?  It suggests that he has a sense of humor in the very least.

As for his accent -- we may not know for sure for some time, but I am curious as to where he's from.  I mean, I understand the Wardens kinda wander all over the place, but he definitely wasn't in Ferelden during the DA:O events.

Well...Viv's from Montsimmard, which is also home to the Orlesian Grey Wardens. Maybe kill 2 birds with one stone.

It could be possible that he's the Grey Warden Alistair talked about in DAO, Gregor/Grigor

What was his deal? I cannot recall that one.

I'm a sucker for a gravelly deep voice, regardless of accent.  Can you just imagine?

Gregoir was a Warden that Alistair had an anecdote about back in the first game.  He recalled him being this big guy with a big beard.

It is.  And Yes, all the hours spent lamenting the lack of Nathaniel Howe.  Our pleas went unanswered.  Perhaps that is why I'm seeing Feathers as Richard Armitage already.

allistair's tale of grigor was of a man with a big bushy beard who could drink...  for every half a pint that all the others drank, grigor drank a full one and was still going by the time they all passed out...  duncan walked in and almost died laugh....  then allistair begins to whine again about duncan

Grigor died with the other wardens at Ostagar. While I don't doubt that Beard Warden will be similar in character, they're not the same person.

He's definitely from Thedas.

Given that all the wardens Alistair knew either died at Ostagar or had already gone on their calling, and he was specifically reminiscing about his time with the Ferelden wardens under Ducan's command when talking about Grigor, yes, it stands to reason that Grigor died with them at Ostagar.

Is it directly stated? No. But it's a bigger strain on the imagination that he's the same guy who should have died at Ostagar as opposed to another guy with a beard and a sense of humor.

Not entirely, there's also an Elven Grey Warden I think Alistair mentions who wasn't at Ostagar. So it's possible Gregor/Grigor wasn't there at the time

Yeah, it's implied that Grigor was a warden under Duncan.  Wasn't Alistair only made a Grey Warden shortly before the Warden?  If I'm remembering correctly, he states that he's the most junior and that's why he's accompanying you into the Wilds.  Given that Duncan is suspecting that a Blight is coming, it doesn't seem like he would have gone too long without bolstering the rosters a bit (and, frankly, the motley crew of the Warden, Davik, and Jory wouldn't really cut it).  So I would think that it couldn't have been that  long since Alistair knew Grigor.  It's not definitive, but it's likely that he was still with Duncan at that point.

I don't think he'll be Grigor, but I guess there's no reason why it couldn't be him, if they explain why he wasn't with Duncan at Ostagar.  Stranger things have happened, I guess (like Anders, Merrill, and Isabela all being in Kirkwall at the same time after each having met the Warden in Ferelden......)
