Blackwall Discussion Thread -- The Resolve! [Voiced by Alastair Parker]

TAC and 25th Anniversary versions of One Day More are even better.

What I really want are more character details, just to confirm I'm going to like him and not just the shadow version in my head.

I don't even dream of that. Judging by the Twitter thread, developers often talk about other characters on Twitter, especially Patrick Weekes, but I have never seen Blackwall mentioned. Sheryl Chee made pretty clear her point of view about any spoilers.
So, we wait till November. Frustrating, I know. It irks me that the best close-up picture of Blackwall we have was made randomly by two german fans who cared enough to bring the camera to his face. I don't know, maybe Blackwall has a dog and that dog ate marketing department's papers and they hate him or something. :rolleyes:

The Griffon Eggs could be a 'tease' like SOIAF / Game of Thrones Dragon Eggs. Inquisition being Book/Season 1.  Next game we get flight mechanics ala God of War Pegasus;)

Ouch. You just love them mysterious and obscure, don't you? :P

 

Which made we think we do know some positive things about Blackwall.

He is a Grey Warden - means badass.

He believes in protecting people from evil (not only darkspawn) and tries to do good.

He hates politicians. :P

He likes to drink with people and to share stories with them.

He is handsome mature man with epic beard.

And last, but not the least.

He. Has. Hair.

Mostly I just worry that the fact that Blackwall's a handsome older man with a strong sense of duty is causing me to overlay other characters onto him. If that makes sense at all.

I completely agree with you, jtav.  What we know is so attractive, I'm tending to envision he's going to be absolutely perfect in every way.  Nothing to prove me wrong so far, but they haven't shown him in a kilt yet...

 

@ Ashelsu - I adore the longsuffering look on his face.  Perfect.

I wish there was more on Blackwall as well. I don't like the whole mysterious thing and I like spoilers so I guess I'm just biased. I've been thinking about the Blackwall romance and can't help but wish we knew more about him. Physically speaking, I'm not generally into beards but personality is far more important for me so I wish we knew more. I really like grey warden characters and I'm very excited we get to romance one (yeah, Alistair and Anders don't count...I mean I liked their romances but Alistair was a new warden and Anders could barely be called that).

My English is not great. Do you mean you project some other handsome older characters onto him and are afraid of failing your expectations?

Both actually. I like some traits we know unreservedly and those are what are getting the most attention, but I worry I'm downplaying things I don't care for and giving him traits vaguely similar characters have had.

LOL Nope xD I chose this nickname before even trying to play DA2 (still haven't managed to finish one run, I keep getting bored <.<) and I was referring to what I am in real life. I don't belong to any religion nor any political party, I'm what is called a freethinker (?) and I keep listening to everybody and no one, searching the 'truth' by my own. I also live in a small house in the mountains among the woods with my bf and my animals. I love solitude. That's where the lonely seeker came from   :wizard:

Well, I was complaining today how devs never mention Blackwall on twitter and marketing hates him and here we go.

German fans took a video from demo, and then some kind soul (RynJ) made screenshots from it and brought them here.

So we found out that Blackwall is actually handsome. Here is their compilation.
