If you got a Fade tear, Yo, I'll solve it,
Check out this genlock while Blackwall resolves it.
Slice, slice, baby...
I was thinking last night about the different sources that might have inspired elements of the plot in DAO, and to a much lesser extent, DA2. The whole Alistair/Morrigan/Maric/OGB thing has a sort of Arthurian flavor, which was touched on in the annotations in the comics. Leliana and Cassandra both have elements of Joan of Arc, at least to me. Flemeth/Yavanna/Morrigan can be the Macbeth's witches, or the Fates from mythology. My thoughts do always fall apart when I get to DA2, since their characters seem to have a legend and lore basis drawn from Disney. Granted, Disney draws on its own stories, but it's a bit tough to draw on the tragedy of Hamlet through the lens of The Lion King.
Blackwall isn't a prince trying to reclaim his country's glory, so there doesn't seem to be any parallel to either of the Tolkien heroes, but there's no reason a look borrowed from one source can't be applied to a character from a different story. Nor does there have to be any real parallel to follow, since even if a story starts a certain way, it doesn't have to end that way.
A walking spoiler? I don't get what you mean with this, anyway if you're talking about me I'm not a guy
Sean Bean is a walking spoiler because his characters die almost every time (including video games. Poor Martin.)
Spoiler, because extreme violence.
@Magdalena11
A little joke, if you will indulge me. ![]()
What games is DA:I ripping off?
We can open and close tears to another dimension: Bioshock Infinite
We can send agents to do missions off-camera: Assassin's Creed 4
We have a stronghold that we can customize: Assassin's Creed 2,3,4
Weapon Crafting: Skyrim
Bombs and grenade weapons: Bomber man, Assassin's Creed
Spirits possessing corpses to animate them: Fable series
Enemies mutated by an addictive substance: Bioshock 1 and 2
Managing resources: Civilization series
Building an army to take over areas: Command and Conquer series.
Etc. etc.
Seriously though, this game is mixing Sandbox (exploration), RPG (leveling, equipment upgrading), Real Time Strategy (army building, resource management), Turn Based Strategy (tactical camera) and Adventure (effect on the world) elements. It's going to be interesting to say the least.

Oh, I was joking, I know it quite well: Boromir dies, Ned Stark dies, even the bad guy in Equilibrium dies... and I guess it's quite clear I'm not a guy by now
... you know, it's Italian humor, sorry
Anyway if we follow this school of thought Rendon Howe should be a transsexual
(another gem of Italian humor)
Yeah, the guys don't fare too well in the stories, do they? As Basement Cat points out, it should be an interesting game.
Actually, the first comparison that came to my mind after watching teaser trailer was Oblivion. (Demons' invasion pouring through the gates which you have an ability to close). Nothing is new under the Moon. I hope they will manage, with all the new things they are trying. I love exploration experience you can have in the Elder Scrolls games, and if someone will manage to unite this with BioWare's forte - storytelling and characters - it will be a truly amazing game. So ambitious, though.
Funny thing about going "This stole this from this". Just about any game can be connected to another if you make it vague enough. For example, customizing the Skyhold is totally stolen from Animal Crossing cause customizing a house.

Jesus ****** christ. Sean Bean has died in so many epic ways...
Dear Bioware gods, I pray to thee that Sean Bean is not the voice actor for Blackwall. Amen.

Customizing a house with things you get to choose the decor from, no less. Sounds more like the Sims to me.

I say Sims Medieval for giggles.

Is there a reason Blackwall's VA still hasn't been announced yet??
The only possible reason I can think of is that it must be a big name actor... I haven't followed this thread as closely as I should have, but it seems like some of you guys think it could be Sean Bean?? That would be EPIC.
I would create a female character just to romance him...!!!

People speculate, yes.
Versions suggested so far.
1. Alastair Parker
2. Stephen Dillane
3. Richard Armitage
4. Sean Bean.
Obviously, big names are mostly wishful thinking. I'm inclining more to Alastair Parker (realistic approach). Here is his voice sample
Blackwall's voice not being announced yet doesn't mean his actor is someone famous. Our Grey Warden was in the shadows most part of the marketing campaign. So his voice being announced last doesn't surprise me at all.
Have fun trying to match his voice until he is revealed.
You can't make a lot from just one phrase Blackwall says in demo, though.
Aside from Alistair Parker, I'm not hearing the others mentioned at all from the one line we can hear. I think it was posted a page or 2 back that they didn't think he'd done a Dragon Age game before, right? Has Mr. Parker? I'll have to see if I can look that up.

Alastair Parker did additional voices in ME3, like Gideon Emery did them in DAO. He's a possibility, and his voice could be Blackwall's. A sentence isn't a lot to go on.
I think it is too, also I'm early with Xmas Blackwall.
my gift to you wall climbers!

Such a serious Santa. He reminds me of Kris Kringle from Rise of the Guardians.

If Alastair Parker turns out to be BW's VA, that would be fine with me. I am more worried about BW being killed with no way to save him, like another LI that shall not be named
