Well, the impression i got was that the objectives listed under "Here lies the abyss" were major objectives of the campaign, so it could very well refer to Blackwall. Im still not sure though ... :s

Yeah, it seems to be a main plot quest.

I just hope if we do pick up Blackwall on a quest, it's one early in the game, not two thirds of the way into it like Oghren.  Hopefully, the order information is being released in has no correlation to the order companions are picked up.

I still think Viv, Blackwall and Sera will be recruited in Orlais. Question is, how far it is in the game.

I should really stop watching these youtube videos. DW Rogue is my favourite class. What they are doing is just... painful. :(

I wonder if it's possible to miss picking up certain companions. Like it seems for certain that you'll have Cass and Varric right off the bat. But I remember missing Leliana completely the first time I played Origins (I never walked into the tavern in Lothering. Completely missed her!) Plus, you can choose to kill Zevran or let him go. And I also found that if I didn't pick up the side quests in DA2, that I could completely miss getting Fenris, and also Isabela, if you never go and talk to her in the Hanged Man.

I assume a few companions are tied to side quests (I'm guessing Sera and Iron Bull)

RPG rule № 1: Always head for the local tavern first to pick up rumors and quests. ;)

I almost missed Isabela on the second playthrough, though. How was I supposed to know you can only recruit her after Anders? I postponed Anders' recruitment till the end of Act 1, and naturally, no Isabela for me. (Probably because they both use the Chantry). I hope there will be no such thing in the Inquisition, for example, no Sera before you recruit Viv or something.

Hi.

I'm pretty sure they said in some interview that they've tried to make the "recruitment" side quests harder to miss this time, to avoid situations like the ones with Leliana or, say, Fenris. Can't remember who said it though, probably Gaider?

If I wind up missing Blackwall I'll definitely reload.  I missed Isabela first time through, because I was overwhelmed by side quests and didn't even want to see another NPC with an exclamation point over their head.  I don't know what the answer is there, since I did see the exclamation point, I just didn't know who she was and just knew I had about 20 open quests going.  I hate spending as much time in the journal trying to figure out what I'm supposed to be doing next as I do playing

I have a tendency to just have one save file that I continuously save over, or on pc I just stick with quicksave. So if I miss him I'm going to quite happily start over. Because I simply have to have him as my first playthrough LI.

I wish I hadn't spoiled myself like I have, but I just couldn't resist them.

I have no idea how you can play like that. I tend to have separate saves before every suspected critical event and I keep them all.

This is my great fear - that I will either take forever to recruit Blackwall or miss him entirely.  If I found out during my first run that I missed my chance to recruit him, I could see myself starting a new game.

Mostly I worry about stumbling into a point of no return or not taking Blackwall on a quest where he'd have good dialogue. I'm hoping he's more an Anders than a Zevran.

Yeah, just watched the Twitch archive and was disappointed to see that we won't be starting out with Blackwall.  Now I'm going to have to resist the urge to research exactly when and where we'll encounter him and blow through everything prior in record time.

I don't think the warden in "the abyss" is Blackwall.  Sandal's VA is voicing a character named The Warden, according to IMDb, at any rate.  Blackwall's probably got a bit of extra dialogue if you bring him along for that quest, I bet, like if you bring Dorian to Redcliffe.  That would be pretty cool.

I don't have the quote either, but I think Laidlaw was more referring to the First Warden at Weisshaupt Fortress. It seems like he's getting a little too into the politics of the Anderfels as of late, and he was pretty keen on getting the Warden's a position in the Amaranthine. The Wardens aren't as unified as people are led to believe, though. I'm starting to follow the train of thought that the Wardens are dividing.

The Wardens in the Anderfels rule there and sit on the throne.  If you put Alistair on the throne then that makes two Warden Kings in Thedas.  Riordan mentions this if you speak with him in Arl Eamon's city estate. Amaranthine was an experiment for the Wardens and the First Warden does claim in the epilogue slides that your Arling is a success even if you burn Amaranthine, which at the time I thought was very interesting.  Yeah, I'd agree, seems to be a split of some kind.

I'm hoping in this game we get an idea of what other wardens thought of you being alive if you did the DR.

I expect a lot of people who does not follow the game closely will miss followers, unless they are mandatory like Alistair or Anders. However, I will probably turn over every rock to find out if anybody is hiding under it. :D

Considering Cassandra has Templar spec (what a surprise), it seems Blackwall is a Champion. Which probably means his skills will have better synergy with sword and shield, does it?

It's not really something I intend to do. I just get into the game and forget to make a new file.

Also, Blackwall is a very, very attractive guy. But has anyone else thought he'd be even sexier with an Aragorn like hairstyle ?
