You forgot Dorian who apparently is superawesome.
What fans know at this moment and assumptions they have for character's story arc can be very far from reality. Remember how even here we've heard too many times about Blackwall: "no way, he is too old, he is ugly, his calling is 5 minutes after you meet him"?
I will be extremely surprised and disappointed  sorrowfully if Bull talks about sex only, Vivienne looks at her mirror 24/7 and all Solas wants is 10 elven babies. In a month we'll find out.

There is no win in depicting character's flaws.
1) Character has flaws.
Reaction: This characters sucks! He/she makes mistakes! Burn him/her with fire!
2) Character has no flaws.
Reaction: Mary Sue! Burn him/her with fire!

It's hard to find a balance.

 

I also hope that "Seekers don't need lyrium to use Templar's abilities" will be addressed in the game. My pro-templar characters will have some questions to the Chantry.

I didn't forget Dorian - he is super awesome, but he's also not into female inquisitors.  Nor did I forget Varric or Cole, who aren't LIs.  I would just adore to see, for once, the flaws handed out equally for once.

 

I know Blackwall's not likely to go on his calling as part of the plot, it takes two to make a baby and it's unlikely to happen in-game regardless, Cullen's not going to be selling secrets for lyrium or losing his mind halfway through, and there's not likely to be a Qunari invasion fueled by leaked info (this game.)  I also know that sending companions/advisers I resent in their perfection on suicide missions isn't a nice thing to do.  I just really hope that there are NO Mary Sues this game.  I'm already struggling to avoid the urge to be vindictive and the game's not out yet.

 

I wouldn't worry too much about lyrium in any case.  The templar inquisitor isn't going to be raiding Cullen's stash or going through withdrawal.  It would create way too much class imbalance to be practical.

 

Don't mind me.  I'm just venting.  I actually do like Cass a lot and will probably bring her along whenever I can.  I never killed Leliana in DAO either, and sometimes I even help Tallis with Salit.  I don't worry about Fiona, because I thought she was fine in The Calling and she's only rumored to be in the game in any case.

Oh, I understand perfectly. I myself have a lot of prejudice and bias, some of them irrational. (I can not stand Fiona and Alistair). And allergic to male mages after Anders and Jowan.

At this point poor Solas has zero chances, being an apostate mage, a male elf (ugh), a Cole's buddy (I dislike Cole) and racegated (I don't like Dalish and am cautious about reasons for racegating).
However.
Given how much my views of Isabella, Anders and Merrill before and after the game changed, I'm probably a poor judge of characters. Then again, Anders and Merrill were unrecognisable.

I plan to play fem qunari as my first playthrough because she just looks awesome.  And since I can't wait to do Blackwall's romance, I think they will be paired.  However, Aimo's art for fem dwarf/Blackwall is swaying me heavily over to that end.  Maybe I will break my mold and start with dwarf.  I rarely play dwarf... maybe because I'm almost dwarf-sized in RL.

 

As for the other male companions, Cullen looks most interesting, although I still harbour some anti-Templar sentiment, so he has got to win me over, lol.  Dorian also seems fabulous, so I will probably reserve him for when I play a male quizzy.  Or Cass if I want to play him straight.

I seem to remember one of the devs saying he likes to "talk shop" with Cassandra.  And didn't someone say he, Iron Bull and Sera made up team vulgar?

I'm hoping it will be more of a Grey Knight - white and black seem too extreme frankly, and I don't mean that as a grey warden pun; I mean that although he's driven to do what is right to see the world of man (and mer, etc) continue on, that is not always going to follow the straight-forward good path (it rarely does).

Maybe he has his own share of darkness inside (what led him to joint he Wardens of his own free will? perhaps something occurred in his former life that made him feel as if leaving it behind was the best way), plus possible Grey Warden activities of late that conflict him and enticed him to set out on his own.

 

I guess I imagine him as a Grey Warden traditionalist, perhaps not all too happy about certain things that the GW's are doing these days? I may be utterly wrong, but from what little we've seen, this is what I surmise in my head.
