Exactly, he could be from anywhere. I've kind of leaned toward the Free Marches or the Anderfels, but it occurs to me that he's got a bit of the same look as Cassandra, so maybe Navarre?

Now that I think about it, if he was stationed in Orlais as second-in-command, I guess he probably knew Riordan. Was probably involved in sending him to Ferelden, seeing as he was so opposed to Loghain's decision. 

 

And doubly now that I think about it, maybe him being Fereldan in origin is why he wasn't willing to just dismiss Ferelden as a lost cause.

It seems they decided to make a fake accent for Nevarrans (Cass). Judging by his letter, he is neither Fereldan, nor Orlesian. So I vote for Free Marches, melting pot of Thedas. I wonder what his real name is and why he decided to become Blackwall. Part of his personal quest perhaps.

That's my guess too. Blackwall was involved in the decision to send Riordan across the border. I imagine a 'French debate' of epic proportions. I also think Blackwall knew , or had met Duncan. He's kind of a link.

Blackwall just MIGHT end up as my Inquisitor's bro in command, fighting over this position with Varric.  I could have both, and Cassandra, but that would mean I would be spending less time controlling my undead mooks and raining hell down upon my foes if I have to heal, which I will almost certainly do, instead of having another Mage present (Solas in this case).  

 

Choices...

 

Cassandra, Blackwall, Varric...I might just pick up them and stop complaining about having to heal where necessary.  Who knows at this point, I will likely be alternating out Cassandra and Blackwall, with Varric and Solas as mainstays, plus it makes me happy to have a four man party with a Human, Elf, Dwarf, and Qunari.  The race equality makes me giddy for some reason.

I would think that's a reason to romance him with a human or elf if ever there was one. The stretch.

 

Dirty thoughts of our Quizzie walking into the baths and dropping her towel, completely unaware that Blackwall is already there washing - and palming - himself in that state (entertaining thoughts of the woman in question). When they notice each other, his 'rising predicament' can no longer be ignored and Quizzie is willing to take full responsibility for what she has caused.

 

Later, both exit with flushed cheeks - Blackwall with a spring in his step and Quizzie with a slight limp in hers.

 

Okay, I'll stop being so horribly dirty if I must..
