After watching the sream again, it seems Blackwall was working at the workbench. And it's a rocking horse!

Really good catch, Ashelsu. I never would have noticed that if you hadn't pointed it out. After looking at the stream again (while on PC and not my phone) I can definitely see the rocking horse. I say rocking horse because it looks like a rocking horse rather than a rocking chair to me.

Exactly my thought. Surely there is some general chatter they could have shown, or at the very least one or two small, insignificant cutscene (or even non-cutscene) interjections so we can get a tiny glimpse into how he holds himself in conversation. At the very least let us see him in the party during combat.

 

I mean gosh, they have shown spoilers from the war table, Josie, etc - would it even be so horrifically bad if they showed some tiny Blackwall spoiler?

 

The biggest worry I have is that we are building him up to be someone he isn't, because we lack the perspective that all those that are fans of the other characters are getting. I don't want to end up being disappointed because the fan-made Blackwall ends up being so much more amazing then the real one. Throw us a bone here, Bioware, and let us regulate/orientate our image of Blackwall!

I hate to say it, but I'm starting to shift to Cullen just because I feel like I have a sense of who he is. C'mon BW, give me some banter.

What we do know of Blackwall - precious little that it is - is still enough or me to want to make him my first and main romance. That and the fact that visually he is the perfect representation of what I find attractive in a man aesthetics-wise. I'm sticking with him come hell or highwater.

 

Also, I love a man that is good with his hands. Bet the rocking horse shaped like a griffin was meant for some child he lost. It makes me think my theory of him losing a wife and child to the Darkspawn (and his drive to join the grey wardens by his own free will) may not be far from the truth.. I'll be interested in seeing anyways.

 

I just dislike that Bioware are sharing so much about most of the other characters and giving us nothing on Blackwall. The fact that they ran right past him after engaging a bunch of other characters really struck a nerve when I watched that vid.

My theory on why they skipped over Blackwall is that they were too far in and it would only lead to spoilers.  I was very disappointed as that was specifically what I was watching for.

They don't just wing it with the footage they show, they plan what they're going to show beforehand and I'm pretty sure it would not have been that hard to find something to show us for Blackwall.

At the very least they could have easily ran up to him and not actually engaged him, just let us get a close look at him and his space, or show him in combat. I don't see how that would be spoiler-ish unless he spends the whole time talking about his reasons for being there, even while hacking up enemies and bleeding out while the quizzie conserves her healing potions.

 

But in any case, I'll avoid going on about this any further - until the next live stream that yet-again turns out to be a disappointment to Blackwall fans.

Now that I think about it, I don't think it's anything so dramatic as plot spoilers.  The devs were playing someone else's save (I think DG's.)  There might have been dialogue tone spoilers based on his approval they didn't know about, or who knows, he might have been romanced and they sure wouldn't give that away.  They also might have felt that having a nice chat with Cullen was enough for one demo.  Regardless, waiting isn't all that fun, but it's all we can do.  They didn't even show some of the companions.

I believe they were playing Mike Laidlaws save.  So they could have been at a spoilery conversation.  That's why I think they avoided him.  I saw Cameron say that doing that stream was tense because he was trying to avoid spoilers.  I'm still hoping for something in the next couple weeks.  *optimist*

Well, we don't need to know his mother's maiden name or something. Just...something to chew on until release, comparable to what the others have gotten. :/
