So... anyone finished his romance yet? I've heard (and seen) that he leaves you if you sleep with him, but is that part of his revelations quest if you're in a romance, or does he break up with you for good?

 

I did. It's just part of the plot and consequences will be for you to decide. And if someone was wondering, without spoilers, there's actually can be a happy ending.

I'm at Skyhold, Every companion has their specialization except Blackwall and Cole. They just have the basic talent trees.

 

Anyone know how to fix this?

Yeah, I think this is the best path for him. I think it's a bit biased to allow him to get away from what he did scotch free. What he did is still terrible, and I think letting him go without penalty wouldn't be fair. It's Loghain 2.0 if you ask me.

My Inquisitor didn't give a **** about "fair." And frankly, she doesn't buy into the thought that's the best way for him to atone. So he got his freedom. HE seemed to agree with you, of course, that it was not exactly fair. But my Inquisitor wasn't particularly interested in FORCING him to be a Warden. If he winds up wanting to do it after all this is over on his own, fine. 

 

She doesn't have the high opinion of the Wardens he does anyway. He wants to serve a greater good, the Inquisition is doing a much better job of it at the moment.

When do you start getting more personal quests for Blackeall, out of curiosity? I still have the Memories of the Grey thing I'm getting through but there's been nothing since. Just completed 'Here Lies the Abyss.'

After orlesian ball. I must say Memories of the Grey was a..disappointment. I hoped for at least some conversation or banter after it's completion, but there's nothing, it's just a way to get his approval and influence for inquisition.

Too many spoiler tags for me to really be able to participate here, but.. Maker, that Blackwall. I surprised myself by choosing him over Cullen.   Kinda sad I didn't get to participate in this thread prior to the release! You are one cool lot, you are.  Anyway, back to the love fest! Can't wait to chat more about him!

Hey there, Blackwallers!  I am back from a self-imposed blackout!

 

Thoughts under the spoiler:

I kinda saw the lie pretty early on; right around the time he took the Inquisitor to the ruins at Storm Coast I started getting suspicious.  It was fascinating watching it all unravel.  Once I got the intel about Mornay, I was like OH NO HERE IT COMES.

 

That scene in the prison was AMAZING.  So very well done all around, with the framing and the lighting and the sound.  Alistair Parker hit it out of the ballpark with the voice acting, and of course Sheryl is just a super awesome writer and I love her to bits.

 

I ate this romance up.  My Inquisitor ultimately decided to free him so that he could atone properly as the man he is.  I think she was too irritated at the Wardens to let him go there, or maybe she was too afraid that she would lose him.  She is awfully sentimental, to a fault. It was quite a twist to a sort of beauty and the beast story!

 

Also, if anyone is befriending Dorian during their playthrough, have you:

Heard him talk about your and Blackwall's relationship?  It's quite cute. :> There's also some reactive party banter, where Blackwall barks at Dorian for sticking his nose in their business.   "LEAVE. IT. BE."  I laughed quite a bit at that.

I have been a big Cullen fan for a few years and was very excited to hear he was a romance for DAI.  I was so looking forward to romancing him.  

 

But Blackwall is trying to scupper my plans.  I absolutely love him, he has such a great manner about him.  He has put me in a quandary and I really don't know what to do!  Damn you Blackwall!

Definitely, that scene was something special while having him as a romance at the same time. Honestly didn't see that one coming at all but I suppose that one is on me for being too trusting towards such a personality type

Just got to that...my Inquisitor is romancing him, so...that was a very conflicting series of revelations. :S

The judgement scene if you're romancing him is pretty heavy too. Bajeesus.

Yes, actually. Take Blackwall and Cole to an area that isn't Skyhold and their specs should be unlocked. Worked for me when Vivienne and Sera's specs weren't available.

Does the order matter? I did the Orlesian ball first and finished Memories of the Grey a bit afterward because I had not yet found the op that allowed me to get to the last relic I needed until after the ball. Will say that the dance on the balcony was nice - don't even mind the fact that

he isn't who he says he is (unintentionally read some spoilers in here about that, but I was already slightly suspicious anyway) because I believe in giving someone a chance to redeem themselves - especially if it's an LI, heh.

Slightly worried that I screwed something up since he hasn't really said anything major after we got back to Skyhold. Well, he did comment on the ball, but that's pretty much been it. Haven't done that Hawke-related quest yet, just in case it's one of the triggers.

I don't think that Memories of the Grey would influence anything. But it can be Hawke-related quest, since I finished it before orlesian ball.

My god the Blackwall scene after Arbor Wilds if you romance him:

I saw that he finished the rocking horse griffon and he said it was for the children in the camps because he thought it might cheer them up, so I just nearly lost it with the feels (I'm extremely sentimental like that).  Plus I was cooing because it seems he has artistic talent and that's just a thing for me. ♥

 

What an emotional roller coaster he has put me on.

 

Oh, and a thought about the Arbor Wilds:

It appears Blackwall and Dorian highly object to the Inquisitor drinking from the well if they are in an active romance (Sera objects no matter what, Cassandra I thiiiink approves if only because she doesn't trust Morrigan, Solas approves, Iron Bull also approves).  Blackwall does say "I don't want to lose you" if you ask his opinion on the matter.  If he's not romanced, apparently he approves of the Inquisitor drinking from the well as a way to stop Corypheus.  I thought it was a very selfish, but very human reaction on his part.

I got warned off Blackwall back when we only had the one vid. But I just did his quest and really wish I'd gone with him. I also have the urge to write a ten page essay on what the right choice is.

I think Blackwall has a lot of replay value to him.  He is kinda dull until you figure out what his deal is, then you can look back and go "OOOOH he was so totally lying here."  The most fascinating thing about him is that he's, compared to the rest of the party anyway, a relatively average man.  He hardly understands any of the magical/supernatural crap going on around him, besides the fact that it appears that innocent people are being trampled on by folks in charge/power and that someone has to stand up for them.
