Yes! Chains should have been removed.
Actually, I quite liked this dynamic of embarrassment. Before the big revelation, there was some party banter where Blackwall shut someone down pretty hard for asking about him and the Inquisitor. (I think it was Dorian, wanting to record the facts for posterity.) I liked to imagine my Inquisitor joining the conversation and telling Blackwall that she didn't mind if everyone knew that she loved him, that in fact she'd be proud. I then saw the echo of this in the judgement scene. Obviously it wasn't written as echoing something I only imagined, but it fit perfectly as him finally deciding to also take the attitude of refusing to be ashamed of their relationship. Let everyone know, even if it's a violation of proper etiquette.
I do recall Dorian asking something or making a comment about the romance while we were out exploring, unfortunately I don't remember exactly what it was, but I think it was the recording facts for posterity thing that you mentioned. I'm pretty sure it ended with Blackwall going "Let...It...Go." (Maybe with periods and not ellipses, but you get the idea). You could almost hear the man gritting his teeth - haha.
I have had some interesting banter after Revelations that deals with the fallout with other companions - Solas took a shot at him the other day about what he did (I cringed, but I believe Solas was understandably upset). And last night, Dorian started snarking a bit about what he'd done, but (and Dorian, you really are a nice guy

) Dorian ended up apologizing for the comment he had made and said that he understood about wanting/needing to atone.
Best line last night was Blackwall's line about leeches because we were in a swamp, though.
