Does anyone here romance Blackwall with a qunquisitor?

Because I did and I got scaled down during romance scenes! I don't know if it's just a bug or a really ugly, lazy way of not having a separate animation for qunaris. It's sad, because I would really have enjoyed the romance if I could have focused properly instead of screaming in terror at the tiny, strangely proportioned scaled-down version of my tall qunari.

I was really sad and put off when I first noticed this. I can only hope they will fix it some day.

I took him with me for the Adamant quest and thus had him in the Fade, and it sort of clicked that the theories were true when Corypheus basically said he was 'nothing like a Warden.'

Lawd, that was probably the most conflicting thing ever while romancing him. I mean, can you imagine your Inquisitor's feelings there, falling for somebody than learning he's somebody else entirely, and it was all just a lie he was telling himself? Freaky.

Forgave him anyway, though. The kiss in the judgement scene was a bit 'Get a room!' I have to say. :S

Just popping in to say that I'm midway through the romance (I think?). Concerning the main, spoilery turn of events:

It seemed very obvious from the badge recovery mission onwards that he wasn't really Blackwall, but that the real Blackwall had died and he'd taken his place. Whenever Grey Warden-y things came up, he was often super-vague, trying to hide his lack of knowledge. I didn't guess his particular reason for being so secretive, as I didn't know about who Rainier was or what he'd done. However, I assumed that he had something to be ashamed of in his old life (probably some military atrocity; I guessed he'd followed an order he shouldn't have, rather than giving one), and had been recruited as a Grey Warden but never actually did the joining.

If I could see it, my Inquisitor could see it, so I wish there'd been an option in the aftermath for her to say: "I knew." Because I was interpreting her lack of ability to bring up what she'd noticed as her deciding to trust him to tell her in his own good time. Realistically, I don't see how it could be written to let her say something beforehand, as the very option to do so would spoil players who hadn't guessed. Hence just the wish for something after his public confession. I would have found that very satisfying.

On the whole, I like his character, and the romance moments so far have been sweet, but overall it seems a little threadbare. However, it could be that I'm preventing myself from reaching the next steps because of trying to complete tons of quests before moving the main story forwards.

So what exactly do you know about wardens- do you really know anything? And you will also say something about figuring out that badge wasnt really his and then you get to discuss the night he was chosen to be recruited which includes him discussing his admiration for grey wardens as well as respect which kind of helps you deal with him pretending to be a warden.

decide to get angry at Blackwall in jail? I told him I never loved him just to get back at him for lying and when I judged him, he got all angsty and refused to believe I didn't love him.

I honestly liked that scene. A lot of people felt it was disrespectful, but I just thought it was sort of like he was relieved that that the Inquisitor still loved him and just wanted her to know. Sometimes people just put aside their professionalism and only see love.

Okay Blackwallers.....How to trigger his Revelations Quest now that he's gone?

 

It doesn't appear I can go to Val Royeaux on the War Table, his card is x'd out, and there are no missions on the war table to go get him back.

 

I had just finished the Wicked Hearts Blah Blah.....came back to Skyhold.....romance scene, then he's gone......I've gone and done a couple of other personal quests since. (Already been to Val Royeaux for Josie) and.....nothing.

 

I've gotta have done something wrong. Help!

 

Nevermind......even though I had seen the note....had to go back to stable again to meet the messenger.

Never thought it was disrepectful, but I was a teensy bit embarrassed at the time over having everyone in the universe (or the great hall at least) watching Blackwall and my Quizzy smooching. Vivienne was probably in her usual spot on the second floor, and Varric must have still been near the hearth. I just hope that everyone else was too busy to watch that part of the judgment - hehe.

I like to think that if anyone grumbled about the Inquisitor snogging the prisoner, she would point out that she was the !@#$ing Inquisitor, and if they didn't want her keeping her boyfriend from getting hanged or giving a corpse community service, they could damn well have put somebody else in charge. She never wanted the job in the first place.

 

Anyway, I just finished the game for the first time today, and I'm so glad I went with Blackwall for my first romance. He and my Inquisitor balanced each other really well, on and off the field. I figured out what was really going on with him very early on - not the details, but the general outline - and my reaction was 'THIS IS GOING TO BE EVEN MORE GLORIOUSLY ANGSTY THAN I THOUGHT!' I was not disappointed.

Yes!  Chains should have been removed.

Actually, I quite liked this dynamic of embarrassment.  Before the big revelation, there was some party banter where Blackwall shut someone down pretty hard for asking about him and the Inquisitor.  (I think it was Dorian, wanting to record the facts for posterity.)  I liked to imagine my Inquisitor joining the conversation and telling Blackwall that she didn't mind if everyone knew that she loved him, that in fact she'd be proud.  I then saw the echo of this in the judgement scene.  Obviously it wasn't written as echoing something I only imagined, but it fit perfectly as him finally deciding to also take the attitude of refusing to be ashamed of their relationship.  Let everyone know, even if it's a violation of proper etiquette.

Yes, that banter with Dorian was exactly the one I meant.

 

I haven't come across Dorian's post-Revelations criticism yet, but I heard the critical Solas banter - and, later on, Solas did go on to apologise as well, which I honestly did not expect.  Similarly, the apology was rooted in an appreciation of the importance of atonement.

She was affected deeply by seeing the torture and murder of her companions. It was undone, but she remembers. These were the first people who treated her like she mattered. So the Elder One's agents are going to die or suffer whatever punishment she can manage. Exile for the Wardens, execution at the appropriate judgments, etc. It's not everybody, just people working for Corypheus/Venetori/Red Templars, but it does go against Blackwall's belief in redemption.
