Well I just realized to my sorrow the only way to get the kiss where femqunari bends down is to take him back after lying. =/

The kiss before that has her freaking shrink.

The things I do for my lady bend down kiss.

But yeah I ended up reloading after that and just conscripting him and forcing him to remain Blackwall. That felt like what my Quizzy would do afterwards. Her heart got broken so she went into make the most of resources mode.

(Alas I can't have her romance anyone else so I'll just make another elf mage :P)

Wow that's amazing! But how did you manage to let him ride? Mod?

You just switch to the companion you want to see riding your nuggalope, etc. and then mount while controlling that character - no mods necessary!

After they fix the bugfest, maybe we should petition for some LI/fluffy-DLC?

I am playing my second round, I wasnt aware of hiw much I'd missed the first one.
Did love that little snippet, kneedeep in darkspawn corpses in the dark end then "You allright, love?"
That was nice :)

I think they picked up a lot from how the GarrusMance in ME3 was received. Without mentioning anything else ME3.

the wardens arent really nice people... keep your expwctations low... and grim.

Hence why I said I'd like to see one that fits the ideal as a companion again. A genuinely good person who has given up everything to serve others.

Basically the Blackwall they pitched to us pre-release.

Now that I think about it, what are the chances (realistically) of an uber-idealistic, Knight in Shining Armor Grey Warden veteran, anyway? If you're in something like the Grey Wardens for that long, eventually you've watched all of the buddies you've joined with, fought with, etc. either get killed or marched off to the Deep Roads, and you're probably on the verge of deteriorating yourself. No wonder they're all 'death death death death death.'

I think the Wardens are kind of a profession that would mold you into the Duncan-eqsue pragmatic side of things before too long anyway, no matter who you are.

Sadly I have to agree with this.

The idealistic ones tend to be the ones who weren't there very long and their rose tinted glasses haven't broke yet.

I'm really hoping we get a Citadel style DLC. That was perfect all around in my opinion, and having a date night with the LI would be great.

Okay, now that I brought that up, what do you guys envision a date night with Blackwall to be like? Dancing? Drinks? Quality time smashing darkspawn together in some old thaig?

I guess it depends on a few factors, like how many years is a Warden a Warden before being considered a veteran and what have they experienced in that time.

I don't expect it to be the norm for them, but when have our followers ever been the norm?

I only had that high an expectation for Rainier because as I said pre-release he was pitched as such a character. It made me want such a character, especially now after seeing the treatment the Wardens got in DAI, where the only potential genuinely good one is fed to Blinky if the player doesn't want to lose Hawke, and what Rainier actually is.

People are kidding themselves as to the nature of the Grey Wardens. They're canon fodder to throw at the Darkspawn. Most of the recruits are taken directly from jails.

Criminals, thieves, murderers, traitors, bastards and second sons who've disgraced themselves, maybe even the odd fallen chantry member, misguided foolish idealists as well as the odd honest pup who walked into a Darkspawn by mistake and the only way to save them is get them to do the joining.

I'd like a veteran Grey Warden, and if he was an ahole in a previous life, even better, because it would be true to the nature of the order.

Hmm...I tend to find the real KISA kinda boring. I just love the knightly looks, but wish that deep down, they have that dark side that makes them more human. Struggles are tasty.
Probably because I've never seen a true KISA character that I'd like to romance. Take that paladin from NW2 as an example. A good chance to make a heroic boyfriend for the ladies but the writer screwed up.

I was just about to say "Basically the DA version of the Night's Watch" :D

Though there are some people who voluntarily join the Warden's, so it's not all people with a troubled past

They're definitely the Night's Watch of Thedas. 'I am the shield that guards the realms of men' and all that stuff.

Hm, what about a idealistic-despite-all knight is a slightly battered armour? Someone like how the fandom pictured Blackwall before the game was released, or like Keldorn from BG2?

But if we got Duncan 2.0 instead, I'd be happy

That's sort of a thing with this game. The Chantry, Rebel Mages, Templar Order, the Grey Wardens, even Rainier (to keep with the thread topic) all fucked up one way or the other and it's up to you to decide if you want to punish them for ****** up or to accept that, yeah, they fucked up but allow them to work with you because you believe that they know they fucked up and want to change themselves to be better.

His actions don't bother me probably because I never liked the end justifies means kind of logic, so killing is just killing to me. Be it Leliana's assassinations for the greater good or slaughtering innocent people for gold, a crime is a crime. So since I tolerate Leliana I tolerate him. Plus, I think Blackwall really is a good warrior and can be trusted now. People change.

I also don't hate Alexis much because one cannot be blamed for crimes he has yet conducted, but the majority of people really dislike him for what he may do. So I guess I just have strange moral standards.

Yep. Just another example of optimism being bad where a "Always expect the worst. That way you are never disappointed." philosophy is better.

Except that doesn't apply to everything. Factions yes, but as far as followers go Rainier stands alone in that. The follower who gets the closest to screwing up is Varric being a part in releasing Corypheus, but that was completely unintentional since they didn't even know about Corypheus until they were there and as far as he and Hawke knew Corypheus was dead. They ever checked to make sure according to them to the point where whenever someone says that they mistook Corypheus' death the response is a resolute "He was dead."
