I've sort of come on this thread rather late, being as how I have been more concerned with the Sera threads, LOL!
I have two odd thoughts regarding some of the debates here, and I think I'll throw them out there.
Multicoloured unicorn poop doesn't seem so bad sitting along side that now does it?
I am incapable of arguing against your logic - you are 100% right about unicorn poop suddenly not seeming so bad now!
Nah, the whole point of the Wardens is the taint, IMO. You can also see that in how Fiona had to leave the order when she got untainted.
I'm not comfortable with calling any of the companions rapists tbh.But I won't debate about Cole here.
also my phone autocorrected rapist to Taoist, which made me laugh. I wouldn't call any of them that either, haha.
I like Blackwalls idea of wardens better.
'All a warden is, is a promise. To protect others, even at the cost of your own life.'
Wardens are just power hungry fanatics imo cause they take anyone they want and are good at that.
Well some take them by force which i think is just a bad.
In DA:O they made me force to join them lol.... double post rofl ....

Ok man, cool. You don't like the Wardens. We get it.
No No its just that Wardens have way to much power in them like the treaties and stuff.

That's a fair point. Given the choice I'd probably make it so the Wardens could only conscript if they had proof of an upcoming Blight. Or a Blight was currently happening.
No I agree. They are results oriented. They don't care about people's feelings, and they are perfectly willing to sacrifice innocents or tear apart families or forgive murderers or drive a species to extinction or abandon a city full of people or taint half the human race and kill the other half...whatever they need to do to combat the BlightDarkspawn.
It's very interesting that our two major Warden centered companions (Alistair and Blackwall) are so idealistic about the order, when they are really not deserving of it. Admirable, yes. But also frightening.
Is it bad that the first thing I thought when I learned what the
Blackwall said we should use the treaties but you get blamed for using those treaties unwisely after blackwalls was not a Grey Warden. And there is a anger towards the inquisition.
Yeah, just yeah.'All a warden is, is a promise. To protect others, even at the cost of your own life.'
Is it bad that the first thing I thought when I learned what the
Spoilerhad done was "Hm... That's nasty, but he'd make a great Warden!"? I was so happy when I got the option to send him to them.
I sent him to the Wardens as well - you're not alone in that. I thought it was apropos, considering what he'd done - also better to make use of him than to kill him in my opinion (I got to be pragmatic and merciful in one fell swoop).
Dissing major starting point for the Dragon Age franchise, LOL.
Yeah, just yeah.
I've a means to pick up some charcoal and doing some drawing, I'm a bit rusty at the figure drawing though.
Oooh, can't go wrong with a new Blackwall picture. Preferably shirtless. ![]()
Also, has gamermd gotten far enough to find out about Blackwall ?

Great minds think alike!
I may have a Grey Warden bias, if I have the option to send someone to them I just can't resist it xD
I have to say, Blackwall was never on my list of must do romances.. But I'm really enjoying his romance. It's very well written. It's a nice medium level of drama and heartbreak on the scale from Cullen to Solas.
I romanced Solas first, then Cullen.. Now Blackwall.
My only tiny complaint is that it moves really fast. Like it almost seems as if there's a dialogue missing between Haven and Skyhold.
Though, man. Those kisses. The first kisses in the Inquisitor's quarters. Woo. Somebody has pent up frustration. ![]()
And I really love the dynamic of Blackwall with a snarky Inquisitor. On most of the other romances, snarky Inquisitor seems almost.. Out of place? The more diplomatic Quizzy seems to get the best romance responses in terms of the other romanceable people. But Blackwall's responses to a snarky Quizzy are great.
It kind of feels like nobody has any clue that they're involved though. Dorian and Vivienne have commented on it, and that's all. Which is odd, because of how early Blackwall's romance locks in. And how um. Public, they are. From what I've heard of certain scenes.(I haven't gotten that far into it yet. Only just past the kisses in the Quizzy's room.)
Also, I was wondering something. When you first meet Blackwall and he's fighting the bandits. Is it not kind of implied that one of them is one of his former men ? You have the note you pick up off the guys body. Blackwall with his. 'Thieves are made, not born' comment. Also it seems like the Bandits are specifically targeting him when they fight. It's just odd to me.
That is an interesting point - tried looking for a note in my codex and failed miserably (if it's somewhere in there...oops). I do kind of remember the comment that you mentioned, but 120 hours later my brain is effectively mush as far as the first meeting goes. I'm definitely going to have to pay attention to that on my next playthrough. Only thing I found while I was looking through the codex was a letter about a Rainier sighting - no actual indication of what date the letter was sent, though.
P.S. Thanks for the pic - I owe you some proofreading and editing services for that. I would offer up a firstborn child as an alternative, but I don't have any - hah!

I'm not sure if the note goes in the codex. I'll see if I can't find it myself.
And no problem. Happy to help. ![]()

- I may be wrong, but I always thought that all recruits were pronounced as Grey Wardens right before the Joining Ceremony, so that if they died from the mixture it could be said that they died as Wardens. If Blackwall/Rainier was interrupted before the Joining cup-drinking by the attack of Darkspawn, wouldn't he still technically be considered a Grey Warden, even without assuming the mantle of the real Blackwall?
- Cole is way more deserving of the appellation of "rapist" than Blackwall, if you really think about it. Cole routinely invades the thoughts and minds of others, even as they scream at him to stop, and then erases their memories of that violation; while Blackwall (as has been pointed out) does everything he can to discourage you from having a romance with him, short of dialogue-ending it himself.
Blackwall said we should use the treaties but you get blamed for using those treaties unwisely after blackwalls was not a Grey Warden. And there is a anger towards the inquisition.
Yes, there's fallout from what happens, but you can handle it reasonably diplomatically, and it ends up being sorted out.
