You know. Part of me hopes it is Carver.
I mean, he does look a bit like Hawke with the beard, and this game does take place a few years after the fighting in Kirkwall. Maybe he grew up some more...
Of course, that would be difficult to impossible, since Carver can die in 60% of the game anyway, or become a Templar. Then again he could be changed into a placeholder similar to Padok Wiks in Mass Effect 3...

I'm with you there. As much as I would KILL for it to end up being Nathaniel Howe after he went to warrior school (imagine that montage.. I am), I do hope it's a brand new, spanking (hurhur) character. I love seeing old characters return to games, but I love seeing new ones just as much.

What do you think it means for Beardy? If my Femquisitor cannot romance him, she will burn down Orlais, make a deal with the Archdemon, necromance Meredith and do this "Not enchantment" thing to all Thedas.

Bioware, if I can't romance GW guy, will you please at least let me romance his beard? I'd settle for just his majestic beard, really and truly. I can just imagine my inquisitor attempting to snuggle it while Beardy gives her funny looks and silently wonders if the girl is maybe not right in the head.

Personally I don't think he will be romanceable, but if he is, at a guess I would say he is straight, maybe bi.
