Because **** that guy. Seriously. Screw him. I wanted to throw him into a volcano. Everyone was better than him. Even the clingy Yandere Urabe ended up being was better than him! And yes I was so mad picking all the reasonable options someone should take instead of dumb otome protagonist option ended up with me dead. And then this chick is all "I'll wait for you" I almost threw my PSP out the window.

 

Shidou is my OTP. Him and Meoshi were just adorable. Hell I loved everyone to pieces that weren't secret jerkwad.

 

But yeah some romances in otome games are like...odd. I remember I said the wrong thing by accident (i moved my mouse wrong) and I got the "ooh so that's how it is?" psycho yandere ending where apparently I got chained into a basement for years with my PC being his love slave until eventually she manages to get a weapon and stab him and turns out his crazy ass knew had the weapon but he let her kill him because ~remorse~ and she cries as he dies. My mind was full of wut.

 

I don't even know how you managed to figure that out - hahahaha! Yes, it was Sweet Fuse. I thought the villain's description did seem a bit like Monokuma's at the time, but he turned out to be an utter disappointment - lol.

Yeah, I agree with you about you-know-who. I live in Hawaii, and we do have volcanoes here, so I might have tossed that guy into one myself if the option had been available. I would have preferred - and these are my top three guys in order of preference: Shidou (hot cop), Shirabe (hot journalist), and Mitarashi (hot...I don't remember what the heck he did, but I liked his hair - was he a gamer?).

 

Yeah, one of my guy friends said he preordered some yandere game, but I don't remember the exact title (I think part of the title said "Yandere Hell"). I read the synopsis he linked, and I was like, dude, these are crazy chicks who are going to keep your character prisoner and/or murder him - lol. So yeah...there are some games that are a little (or a lot) on the weird side.

I've never read a visual novel, that sounds kinda weird now I think about it, reading something 'visual' that is, not that I haven't done it.  I mean technically all novels are visual, except with words not pictures.

 

As  soon as you get to Skyhold, yeah the battlements - then the request to go to the Storm Coast.  Then romance sexy times.  Then kissing and later after main quests, romping in the hay.  Then yeah, well you all know.  I'd find a vid but I can't see one.  Might have to record some scenes put them on You tube.

Loved Magical Diary, too! I also loved Long Live the Queen. I thought I wasn't going to like it, but I was sooo wrong. I never thought I'd love to die so much.

 

Sometimes I like the little dating sim/visual novel games for my kindle fire.  They're kind of silly, but they are good for light-hearted entertainment. I haven't played too many, since for games I'm usually either with an RPG like Dragon Age/Mass Effect, or I'm obsessed with an MMO like GW2 or SWTOR.

 

I kept dying so often in LLTQ man XD Then I got the worst ending

 

I got them on my ipad. Scarlet Fate man got me. I love all the routes (Some more than others yes but none of the guys actually upset me). I like playing them on the bus and stuff. (Yay privacy screens).

I remember the LIs I strongly dislike very well. XD Plus I replayed it like last week.

He'd deserved it. I kind of wanted a "ha. I was playing you all along." but nope. True wub. Gag me with a spoon. Meoshiwas the gamer I think I loved his route because ZOMBIES it was awesome. Shidou Also him having back up glasses made me lose it.

 

Mitarashi was the escort I think.

I don't know what game you're talking about, but I did love Danganronpa a loooot, haha.

A similar "the one who seems like a traditional romance but ends up dark and ack" is the visual novel/puzzler Magical Diary: Horse Hall. Love that game!

 

DR - so good. I also picked up the sequel on my Vita. My bestie and I are nuts about all things DR (which is why I now have those 1/8 figures of Hajime and Nagito from DR2). Anyway, maybe now that I have confessed to playing at least one otomate game...I might look into that.

It's possible to get his approval too high at Haven, and then you trigger a convo meant for Skyhold, and his personal quest never triggers. Just get him, talk to him once(assuming you're siding mages, otherwise you're fine), and race to Skyhold and you should be fine!

Kind of depends. Basically, if you really want to get your Sherlock on, you'd go with something like Danganronpa, which has a pretty complicated story and actual stuff to do (talking to people, collecting clues to solve murders, going through the trial phase, and some other stuff). The romance-oriented games like Sweet Fuse have fewer game mechanics (mostly dialogue choices) and are more like an interactive visual novel, imo.

Man, I loved Sweet Fuse. It was a great time waster! I also loved the hot cop, but Meoshi was my second choice. Many of those types of games are a bit problematic if you take them too seriously. In Hakouoki, my favs were Saito (ice cold killer) and Kazama (demon rapist)- I'm not even kidding. I'm facepalming at myself over here. Blackwall is probably a step up from some of the romances I like. 

 

Luckily, I don't really play self-insert characters, so I am able to keep any real world issues/concerns out of my game. Any shady behavior is just kinda whatever- just another part of the story.

Well that depends on the type of character I'm playing really. Some would roll with it. Some are more bothered they personally got tricked than any innocents and then I have my white knight types that are all "HOW COULD YOU?!?"

 

But anyway if we're going to be on topic. Blackwall probably would've won me over if he was less...dour. It doesn't help that he's very serious for the most part in your conversations at neutral approval. It's a buzz kill. He's not even fun to poke at like Fenris is. I even have the banter bug so I'm not getting most of his funny conversations with the other companions. So with mostly his dialogue at Skyhold I'm left going ehhhhh.

 

The rest of the companions at least I find engaging enough with just Skyhold conversations. (Even if Sera makes me wanna throw her out a window)

There are a lot of good banter conversations between Blackwall and other characters that show his personality a little more. Makes it harder to get to know him when you have the banter bug. I had it at the beginning, but it seems to have gone away. I'm not sure why. He has some of my favorite banter conversations.

 

On a more general topic -- I love how they let us ask everyone what they think of the other members of our group, and how their answers change over time. Last night I did Viv's quest, and before she had a snarky answer about Blackwall. After the quest, when I asked her what she thought, her tone was much lighter. She said something to the effect of

Not all women would've given him a second chance, that he was lucky, and she hoped he upheld my trust in him -- the tone of voice was softer rather than cutting, like it had been previously.

 

Sometimes I just go from person to person, asking what they all think of one another. Last night Blackwall told me he misjudged Cole, and that the boy just needs some looking after. He was really sweet about him. (Which I liked, because I'm fond of Cole).
