I just saw a bit of Blackwall's banter with Sera where he talks about how he hates aristocracy and now i'm tempted to romance him with a super-spoiled porcelain-doll-ish Trevelyan lady for lulz and irony. Does he actually ever comment on the Inquisitor's origin though? Apart from "I thought you'd be human" with non-numans?

I recall that he calls her Lady Trevelyan at the ball, but can't think of any other mention.

I had trouble with this myself until I worked out a back story I liked. My Trevelyan is a little older, she has the "mature" voice for instance, and I rp that she's the eldest and passed her title to a younger brother while she served as his head scout. A huntsy, woodsy kind of woman, and not comfortable in noble trappings, which I think suits Blackwall well. A side benefit that emerged as I played her is the fact that she would have been dodging title and leadership her whole life in Ostwick, only to be put in charge of the whole damn world. lol

As for the thing with Josie, that's classic knight and unattainable noble lady stuff right there. It's sweet and shows an unexpected side to him. From his rough and tumble exterior, you'd expect a man like that to be grabbing serving girls' bums in a tavern.

Well, Cole does say "You know a lot about girls." in a party banter with Rainier. I wouldn't be surprised if he has done the underlined.

Which VA did you pick Addai?

I went with Alix's mainly because I prefer the British, I was worried she wouldn't sound as mature as Sumalee's though (because Sumalee's voice seems quite a deal deeper)

Yeah he can be very respectful and keep his distance but I like the bawdy side too.  This all considering that I grew up watching British sitcoms with innuendo aplenty that I never really understood until I was an adult!!

I just did Revelations.

I think Sumalee's voice is great for a kind of accusatory tone. (My Trevelyan decided to send him to the GWs after Corphy fight)

Alix's was better if you were going for a little softer tone.

Just noted that Leliana may have had the report about Rainier, but would not have connected Rainier to Blackwall.....as Cullen says, she has a blind spot for grey wardens  :P

Sumalee. My elf has Alix and as I said, Trevelyan is older so it fit better.

This is her. She famously got hit with the elderly bug after the patch, which I posted about in the feedback forum, but she's not supposed to be that mature.  :D

DragonAgeInquisition2014-12-1022-07-16-5

Since she's a rogue, Blackwall gets regular opportunities to literally save the day. Here I had him use Grappling Chain to pull down a Greater Terror that's mauling her up on that ledge. This is in Forannan Ravine, where it's hard to get up to where you can disrupt the rift.

DragonAgeInquisition2014-12-1321-35-01-2

A minute later, he's fighting 2 Greater Terrors and a Desire Demon while she's free and clear to disrupt the rift. A nice metaphor for him.

He did remark on Cadash's Carta ties at some point. I got to reply with something like "don't hold it against me". Although those weren't obviously the exact words because clearly THOSE words would not be appropriate under the circumstances. Because I'm like 14 in my head and this has just started down a "would you hold it against me?" rabbit hole that is just... I need to stop smirking so badly.  :o

*listens to her husband talk about possibly changing to romancing Blackwall instead of Sera with his fem!Qunari*

Going on about how he's *such a good and honorable man and would be perfect for my Qunari*

I'm squirming in my seat.....trying like heck not to say anything to him.

I'm not QUITE having the same thing (since my husband is playing a male char), but I have been occasionally creeping by and seeing what my husband is up to then snarking randomly stuff like, "Dude Blackwall is the worst Warden EVER he never knows when there's Darkspawn around." My husband the other night finally said "... I think he's fake." (to be fair, I am actually not that far in the game that my Inquisitor knows, mostly because I have been avoiding Here Lies The Abyss, avoiding it so bad that I went back to the Hinterlands, which is kind of ok really since I got banter to start triggering and my party is now constantly talking and I am stupidly happy.).

Hubby just popped up with a random "So something went down with the Seekers... are you to that part yet?" This is constant. Gaming couples are the BEST couples.

Awesome post Keala!

Aw thanks! :: hugs ::

Ahh...how'd you start getting banter to trigger?

Banter was triggering for me prior to the patch, now after the patch and the hotfix?

I've had about 2 today (other than the environmental or quest specific one liners....) and I've been playing for 7 hours!

Game is so friggin' boring, and hard to connect to the companions when they never say anything to each other.....and I'm 60 hours into this game and have YET to have one of those banters that I can join in trigger.

I've had a couple of the interactive banters, but I'm sitting in shock too long to respond.  Taciturn Inquisitor by default....  One was travelling with Cass, Varric, and Solas before arriving at Haven, and another was first arriving at Redcliffe Village.  There was another one or two, but I don't remember where.

What worked for me this:
- When you leave Skyhold, only travel through the War Table; choose a destination from there. This will cause drums to annoyingly play whenever you return to Skyhold, but going into the room and coming out again will fix that. It's weird. But it seems to help.
- Reload from autosaves. When you're in camp, go in a tent, an auto save is created. Load your game from that autosave occasionally.

I'm having fairly consistent banter doing those. I feel like I'm doing some arcane ritual, but I am getting banter constantly.

Thanks for that I'll give it a try later tonight when I can play - I'm having really inconsistent banter - sometimes its great and getting lots, then the other day with Cass, Solas and Varric, NADA.  It's very annoying because I know I'm missing out on some great conversations.

In banterless situations, I just like to pretend that someone pissed someone else off and now they're getting the silent treatment, while the third wheel just stands around awkwardly.

Thanks!

I just did the completed quest journal clean out and did a 'repair' on the game. I will see if that helped tomorrow. ...otherwise I may have to try some of the auto save magic.

I've had one interactive banter so far. I almost didn't respond to it, because I was so surprised. It was after the Revelation quest, between Cassandra and Blackwall, with Cassandra giving him a hard time.

Sometimes I'll go hours without any banter, and then something will happen and about five banters will occur one right after the other. It really does feel like they get backed up. I'll have to notice if I'm loading from an autosave when they all occur within a short span of time.

Also, I love pairing a rogue with Blackwall. That was mine also. Fit the back story I created so well, and I loved the playstyle with the two of them. He'd taunt and get everyone's attention, which gave me wonderful opportunities for flanking, as I raced about stabbing in the back (dual dagger rogue).

I totally laughed when Cole gave the line, "you know a lot about girls", because it made me go, 'oh yeah he does!' <3

So, I went ahead and made a playlist out of all of the songs we've posted so far (well, as many as I could find), as well as a few extras. I thought I'd maintain this for you guys, because you're all awesome people. If I'm missing any or you'd like to add to it, shoot me a message or post the vid here. Enjoy. :)

for now hair is still a dream. We can import hair for static stuff though, like a statue. Moving things need a bit more time

I can't wait for a new hairs mods

I only ever got two interactive banters - one involving Vivienne and Cole, and the one between Varric and Blackwall where the Inquisitor can tell them to SHUT UP ABOUT THE JOUSTING. I think that was the only time after I got to Skyhold that I ever saw 'Blackwall disapproves' pop up  .

(My Inquisitor will happily take them to Markham to celebrate victory, though, as long as they don't make her actually watch any jousting. There must be someone else in the inner circle who doesn't care for it and will help her find something to do while the others are inexplicably entertained by humans knocking each other off horses with big sticks.)

Alix's was better if you were going for a little softer tone.

I don't know, I think she sounded deliciously bitter during the Revelations. "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" at its finest. I absolutely love Alix' voice in this game, both timbre and acting. From what I've heard of Sumalee, she sounds great too, but so far, Alix just suited my PCs better. Even my Qunari gal  :P I especially like the way whe delivers the snarky lines.

Ha ha, I gave him a shield made with Fade Touched Obsidian and he's unkillable. I like to think it was a love gift, but it's also just rote survival.

About the "I never loved you" line with Alix as VA, why is it bad? I couldn't ever pick that one anyway. Dude is so broken and... nope. Not thinking about it.
