Okay. Here is the only girl I haven't deleted yet. She's gotten as far as talking to Mother Giselle. You guys let me know what you think, lol.
I think Gordian is in the Exalted Plains. And a mage?

So doing my Blackwall run pretty far into the romance and I've got a semi silly complaint, my dwarfs height jumps up to a humans in most of the scenes with him does that happen for the other races as well? Do the elves get taller and the qunari shorter? I just find it odd since in most of the scenes with Iron Bull's romance with a dwarf they kept the dwarf well dwarf size so its slightly jarring when she's suddenly human sized. Complaint aside I am very much enjoying his romance so far. Once I do a run with everyone else its looking like he's going to be one of my main romance repeats.
I have a silly confession.
My favorite Blackwall thing...
His goodbye line after you talk with him was getting on my nerves "You are after all in charge...."
So at one point I decided , I cannot take it anymore and just didn't let him finish , as I was running away in a pretty rude manner , I heard Blackwall moaning something like "and there he goes , not even listening to me anymore..."
It amused me so much now one of my simple pleasure is to never let him finish his "You are after all in charge...blabla"
And then listening to his sad forever alone Blackwall banter.(he even says different lines !
)

It doesn't do that in his later scenes with a dwarf, I've found, but it's pretty glaring in that one scene where he comes to your room. I just headcanon now that he's like propped her up on something...or....I have no idea. It is an awkward one. But later on there are some really cute height difference scenes, imo.

I am so going to have to try this tonight.

That first one and the one in the stables were really glaring to me and I couldn't even pretend he was carrying her in the stable one since they kept cutting back to shots of their feet, but I do still really like the romance so far and hearing the scenes get better does make it better since I'm getting close to the final stretch of the game again.
For some reason, I think that this is not Blackwall because
Spoiler
Ah, interesting...and you are right! I managed to find the name in a walkthrough/guide, and it says that the actual Gordian is a boss/elite type in the Exalted Plains - an ice mage specifically.
My assumption all along was that Rainier was simply using the name as yet another alias for whatever reason. Based on the journal, the "Gordian" that Maliphant met just struck me as being the soldier/warrior type. With the real Gordian being a mage, it seems unlikely that he could pull off impersonating a soldier for any length of time.
I mean, I just don't see a mage surviving fights while pretending to be a warrior if he doesn't actually know how to use a sword and shield properly. Short of apostate outliers like Malcolm Hawke who actually could fight with a sword for real (or our DA:O Wardens who could at least equip one, hah), it doesn't seem all that common for mages to be skilled in both magic and physical combat.
But who knows, this is probably a bit like the ME3 IT thing - you can read anything into a lot of small things, lol.
It happens to the qunari too. It's rather glaring in some scenes, then in others they get it right. I don't think it's as bad for elven inquisitors because differences between human and elves aren't as great. So doing my Blackwall run pretty far into the romance and I've got a semi silly complaint, my dwarfs height jumps up to a humans in most of the scenes with him does that happen for the other races as well? Well, you can just pretend that your character is in a 50s-style B movie a la The Incredible Shrinking Woman with regards to the magical growth spurts/shrinking. At least, that's how I'd play it out if I had dwarf or a qunari Inquisitor. Sometimes having a love of cheesy sci-fi movies comes in handy in situations like these. But mostly, I'd probably ignore it and focus on kissing Blackwall - hee!
@Bugsie: Oof, that does sound rather bad. And yes, I've gotten my share of those odd-looking conversations by not standing just so when initiating dialogue with an NPC.
So, I did my Cadash playthrough for Blackwell, and now I've got a bunch of other games started for other characters I want to romance (Adaar mage for Cass, Trevalyan male for Bull, Trevalyan mage for Dorian, Trevalyan mage for Cullen...) and I keep going back to the second Blackwell romance because I like flirting with Blackwell that much.

Three times when I've gone to talk with Cass I ended up talking to the tree ![]()
I know that people have already mentioned various parallels to Les Misérables, but one struck me just today:
Spoiler
I must have missed this earlier comment, but yeah that's a wonderful analogy with Les Mis.
Here I am, too! (Sorry for my bad english, it isn't my own language ç_ç)
From the very beginning I chosen him
he's so... awww... I know that you know what I mean
... maybe it's the beard, ahah ![]()
I loved his romance! Loved his personal story... Yes, maybe previously his 'revelations' pissed me off, but at least my Lavellan understood his reasons and she loved him for what he has become, for the magnificent man he's at the present.
Now that the game is finish I like to imagine that they will have that house and dog they talked about, and maybe they'll cook eggs together. And I hope they will have many children ![]()
I'm so very glad about their happy ending!
I want to restart a new playthrough, maybe romancing Cullen or Solas, but... oh, my... for now, I just cannot think about romancing other than him! Maybe I'll wait a few times, perhaps I just have to "leave my lyrium away" ![]()
PS. I have read some of what you've write, I have to thank you, 'cause thank to you I discovered some good songs
and speaking about songs... there is one wich reminds me of Blackwall-Thom: One Republic - Something I need.
@Estelindis - Badoom tish!

@ Alurin, plenty of people were pissed off to a degree about his revelation. I've had friends say it's a deal breaker for them and been surprised at me for liking it as much as I do. For me, it's pixel dramaz that I would only want to live out in a fictional world, and hot damn, dat angst.
Oh LOL, and going after other LI in this game doesn't have an air of weirdness? I mean they're all just pixels amirite?
Personally I don't enjoy conventional romances in games (although nothing wrong with those that do like them) I've just found I tend to gravitate to those that feel distinctly different from real life. Probably Alistair is my only conventional romance in this series, and even then, after playing DA:I I'd have preffered mature Alistair, hardened, sad, somewhat tortured.
Cullens romance feels like it might be just a tad too perfect, maybe right for a certain mood IDK. In addition to that - only humans and elves thing - that in itself I find offputting, I totally understand why they did it though, just not my thing. I've never liked playing female elves in particular because I feel they conform to a stereotype I think is exceedingly bland in fiction 'the etheral beauty' thing just isn't for me. Solas will tempt me to try it, Cullen, not so much.
Being side eyed for choice of romance in Bioware games is something I'm used to even amongst other people in the fandom (which I think is odd but hey). Sexy voiced raptor dudes FTW ![]()
I was talking to a friend about Blackwall, and had just gotten up to the point where I said you had choices in what to do with him once you found out.
Me: "You could leave him to die, or break him out and then either send him away to the--"
Her, cutting in: "Break up and send him away!"
Me: ???!!!!??? "Wait, no! I didn't finish telling the options and no, you can't break up with him!!!! Arrgghhh! I don't even know you anymore!"
She then had to hear the whole story over again. But I don't feel bad, usually I'm listening to things about her anime shows ![]()
I'm actually pretty easy to please with friendships and romances (in game), because I end up liking everyone. Each person is different, and I enjoy getting to know them and flirting and experiencing whatever type of romance or friendship they bring to the table. I definitely have favorites I enjoy more, or characters I fall for harder. I don't think it's the amount of angst or fluff that makes them a favorite. It's just a character thing. Sometimes it's also dependent on which character wins me first.
Like, I loved Garrus, but I'd loved Kaidan for so long (and Thane, sad tears) that Garrus couldn't quite make it to the top of my list. I especially loved the older Kaidan, when he was more on equal ground... not sure how many times I replayed the date at the restaurant, lol. This also goes for Anders. I fell for Anders before you could romance him, in Awakenings. Not even a change of voice actor and the inclusion of Justice was going to give me a change of heart. I really enjoyed the Fenris & Isabella stories, but Anders always had my true heart.
And Alistair. Sigh. While I thoroughly loved Zevran and his arc (was wonderful with the earring at the end), Alistair had me from the first meeting. By Lothering, I was crushing pretty hard. By the time I got the rose... that was it. First video game character I ever fell for, really. I would love a game that had an older Alistair (say the Alistair that is now King or Grey Warden) -- someone that still had that light-hearted, wise-cracking personality, but now tempered with age and life experience, both the good and the bad. It would give his character such depth.
It's that depth and experience, that heaviness Blackwall carries on his shoulders, that make him appealing to me (in game). He's such a wonderful character. You have his pride and arrogant youth, that led him down a bad path. So now he knows the folly of pride. He's had position and rank, so he knows that money and power and the things those buy can't bring peace to the soul. He's done so much, and lived so much, and now is ready to believe in something good. To spend the rest of his life trying to live by a code. Plus, he just loves the inquisitor so much, it both breaks my heart and melts it.
I haven't been this melty about a romance since dat headbump.
Trying to explain this to friends on another forum - The romance is appealing to me because it feels unconventional. An older LI, someone who's personal background isn't sunshine and roses, someone who's decisions are questionable and not for the 'greater good'. His story also gives me, as PC, great agency in dealing with him - I can leave him to die, put him in servitude, impose a delayed death sentence (the wardens) or simply allow him to atone as long as he helps the inquisition. Also - finally, a redemption story where there isnt that tired old trope of redemption=death, I'm thoroughly bored of seeing that as the only way someone can redeem past misdeeds and mistakes.
I also like that others in the inquisition may think my choice is poor (Cass, Cullen) but would never dare say to my face, or that other people gossip - it gives those characters agency and uniqueness in their responses to me. And hey I get to say 'I'm the Herald of MF Andraste! Respec ma authorati!'
