I'll roll a snarky dude elf for Dorian. Seems fitting. I wasn't sold on dude elves either until I rolled one that I took through Awakenings.
And femelf/Solas - more dramaz?? Consider me sold!

I'm leaning towards creating a male Inquisitor next playthrough just so I can't give in on Blackwall temptation. ![]()
Living in the musical theatre world as much as I do (my husband has been in two productions of Les Miserables for instance), the Valjean comparisons now make me want to start making up alternate lyrics whenever I hear any of it, hah.
Lastly, leaving conversation and running away FTW. "I'll be here if you need me." "And... there she goes." So much better than "you are, after all, in charge", which was starting to bug me, too. I'm happy to have an option that makes a bit more sense to me. ![]()
City elf was one of my favorites in DA:O, that beginning story! It gave me such a great space to create a character. I love the Dalish lore, but feel like I never got into it enough to really give my characters enough story, if that makes sense. Like, to give a proper backstory, I need to study the lore more, but since I always have so much work to be doing, I never feel like learning the lore, even though I appreciate it a lot on a surface level. The city elf was perfect, because she would have my level of elf-lore knowledge!
I do want to make a Dalish elf this go-around, because I feel like you really would get the full depth of story out of it.
Besides Blackwall, the two that I really want to romance are Dorian (
) and Cullen. Cullen has to be with a mage PC and the Amell as the Warden, and Bethany going to the Circle in Kirkwall. Because, history!
I have decided that three songs work for Blackwall IMO. Two of them for romanced Blackwall, though
Blackwall, Cullen, and Dorian are the three I've done, they are all excellent. Cullen with a mage is best for ~the dramazz~ because his relationship is super mature and sweet, but then if your'e a mage you can follow up these ridiculous schmoopy scenes with BUT ALSO WOULD U KILL ME IF I WAS POSSESSED? and he's like "..maker, don't ask me $%%$ like that." (not a direct quote, don't worry
) . It kept things sufficiently awkward for me to balance out the cavities I got from the rest of the romance.
...it's a really really sweet romance, if that's your bag of cats. I like mine a bit more feral, but it was fun.
Working on a Cassmance right now (as well as finishing the Dorian one). All the romances this game are so great. ![]()
But yeah, once I'm done with them all, I suspect Blackwall and Dorian will be the ones I go back to the most.
I've been trying to make a guy for Dorian, but it's back to the drawing board. The black hair is looking too blue to me, and his eyes they need a-fixing.
Any of you think the Grey Wardens would accept Blackwall if he joins?
I do. One, they need to rebuild. Two, he's worked to atone by helping the Inquisition. Three, he helped improve their image, even if under a pretense.
The real question is would he survive. And by the Paragons I hope he does. I believe he will. And if not I headcanon it.
Yeah, absolutely they would. They're in no position to refuse anyone, and he's a hero of the Inquisition and an excellent warrior.
My main concern is less "would they take him" and "would he survive the Joining" ![]()
Also, I've said it here before, but I like the idea of him being forced to, as Quizzie says, atone as the man he is, not the one he pretended to be, which means no Warden security blanket, lol.
...I kind of wish we could have called him Rainer after the reveal, but I suppose I understand why it wasn't an option.
Any of you think the Grey Wardens would accept Blackwall if he joins?
They would - they do take everyone after all. And after Adamant, they really can't afford to be picky.
For me, Nasir Cadash told Blackwall both things in my headcanon "Atone as the man you are, not the man you pretended to be or the man you thought you were" and "Join the Wardens. Be the man Blackwall wanted you to be".

I'd be questioning their double standards if they didn't take him.
So some murderers and thieves are okay but not others?
Plus as Atreiya says, they really aren't a position to all of sudden become picky about their recruits.
@Veeia, definitely have to compare, although it might be a while before I get to that pt! Although I am in slow down for work at the moment and am having 5 glorious weeks off come Thursday. I should get some more gaming time in around all the other things I have planned methinks.

Yeah, I wanted Blackwall to accept who he was and to atone as the man that he is...but I figured that the Inquisition is as good a way as any to accomplish that, at least being comparable to saving the world from a Blight. But if he ends up joining the Wardens, I'm okay with it because he really was planning on doing it until things sideways (although I also feel, like others do, that the Warden route can be looked at as an easy out, seeing as surviving the Joining means your sins are all washed away from that point forward).
I semi-nagged a friend about hurrying up and finishing Revelations so that I didn't have to keep hiding the Blackwall thing - lol. He told me he finally did it the other day and had Blackwall join the Wardens, to which I said: "Good, because I would've bonked you if you had left him in jail to die!" Well, something to that effect - heh.
I've always thought that if you go down the atonement path he may choose to go to the wardens of his on accord.

That's what I believe as well. It just seems natural for him to do that, eventually.
I chained him up so he can't leave. :: shifty ::
Actually I am not even to that part. But that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Also, my husband has been texting me the blow-by-blow (hahahah) of gettin' it on with Cassandra. One of these days I'm going to randomly text him I SCALED THE WALL and see if figures it out. Hah.
Did anyone else wish they could have him undergo The Joining in-game? I'd like a cutscene where someone like Nathaniel Howe could appear and conduct the Joining ritual. Whether he survives or not could depend on his approval score. If he does survive, he gets a unique character-specific amulet (like the Warden's Oath in DA:O) and a stat boost. And moves from the stables to the dining hall where you find him constantly eating.
I kinda like that idea about the approval stuff and all, then make him stay for the inquisition to complete his job, or send him off to be with the other wardens. Having said that, they've painted the wardens as very secretive order, the inquisitor, being not a warden would likely not be invited to watch the joining ritual, it would have to happen off camera. So it could happen in game, just they shouldn't really let you see it if they were to remain 'true to lore'.
Also just in addition to what was said earlier that 'would the wardens even take him' If you've sided with them at Adamant then they're loyal to the inquisition they'll hardly question your judgement.
Respec ma authoratai!
I
Stonelions.
I haven't checked in a few days, was hoping that some DA:I stuff would crop up... and there it is!
YAY!
I finally got the barn and drama scenes with Blackwall after fighting with my computer to let me finish the fade in Here Lies the Abyss. My game kept crashing every time I got into combat.
So, I'm a fan of drama.. And I chose the most drama filled lines for the scenes. And it was fantastic. Hit me right in the feels. I played it as my mage Trevelyan lashed out after finding out the truth, then when she was speaking with Cullen it began to sink in.
And unf. Blackwall just wants to settle down with the Quizzy afterwards into domestic bliss. It's great. ![]()
I remember asking Cullen the same question, and he didn't really have an answer. But Blackwall knows exactly what he wants with the Quizzy.
That's one fine drawing. I've yet to try a romance with him (maybe one day with a Qunari Lady *looks @ Bugsie avi and finds it fitting*) but he has one of the coolest design and I find his backstory interesting.
The prison scene is one of my favourite in the game. But it feels like he doesn't get enough lines compared to some characters.
