@AtreiyaN7 See?! I knew this was going to be difficult. I might have to cheat a little and just go back a few loads in the game and replay the whole section where we come back from Adamant. I hate doing that because I played a couple of other minor quests, but I don't think I can wait that long to see all those lovely angsty moments again.

I have so many saves! But for the biggies I have memorized the save time, so I can go back and do a bit of replaying. And screenshotting. And sighing. And just general ahhhhhh
![]()
I really really wish they would let you name your saves, though. Would be so much easier than the time to remember.

I've made a guy for Dorian & a mage for Cullen & a dwarf for Sera, but I can't get into any of them yet. I just stare at their faces and think, hmmm, the ears bother me, or that nose should be higher, or, the complexion should be different... and then I go back to my fav red-headed dagger rogue and play with Blackwall.

I have a document on my phone that I use to write down all the saves before big cut scenes/romance scenes, hahhah. Like I put Skyhold- 17:17 Blackwall Lock-In, or whatever. I wish we could name them, but that works for me. I am so much more organized in my Dragon Age saves than I am in my life. ![]()
Eh, not gonna read that thread, haha. Generally I get bored or irritated when people talk about characters they don't like. I mean there are often good chats to be had! But especially now, so close to launch, in a thread designed for talking about stuff you don't like, everyone is id-ing it up with THAT DUDE LIED TO ME, THAT CHICK IS CRAZY, THAT ELF IS BALD AS BANANAS, etc. I'll just hang out here for better discussions, hehe.

Meh, just more of him for me to love.
I'm on the xbox 360 so I have only so many saves I can keep and no screenshots. So I have to either replay the scenes or just tap my memory. ![]()

Okay, I looked at the thread. I'm weak, I'm a liar. No wonder I love Blackwall. ![]()
Just a lot of people saying Sera and Blackwall, which is not surprising to me. Blackwall is not "flashy" and Sera is so flashy you have to look closer to see who she is. This is my hipster way of tossing my scarf and saying they didn't "get" them. (i am mostly joking here ok guys don't jump on me. mostly. so not all the way. BUT I ADMIT IM BEING A HIPSTER OK)

Blackwall & Sera are among my favourites though. They just seem to work so well together, BFFS forever.

Marlena - I'll just have to wait for a second playthrough cos the next one is reserved for dat Tevinter mage.
My head is swirling with ideas of the quizzy's I'll make - and the ones I'll make to troll the companions.
I don't care if people hate on Blackwall (or Sera) a lot of people who haven't done the romance seem to think he's bland, which, really, come on! His arc is anything but bland.
And hating on his beard, meh, they just don't understand the awesomeness of that particular feature. ![]()
I'm itching to rewrite Blackwalls judgement and reconciliation scenes. They just don't work for me as is. I don't want to kiss him in chains in front of everyone, I'll romance iron bull if I want love and smooches when tied up! I want to judge him and then give Ciara some distance to think and then call him to the quizzy's apartment, chew him out good and proper (dramaz!!) on his lies, give him a chance to make up for the personal betrayal then I'll let him kiss me.

And yes - now that I've had Blackwall and Sera together, I've gotten more than a few laughs over their banter ("Beardy" - lol). Per my friend's dragon-hunting suggestions, I started taking Sera and Cole along with me. Turns out that he was totally right, because they've been aces when it comes to dragons. The humor was an added bonus!

I'm not going to read the thread, since then I'll just want to do "Blackwall and Sera and wonderful because...", lol.
The warmth in Blackwall's voice when he talks about Sera, and just their whole relationship makes me want to hug them both. Then you throw Dorian into the mix
![]()
Sera's personality can push people away, and Blackwall's seemingly stoic personality can leave people wanting, but when you push past the surface on both you get such wonderful characters. (Of course, you can have a wonderful character, and they can still bug you, so I completely get that, too.)
There are a few issues I've noticed with the characters. One, the banter in this game has so much story and character depth, when you don't take out companions enough (or get the banter bug) you never get to know them. You really see Blackwall's sense of humor in some of the banters. Also, the characters all have a different dynamic -- you get a totally different view of Sera or Blackwall if you take Vivianne with one of them, than you do if someone like Iron Bull or Dorian goes along.
Two, since you get different dialog with your choices, what you see of each character can be different from person to person. I like to try out a lot of the dialog (either with a quick save and go back and try a new choice, or making PC's that make entirely different choices), so I always see more aspects to each character. A lot of times I'll make my true choice, then go back to see the others, then make my true choice again and carry on in the game (there's a reason it took me so long to finish my first game!). For other people, if they make the same choice every game, they might always get disapproval. Some people don't like people who don't like them.
For instance, on Sera, when we got back from the Well
I have to admit, Sera intrigued me with her craziness from the beginning. I was like, you're stealing... their pants? I think I might like you.
And with Blackwall, there was the beard and the voice and the attitude... then, that chuckle during the first flirt, when you tell him he's oddly charming!!!
"I always found myself more odd than charming. But I'll take a compliment from a lady, they're hard to come by these days."
"Compliments? Or Ladies?"
That chuckle!!!!!! "Both. So, is there something large and heavy you need moved?"
Uh-huh. Right this way. ![]()

Ah, that line! I love that line. Makes me go all melty. In my game, Sera was worried so much at the end that she wouldn't be allowed to stay. When I told her she was family, she nearly cried and I nearly cried, and was like it's me, you, Blackwall & Dorian in this great big castle, forever!

Who else do you guys like BW with? I am putting him and Sera with my Mage Quizzie for sure cuz I'm romancing Sera and its a Nightmare run, so I need dat tank, but I haven't decided on the last spot. Was thinking of Solas, since I never got to hear their pre-reveal banter, but idk. ...trying really hard not to end up with Dorian as the last one again.

Meh....
I feel the same about that as the plebs who hate DA2 or DAI cause they don't understand
1) DA2 was playing through the past....so of course you always had to end up in the same place...there were just tiny details of how you got there and what type of person you were....(point of a framed narrative)
2) Hate the non-'badass' ending of DAI.....don'r understand that DAI was a war of attrition. Could Bioware have tossed in one or two more scenes, even just cut scenes to drive that point home? Yes.....since it seems many people lack reading comprehension, or don;t bother to read those war tables notes.....(or get the whole point of Arbor Wilds mission)
Having a complex character that goes against their preconceived notions is most often too much for tiny brains. people of a certain type.
Husband and I got to talking about the ending (in as general terms as possible since he hasn't finished yet...). I was telling him about the DAI ending hate on the boards (mainly since my husband is really liking the game and thinks its better than DAO). His comment was exactly what mine initially was..."The whole game after Haven is about you whittling down the enemy. It's not about a huge fight at the end." I love my hubby, he gets it without me even telling him.
(people are so good about head cannoning stuff about their character, but they can't be bothered to use a little imagination to fill in the blanks of what was but was not shown? Geeze...if gamers now a days need spoon feeding, glad I don't really call myself a gamer)
Sorry, must be the vodka talking.
Edit: And Dangit.......why does Cullen get a smooshy hugging scene after the Well of Sorrows? The non-romanced Blackwall scene is 98% the same as the romanced Blackwall scene......*mutters about Cullen favoritism*

@Jaulen: Yeah, I kept saying in one or two other threads where this subject of the "ending" being lackluster was that the actual ending more or less consists of everything from the Arbor Wilds on - not just the fight with Corypheus. Yeah, maybe I'd have liked a little more oomph in the final battle, but the overall experience was enjoyable.
