I don't think age is necessarily a barrier. Cassandra wouldn't be considered "young" (Well, she's old enough that some people would claim such) and she's one of the announced options. You could make the argument that the Warden could be close to his Calling and therefore isn't suitable, but I don't believe age alone would prevent him from being an option. It's not like he's 70 or 80 or anything like that, and some people like the grizzled older types.

 

Good point. At the very least a 'happy ever after' is impossible. They could make him say he doesn't want to get involved with anyone, because of the Calling, but then again, who knows who will survive the battle and we might all die tomorrow... Maybe not. The Calling makes sense anyway.

I agree with Doom. A lot of the 12 Inquisition companions seems past their twenties. Cassandra and Cullen are likely around 35, Varric is 40 and IB and the Wardens are likely i their forties. Leliana is over 30.
Cole and Sera are the only character which seems fairly sure to be under their thirties. The other four (Vivienne, Solas, DHMG and SG), I'm not sure about, but they could be in their (early) thirties as well.

I didnt read all 47 or so pages. So i dont know if this was said already. And I am also going to say i doubt it is him, since he is "dead".

 

But any chance this mysterious grey warden companion is Duncan? As in Duncan survived the battle at Ostagar.

 

I only say this cause i had the urge to replay DA:O so I downloaded it and start a new toon last night. And i have to say the new companion art looks just like Duncan.

He does resemble Duncan in one concept art, and even his appearance in-game isn't too different.
But the devs always said that Duncan is dead and won't return back. Plus, Duncan was a rogue (even in The Calling, I think), while this Warden is a warrior.

I actually think Rhys would be more similar to DHMG, with a beard. The Warden's physique is too big for Rhys, I think.

Anyway re: age and romance -- I would certainly hope that age wouldn't factor in.   So what, he's a little past his prime?  Experience can go a long way!

 

He probably knows his way around the deep roads, just saying.

Even though the devs say that Duncan is dead...we didn't actually see him die. The screen just faded to white just like the Warden in the tower. Also the bearded warden has an earing just like the one Duncan had.

I think taking a axe to the face is a good bet his dead. plus alistair said duncan did not have much time left before he would go to the deep roads.

duncan has run his course...  i liked him in the calling and in origins, but unless they do a prequel game which isnt going to happen with a game already titled origins, we will not see duncan alive again.  Im thinking hes an oghren type character, you know just taller

Plus, Duncan was a rogue. The Warden in DAI is a warrior.
