ah yes Fade tongue. I must have confused it with all the fan fiction/ head canon I've seen where they do (I've only seen some of the romance scenes not done the romance myself). I'm pretty sure the fandom would have been AOK with a depiction of them sleeping together (again if fan fiction is anything to go by )

Turns out that it definitely works: I just chilled at the tavern with Blackwall, and he does end up basically saying that he wants to be the good man that you think he is before putting "his" badge on the table and leaving. Then I went through with the rest of Revelations and the judgment - the ability to continue the romance is there if you still want to go through with it at that point.

Yeah, I imagine that for a lot of people that would probably work out better for them in the long run, knowing everything that happens. I, on the other hand, don't mind the angst, pain, and disappointment of the barn loft - I guess the emotional turmoil involved works for me. Also, my giant crush on Ser Beardy basically compels me to take the romance option every time I see one - lol (I am, sadly, completely unable to resist temptation in his case).

Late to the party on this convo! (btw, anyone else having problems with the bioware forum? It keeps getting stuck loading for me, but everything else web-related is fine)

 

Everyone sees the world through their own filter of thoughts and experience, so I'm not one to say someone else's viewpoint isn't valid. At the same time, I do get frustrated by some of the arguments I hear going around. Not just on Blackwall. It's like an epidemic. I need a "Really??! By Seth and Amy" for those discussions. Really. Because, really??

 

In regards to Blackwall, I feel like we are missing a scene in the romance after the judgment. There should've been a scene to talk things over, back at the barn. I was surprised it wasn't there. I kept thinking one would show up, or that I was missing something. But, nope.

 

I don't mind the leaving the morning after (been there, done that, I'm a bad person), but I feel like waking up naked was a bit gratuitous. Like they wanted to put in some nakedness, so that's where they put it. There's no way Blackwall would've left her there uncovered. ((I head canon he'd covered her, but she's a restless sleeper, so she kicked everything off by the time she woke up.)) And really, who cares about seeing your own PC naked, you want to see your LI! You know Blackwall would have a great chest! They probably didn't want to put resources into it, the female PC was easier. Because I would've wanted chest hair. Lots and lots of  chest hair.

 

Having the PC wake up naked and alone gave a spin to the romance that doesn't feel intended. It's one thing to leave without saying anything the morning after, it's another thing to leave your LI in a semi-public place, nearly outdoors, with no blanket and no clothing on an itchy bale of hay. Given the relationship you have with Blackwall and his personality, that act just doesn't fit. It took me out of the game for a moment, because I was like, this is so not his character. Not even when he's conflicted and lying and prepping himself to the hangman's noose. He would still cover up his love, and leave her protected.

 

If they really wanted to have her wake up naked, they should've gone back to the quizzie's room. I mean, she has that great big bed. It wouldn't be so bad to wake up naked in your own bed.

 

Still, it wasn't so bad to me and I forgave him for the leaving pretty easily. As for sleeping with my character when she didn't know who he was -- that part didn't bother me at all. It was my inquisitor pushing him, and it was always clear he was head over heels in love with her. Not that being in love excuses anything, but I would've felt a greater betrayal if he'd been lying about his feelings rather than lying about his past. All in all, I liked his messed up reasoning, because it made him real and flawed.

 

I also get where the writers were coming from. They wanted to have this angst romance of "I'm leaving because I love you too much not to be the best man I can be, and that means I have to die for my past actions. But I can't let you know that I'm doing this, because I stupidly think you'll be happier to never know the truth. I will feel all noble and sacrifice like, while deciding for you that you will be better off without me. And we can have this last night of passionate love, because how can I turn you down and make you feel like I'm rejecting you on this last night we will ever spend together, before I go to my death??" Oh, the torturous love angst! (Anyone ever watch Charmed? Cole and Phoebe. Talk about someone lying about who they were.... and leaving... and I loved them together.)

 

I would only change two things. One, a blanket or the bedroom. Two, a scene after the judgment. Okay, three... more scenes in general with some bare chestedness! But that's just me being greedy, grabby hands.

 

@Rysaki - You can choose the 'friend' option during the bar scene, and just talk. I did a save for that, to see what happens (was wondering if there was a second option down the line), but everything went on just as normal. Dual dagger dalish, activate!

When she's not like, alone and exposed.

It didn't feel gratuitous to me in the TnA sense, since it wasn't sexy...which I did appreciate, given the context.....just gratuitous in the unnecessary way.

@Sab: Yeah, pretty much agree with you and everyone else that there should have been something a bit more substantive after the judgment. I don't entirely mind the way, way, public display of affection, but...yeah, there needed to be some serious talking after that - lol. Also, definitely would have appreciated some coverage or using the Quizzy's bedroom. I mean, geez, if you're going to buy the most expensive beds in Orlais, you might as well get some use out of them.

I'd advise against using the Free Marches bed, the one with the fancy curtains around it. It completely blocked the camera in one of Iron Bull's scenes and made the whole thing a scene of me awkwardly staring at red drapes.

Yeah, exactly! I'm all for some sexy nudity, or nudity when it's realism (foreign films do this well), but that scene just seemed out of place and awkward. All I could think was, ouch, that hay has got to be itchy.

I thought the nudity in Cass's scene was done so well. It was a very realistic, natural scene that was not OOH BEWEEBBS but was just a happy, in love couple being comfortable with each other.

 

Sera's was super cute too, and Dorian, ahahah. Dat booty. 

 

Really this was the only nudity I was like "eh" on.

Finally caught up with the thread, and man did I miss out on some fine drama! 

 

Guys, I hated the naked in the barn scene too, and tbh I can't understand why they even thought it was a good idea to end it like that. Of course people would freak out about it! I have no problem with him leaving, but as I said a few days ago: GIVE HER A GODDAMN BLANKET OR SOMETHING YOU DOUCHE! The whole naked and exposed thing was unnecessary.

 

And for heavens sake, the man is a lot of things. He's a liar, a coward, a murderer and a bastard. But he is not a freaking rapist! But hey, maybe my PC's are attracted to a lot of rapists because I went with Anders (not his real identity) and Alistair (who I'm pretty sure I've slept with before he revealed his real identity). The whole argument is so stupid I don't even know what to say.
