@marlena: You sound just like me! I did pretty much the same thing. Blackwall became my tank, and I took him everywhere. Plus, dual daggers assassin rogue, here! Dorian was the absolute best. I loved the assassin convo. I also liked the little bit you get from Leliana with that, mentioned Zevran. I was like, oh? You have a friend who is an assassin? Tell me more!

 

I'm still stuck on making the perfect guy to romance Dorian with, because he's my bff and must have perfection! I'm also making a girl for Cullen, so I can do the templar path (which I haven't seen yet). I want to do the mage path with Dorian again, just because, Dorian!

 

I've got my little elf for Dorian all set and he's already flirted once with him .  They will be cute together.

 

Yeah, I wish we could have met Zevran in the game instead of just reading his notes .    I wonder what path my elf boy will take.  He's a mage so he prolly will do one of the other two.

Okay, now I'm curious, What's the name of the thread? I've seen so much demented bullsh*t on different forums that it doesn't bother me too much.

 

Back to things that truly matter, like shirtless Blackwall chopping wood, because we were robbed of this scene in the game. Okay, there is a scene of Blackwall chopping wood in the game, but there's too much clothes in it.

I haven't searched for this insane thread yet, but I will use the balm that is this lovely pic you link to guard me from the hate.    I love the cute little blush!

Vis-a-vis Blackwall turning things around on you...I sort of get where that comes from. He had pretty much resolved himself to die, and then the Inquisitor kind of yanked him back from the brink of that. I think it was partially a matter of frustration and this emotional response because a large part of what he did was to protect the Inquisitor from having her reputation tainted by him.

 

And then what happens after all that? Depending on what you do, you either 1) calls in political favors and pulls strings for him by using Josephine's option, 2) maybe gets some people killed by using Cullen's option or 3) does something slightly shady by replacing him with someone already sentenced to death using Leliana's option.

 

In essence, I think he thinks he's corrupted the Inquisitor on some level and then sort of lashes out - it's certainly not deserved, and obviously, he's not in the best position to be making judgments about something like that, but I kind of get the response. It's like, really??? Did you really just say that after everything I did? 

 

At any rate, if a character were perfect and did everything right, they wouldn't be nearly as interesting for me. It's like how I understood how Kaidan was pissy on Horizon and didn't just jump into Shepard's arms. Everyone was all upset about it, but I pointed out that it was a completely normal and human response for him to be upset.

I kind of took it that he was concerned that the Inquisitor was ruining the reputation of Josie and thus herself and the inquisition over him.  He was like, I don't deserve this; let me rot.  I didn't see his comment as self serving in any way.  Maybe if I took the Cullen or Leliana options I would have seen things differently but he was definitely more concerned about her damaging herself by doing this for him.

I loved this! Can't wait for the next chapter. (Also, looks like we independently chose the exact same name for our Trevelyans. Feeling seriously weirded out, lol)

Hahaha! Her name was the result of a random whim on my part, weirdly enough. I was stumped about what to call the character at first, because I didn't want to use either of my characters' names. Then I went, hmm, maybe a nice Welsh name that might be apropos for a Marcher...that, and I figured I might as well sneak in a teensy nod to my Irish-Welsh heritage.

Although looking at my Quizzies' names, there may be some similarities there. I must be falling into a rut name-wise, but if it works, it works! Anyway, ty all - the feedback has reduced that urge to nervously vomit that I was having (if you look up anxiety in the dictionary, my name is probably right there - lol).

Yeah, at the end the day, I think that's pretty much it. Also, it's been a pretty crazy rollercoaster by the time you get to the jidgment. I think everyone's emotionally raw under the circumstances, and neither Blackwall nor the Inquisitor is in a good frame of mind at that point. I get his reaction, but I also think you can't help but cringe a bit at the accustorial tone.

I went through his personal quest hoping the same and never got an option, so I ended up having to backtrack to Haven.

@ Bugsie, I like how forlorn he looks there lol.  He could probably use a knit hat though .  I guess our Quizzy had to text him because she didn't feel like going all the way to the barn again.

A week without internet.....thought I was going to expire.

Gotta finish so I can start a new game and romance Blackwall again.

I've done both, but I didn't think there was more, really? Granted, Cullen's date is slightly less creepy than Blackwall's (but that's why we love ya buddy, who else takes us to piles of bones?), but it seemed like about the same amount of content...I also didn't finish the Cullenmance, but I was at the Arbor Wilds part with tha, so I imagine it coudn't have been too much more after that?

I finally posted Chapter 1 of that story I've been working on (I could probably still edit it more, but whatever). Well, here's the first chapter - unless I change my mind and take it down for further editing/rewrites (or because I'm just plain insanely hypercritical of my own work).

Great fic.  I loved your detail and you  captured exactly how I see Blackwall, drowning in his own shame such a constant that he doesn't know how to feel otherwise.  Beautiful job.

Quick question. I have seen a few people mention that Blackwall asks the inquisitor if she is all right after a fight where she gets hurt. I am almost to the end of the game and have never heard this. Is this specific to certain parts of the game? How hurt do you have to get? Or am I just really unlucky not to have ever heard him say this?

I only ever got the dialogue on the Storm Coast, trying to close a rift 3 levels above my current one. Died about 3 times and heard the phrase twice from memory.

About the judgement scene, Blackwall had a sort of idealized vision of the Inquisition, like he did with the Wardens and possibly the Inquisitor. To him, it was an all-around good and heroic force to purge all evil from the world and anything less than noble and heroic was against its very nature. When he saw that the Inquisitor could resort to some downright criminal stuff to get what s/he wants, it kind of tainted this ideal for him. His reaction was amplified by his emotional state, which was mess at the time. I actually don't think it's wrong of him to judge the Inquisitor's actions. It's not like he's denying his own crimes by doing that. I'm pretty sure all of us have lied at least once in our lives, it doesn't mean we're not allowed to condemn lying.

 

I hope it all makes at least some sense, because I'm really tired right now and am making an effort to sound as coherent as possible, lol.
