This really is turning into a discussion about semantics. Can't we all just agree that what Blackwall the kid did was wrong but it's also understandable?

My last post was actually meant to be me dropping the subject. It's read best in a defeated tone.

But since my views match your compromise(I understand why he did it, just disagree with his choice vehemently), then yes.

Holy **** are you guys seriously debating the story about that impoverished dog that got killed?

Reinier back then was just a young, small kid! To ferverishly say stuff like "But it's wrong" for something that a small kid do, especially in that kind of situation, is just... I don't know, petty?

And it's not like he doesn't feel bad about it.

Now, the thing that he did with his squad? Now that was hideous. But that dog story? It's silly if you get caught up with that to assign faults to him as a human.

hah, we're pretty much on an endless cycle of discussing the dog story, his crime, gushing about his romance, beard adoration and then back to how worthy of redemption he really is.

Glad I spent the morning at the museum re-learning all about the indigenous people of my country.

I think I know why I have an affinity for Blackwall, my country's western heritage is founded on colonial criminal scum.  Although technically my family arrived after the fact 150 years later I can't help but embrace the dirtbag beginnings of my partner and friends descendants.

Ah well, you're obviously a *insert blank and blank assumption* according to the logic of the internet.  Dealing, as modern descendants, of those forebears whose behaviour was criminal at worst, questionable at best is an interesting conundrum for those living now not wanting to repeat it and not wanting to be labelled by it.  Most of us have this past through no fault of our own.

Here, thread lovelies, have a contemplative Blackwall.  (Spoiler tags used because I have no idea how to shrink the picture in the post itself.)

Clearly we need to break the cycle by writing some fic.

I have a huge pile of notes of stuff I wanted to write about, but didn't have time between hanging with family on the holidays. One thing I have learned from my inlaws - living in the middle of nowhere and being slightly antisocial at times does pretty much murder your sense of tact.

I gotta feel sympathy for Blackwall rejoining the rest of the world. :P

Damn, people need to get off the poor guy's nuts a bit, especially about that dog ****. I doubt half a fifth of you would do anything in his place. And as for the actual heinous crime, that was in the past.

He's dedicated his life to making up for the man he once was. That's a mile and a half worth more than half the shitheads in Thedas can say. Blackwall was willing to throw his life away to pay for his crimes, when he didn't even have to. That's the sign of a redeemed man.

I'm not bangen him, but if I was, I'd be proud. Blackwall is the man.

There is one thing about Blackwall, he stands up and faces his past, not dewy eyed about what he did wrong.  He's actively trying to be a better man, maybe there is an element of selfishness to that too, but the outcome is positive for others as well so I really can't fault it for him taking a measure of pride in what honour he has left.

I'm doing that now whilst I have a spare hour before interruptions begin again.

I just dumped Blackwall. I FELT AWFUL. People led me to believe that he was all relieved and fine if you ended it when he comes to Quzzie's room, but he was a big ball of self loathing.

Of course my Lav is a jerk she was like "Bye" and went off to look for shinies to make it it up to Solas for punching him (working so far!) but I felt terrible, lmao.

@colonel: That colorfully sums up our collective position I think. While he did a very bad thing in his past life, he has shown a genuine desire to atone and has pretty much done everything in his power to change - to the point that he was ultimately willing to take responsibility for his crime despite it resulting in an instant death sentence (at the time, he had no reason to think that the Inquisitor was going to ride in to the rescue - so yes, it was a brave thing).

He took it badly but he approved :P

I do like how my Quizzy could call him out on trying to shove it all on her shoulders.

Well, I couldn't get Solas to love Nug (that's my Lav's name, I panicked at CC, whatever ) in time for Adamant, so she's romancing Cullen, and afterwards she's going to make him take lyrium again (ending the relationship) and then hopefully get Solas off that sweet Greatly Approves from disbanding the wardens + making Cole a spirit. Hey, I said she's a jerk! But she's romancing Solas in the end, so she'll get her karma, lmao.

Poor Blackwall. Dumped and he's getting dragged along while Nug disbands the Wardens. I wonder if I'll finally see his leaving/lowest disapproval scene? Have any of y'all triggered it? I have hit the first disapproval scene a few times, but never the "I'm outtie, you're a bunch of thugs" one.

I hope that was 'oops I'm a bit late to the thread' kind of mod post. Because I don't see anything unwelcoming in the last few pages.

Speaking of griffons, I am almost tempted to make a miniature wooden one (I lack the sufficient tools/access to do Blackwall's full blown wooden griffon justice.)

Running around Crestwood and got a really good dialogue between Blackwall and Dorian.

Spoiler

This is why I love these guys. AW they are totally getting along. <3 This is one of my favorite bits of serious banter I've hit, just because both of them are addressing some poor behavior they both had.

Just had to share!

@Keala <3 I've not heard that, I heard Solas talk and apology but not Dorian.

Team Double Date as I call it (Cadash, Blackwall, Dorian, Iron Bull) seems to be FULL of chattering tonight.

Blackwall: Don't the horns make it hard to lie down? How do you sleep?

Iron Bull: Soundly, while propped up on a bed of oiled, writhing virgins.

Gonna take IB out more now I'm playing a mage. (Was a warrior in my first and took Blackwall nearly everywhere.)

I tried to get a video of the apology one, but trying to trigger it again didn't work out (I am pretty sure that as soon as the game sees Fraps recording, it stops firing banter). I absolutely love the voice acting in this game, it's fantastic (I have a serious appreciation for the work that goes into that stuff).

The voice acting is top notch, without a doubt.

I particularly like Miranda Raison's VA work, (and Alistair's naturally!)
