Does anyone know what the Chevalier insignia looks like? In case if it's been mentioned or illustrated in the tabletop RPG sourcebooks, etc.
Chevaliers wear yellow quill as mark of their ranks.

yeah, but they would obviously have some sort of banner or flag... wasnt one of the side quests in MOTA to collect chevalier banners for carver?
meh, i dont think they would make him both.... i guess there's still hope for it being michel
I just rewatched the latest trailer. There is a glimpse of GW officer, I guess (sorry for the quality, just a quick crop).

Wings are raised, griffon has one head. Looks similar to the Beardy concept art, no?
This insignia is different from what we had in Dragon Age 2.

I guess they have their crest and it probably bird.

Still it is different from amulet in Warden's hand. One in GW's Hand is more styilized for bird.
There is also this shot, but it's more bleary.

I just hope this guy is not Nate, because he'll die in a second.
Beardy has the same insignia (the one of the Warden officer) in his armour in the trailer.I guess they have their crest and it probably bird.

I know. I think he is former chevalier.
I have a theory. It might be the light, but the Wardens the Inquisition fights in the trailer seem to have black uniforms instead of blue, while Beardy has both the Wardens insignia and the blue uniform.
Could it be the that Warden we'll fight are corrupted by someone (Corypheus?) and use a different uniform under their armours? Like the Red templars use red lyrium based weapons?
A few people speculated that these wardens might be working for Corypheus. It could also be that they deserted the order, making an fight with them possible. But I get the feeling this assault at the Grey warden keep might be were we recruit mr. Bara.

It is plausible. DA 2 left many questions unanswered. Who were those allies Nathaniel mentioned, what were wardens doing in the lost thaig, what was Stroud's supersecret mission in the Free Marches, what's Cory is up to. And we practically know nothing about the Order, because Alistair was a rookie, Duncan and Riordan were killed, and even in Awakening Orlesian wardens were wiped out before we get to them. That's why I'm very interested to finally get my hands on the real Grey Warden.
He could be both. A former chevalier and a recently made Warden.
It's an interesting speculation, Aimo. So far I believed that in the concept he was leaving the Wardens, but you raised good points.
I agree with this, minus the recently part. I personally want an experienced Warden over a recently recruited one
we will find out eventually, who knows maybe he is neither a chevalier or warden but from some other group we have yet to see... maybe an ex venatori... though due to the relation of symbols on them, dhmg is more likely to be that person

That the Wardens abandoned him to be hanged sounds plausible. Explains why he was about to be executed (I don't think the Wardens would have allowed that easily), as well as his evident disgust at the Warden symbol. If it's because he opposed the First Warden getting into politics or because he campaigned in favour of fighting against the Veil Tears, or for any other reason, who knows.
Now that I take that into account, What if it's not a past event and it's a scene we'll see in Inquisition? For example, let's say there's a problem involving Wardens in one of the main quests. Since the Wardens stubbornly refuse to help the Inquisitor, our character is at a dead-end. But then someone tells the Inquisitor the story of a rebellious Warden who is going to be executed by the Orlesians (or whoever those soldiers are). Cue our party running to the gallows to stop it before it's too late and get his support and his vital information.
Or maybe the artwork with him taking off that amulet thing is something that happens in the game?
Oh wow! That'd be an awesome scene!Or maybe the artwork with him taking off that amulet thing is something that happens in the game?
But Beardy has the Warden insignia in his armour's chest in the trailer. Why would he has it if he's not a Warden/former Warden?
from the pic in the trailer, that doesnt look like wardens crest to me... it is certainly some crest, but it doesnt look like it matches with the rest of the pics for warden's armor

Bearded Warden pulling off medalion strongly implies that he is no more with the warden ideology... Whether it is about corypheus or the secret which will be revealed in the book "Last Flight" or something entirely different, we will see... I am also curious about the "wardens being up to something"...
But I hope he is a warm heartened big guy... Like in the "tavern" concept art... Really fits

OHH, if this is a happened in-game, it'll be something like Cool Guys Don't Look At Explosions. Only sans fire and explody things, with (Davidoff Cool) water droplets instead.
I also suddenly remembered about the Orlesian woman whom we met at the Denerim market in DA:O, who talks about the kind of cruelty Chevaliers and Orlesian nobility are capable of towards commoners, especially when they feel personally slighted. Maybe Bara Warden isn't a chevalier, just happened to be a commoner who got on the wrong side of a chevalier or an Orlesian VIP's graces (or he could be a noble himself who lost the Game of Thrones, so to speak). Maybe whatever it is happened before DA:I, maybe it was the impetus for him to join the Wardens to escape a horrible fate in their hands (as with Genevieve's recruitment of Duncan, Duncan with Warden Tabris, etc), and in-game events has his past catching up with him as part of a personal quest. And concept art is after the gang rescues him from the gallows, enabling the cool manpain shot. What's the significance of the amulet ripping? Could be anything really.

how absolutely perfect would it be, though, if this IS a recruitment scene? you're finally on the other end of the crappy choice you're given in Origins. "Hello, Ser Bara Warden! What a fine day to help a cause you never intended to join. You have a choice, of course, OF COURSE you have a choice. You can suffer and die horribly right here and now. . .or, OR, just hear me out, I can conscript you into the Inquisition! And you will likely suffer and die horribly anyway, but much much later. Howzzat sound? Now drink this. . ."
love it.
