So I started a new run through and was determined to get Blackwall to say "Are you ok, love." I just completed storm coast with just the two of us on normal with norhing. I died 33 times and spent 90% of the time under 20% health. So either I am the unluckiest girl ever or I am missing something. Can anyone who has heard him say it tell me where you were in his relationship arc? After skyhold but before commitment? After his um date? I waited to go until after we committed to a relaitionship. So if if you could just let me know that would be great. I am starting to feel unloved by my broody beard.

 

Err, did you have the quest to seal up all the darkspawn tunnels (Keeping the Darkspawn Down)? Because I think the consensus is that the "Are you alright, love?" thing only happens on this quest. Personally, I think Blackwall ought to say it ALL the time. Err..well, you know, not all the time...just every so often after combat maybe. *cough*

Weirdly, I got it when I kinda slid down a hill and lost a small amount of HP. I wasn't sure I heard it right until it happened again later. I was on the storm coast, and I think it was during the darkspawn quest.

Head cannon, now I picture him saying it whenever the Inquisitor has been picking plants on cliffs and rolling down the hills. He must worry a lot about all her rock climbing antics.

Hmm, so did that happen while you had the darkspawn quest active, or did it just happen randomly? Also, I can't believe I let darkspawn beat the crap out of me when I could've just slid down a hill - doh!

I think it was active but I don't know for sure. Yeah, cliffs are good. It was cute because it was such a short fall.

Came across this outfit today around Redcliffe.  Well I think it was Redcliffe.  Maybe that's where I was when I insisted he wear it.

Bugsie's picture reminds me of banter I just had between IB and Blackwalll. (paraphrased because I didn't write it down)

Yes I do have the quest Keeping the darkspawn down active. The only thing that comes close is he will occasionally say "is everyone all right?" Right after a fight. But nothing directly to me. I just restarted the storm coast. Made sure I had the darkspawn quest and bumped the difficulty to hard. I died 10 times to a single darkspawn alpha and Blackwall must be wondering what my deal is. Why is the mage standing right in front of the darkspawn with the really big hammer?

@desiranna: Maybe you can try sliding off a hill like Keala did then - or actually jumping off one? I guess as long as you take damage of some kind, he could say the magic words. And yes, I bet he had similar thoughts when I rushed in and charged the darkspawn with my mage - lol.

Did anyone find how to make this armor because I really wanted to have him wear this for more than just Redcliff?

So after 10 minutes of throwing myself off a cliff and using regen potions to heal I teleported back to the starting camp to resupply. The strangest thing happened. I decided to really quick use the occularam to the north, before throwing myself off another cliff. Goodness only knows what he thinks of that.

Well, after about 5 steps, he says the magic words. I stopped and was like what? I a, not even hurt. At all... So I tested. Having a sciency background i simply had to. Well every single time i teleport back and head north he will say something. Is everyone all right. That is that. It is over. And are you alright love. Every single time. Maybe it is a bug. And maybe this is silly, but I may never complete the darkspawn quest and just come back every once in a while to hear him.


Thanks for all the help everyone. And if anyone else is on this part it would be great to see if it works for anyone else or is just a rare bug.

I finished the darkspawn quest a long, long time ago, and he just went "Are you all right, love?" Wow, Desiranna has made the most amazing discovery EVER!

I will repeat that I finished the quest - it is right there on my completed quest list...but he said it anyway. Also, everyone else seems to have banter. I mean, Cole is certainly saying things that I haven't even heard before. Time to speculate then: does this mean that Blackwall should MAYBE be saying it occasionally after combat everywhere else if you're in a romance? Unless this was supposed to be limited to the Storm Coast.

Oh yeah, I kind of ran close to the edge of the cliff on the left while heading towards the ocularum, FYI. I think where you run seems to have something to do with it triggering. Just keep teleporting and running back until you hear it!

I figured out what my problem was - I hadn't actually activated the "darkspawn on the storm coast" quest, haha *facepalm*. I thought simply killing some random darkspawn on the coast would do. So when I actually started this quest, he checked up on me immediately after killing the first bunch of hurlocks. He also did it a couple of times after I slid off a hill and after killing some bears, one time when I wasn't even injured, lol. 

 

I'll try that out, Desiranna!

I now know why I never heard this in my game ... he doesn't say it! I found the point where you run towards the ocularum, but all Blackwall repeats for me is, "That's the end of that."

 

I experimented with different save points, with the quest open & finished, different points in the romance arc -- but no matter what, he just tells me that's the end of that. Nooooo. I am a sad panda.

 

edit: Guess this means, I'll just have to romance him again. For science!
