I'm obviously joking. Most of my best DA friends have different opinions than me, and I think it's awesome because I like to hear them. 

 

It's more to do with how it's funny that "trash" has this dual meaning in fandom, esp on Tumblr, where you can use it to mean something you dearly love or something that you think is worthless, and sometimes the wires cross and it's funny.

Yeah a lot of my DA friends have differing opinions to me. Especially on the romance side. Most of my female friends went for Cullen, the apparent Garrus/Kaidan combo of DA. I went back to DA:O prior to the game because I barely remembered him, and I didn't understand why everyone was crazy for him, he just seemed like a stereotype Templar who'd gone a little crazy after what he saw, not much to hold an interest in me at the time. I'm really not a Kaidan fan (he's okay) but I'm totally batshit crazy for Garrus, so if Cullen even has a tiny measure of the Garrusmance, I'm all in.

Ahhh tumblr the best and the worst of fandom.

Yup I'd say the majority of my dragon age friends, especially IRL ones, cry over Solas (barf. i love solas but i don't wanna cry over him i wanna make fun of him lmao), hate Sera, and think Blackwall is boring. Which they are all entitled to and I enjoy hearing their opinions and chatting through our differences. 

 

I use Tumblr and the BSN pretty equally.... well, probably BSN more lately but that's more due to the fact that a lot of my Tumblr friends do have different areas of interest than me and I want to come here to talk about dwarves, Sera, and Blackwall....but overall, they're both full of idiots but have a minority of awesome people that make up for it and keep me coming back.

Kaidan was alright - stable, mostly even-tempered but not entirely exciting. Also, I hated his hair! I liked him well enough, that one issue aside. Still, I obviously prefer a bit more complexity vis-a-vis Blackwall.

 

EDIT: And that's probably why I ended up with Thane for a while, heh.

I always felt strictly platonic about Kaidan, like he was my comrade and fellow soldier.

ME was all Garrus fever for me, good times. Even with the debacle that was ME3 the romance path was da bomb. Always felt sorry for friends who were Thane or Jacobmancers.

Kaidan got all uppity and wanted his "own life" and I was like, screw that I'm going with the dinosaur bird that knows his place.


....I mean, Garrus just has a better romance, I do still like Kaidan, but he didn't get the greatest content after me1.

Aww, I loved Kaidan, lol. I know a lot of people found him plain or boring. It seemed with him there was a lot left unsaid, so you could really create this rich, very layered character. There was so much that he went on to do while she was gone, and I love growth and a good character arc. It got me that he started off her subordinate, but through the course of the games he really found his footing and his confidence and became her equal. Maybe I just create a lot of story in my head! lol

 

Of course, I'm a little biased because I pretty much just played one Shep in that game (with Kaidan) which had an alternate universe for Thane. I went back and made a fake save for her, to do some of the Garrus romance, but never followed it through. The ending of the third bummed me out on the game for a while, and I never went back to complete my Garrus run. I did enjoy the date shooting rifles together, though!

 

I have a soft spot for game characters, I just love them all! Kaidan, Thane & Garrus were like my Blackwall, Dorian & Sera for this game. I love them all, but Blackwall and Kaidan just

He's great! Hehe, I like to make fun of him but that's how I show love. I just wish his arc in 3 especially had been more developed. It makes me sad how similar Ash and his are, considering how different they are.

Just kidding.  I have 2 that romanced Garrus and even though Kaidan will always be my numero uno ME romance...Garrus had the better romance I think.  But Kaidan is still #1.  Don't forget! 

 

Anyways.  I finally started another pt for Blackwall.  I deleted so many.  Hopefully this girl makes it past Haven 

 

I gave up on Tumblr.  I just can't stomach that place anymore.  I may delete my page soon.  I rarely visit it

 

Kaidan was always my ME fave and Alistair was my DA fave....until Blackwall came and stole my heart completely.

It's okay, we like Kaidan. I wonder what he'd look like in the Frostbite engine? Except the hair of course it does a great job of rendering such great faces but the hair, I just can't get over how awful it is the more I play. And I was playing around with beards on my Hawke last night, ended up with a 3 day growth and a part buzz cut because I couldn't get the colouring or the hairstyle right.

The exception is for most of the main characters - they look great. Blackwall's beard looks great and Alistair and Loghain, wow, Phwoaaaar!

I can't get any of my girls too look good in make up.  In CC they look great.  Load in the game....CLOWN FACE.  Hair color is always not what I want. 

 

I have to agree about the beards too.  The one man Inquisitor I made just went for stubble because none of the rest looked as good at Blackwalls!

I wish his arc had been more developed too, but since Thane really got the short end of the stick and I didn't finish with Garrus (in ME3), I wasn't sure if that was me being greedy or not!

 

I've gotten so used to trash talking the person I like,  I don't even think about it anymore. Reading tags on favorites in tumblrs, the worse the abuse the more loved the character   I like tumblr, when I stay on my dash and with lots of things blacklisted. You get some great art and comments and gifsets, especially for bigger fandoms. I haven't been on too much lately, though, since I've been all about da:i and Blackwall. I can only have one obsessional interest at a time

 

I have a love/hate relationship with the CC. Some parts are great, some parts are so awful that I want to tear my hair out. No... their hair out. Those hairstyles... ughhh. So much ugh. Then the beards... I've been trying to make a male dwarf, and I really want him to have a beard, but it's so hard to get it to look like it wasn't just stuck on with glue a la SNL.  Actually, no, SNL does a better job with their pasted on beards, so nevermind. The scruff is good, that's what my guy for Dorian has. I wish there were more scruff options, since that's the thing that looks good, but I can live with it. I don't know if it's my color calibrations, but the haircolor always looks off. There's only a few colors that I like, and the black always goes blue-ish. Dorian looks wonderful, and doesn't turn blue, but when I made a guy he had really blue eyebrows. I couldn't play him. Too distracting. Blue hair would be one thing (actually, yes please, give it to me), but blue eyebrows? No.

 

At least, I finally have an Adaar I'm in love with! Also, a mage for Cullen & a guy for Dorian, but making the Qunari was the hardest for me. Talk about not getting that many hair options!!

My straight female Shepard doesn't have anybody now. Kaidan dies on Virmire(always felt like it was the correct choice plotwise since it helps Ashley break the Williams curse), Jacob cheats, Thane dies, and Garrus hooks up with Tali.

lmao, yesss....out of likes, but ahahhaa. oh solas, you deserve a punch to the face tbh. i mean i don't condone it and obv that's like a "horrifying" scene but....

 

I'm a terrible person and I'm currently romancing Solas with a Lavellan who hated him so much she punched him but while she was off breaking Blackwall and Cullen's hearts, she found enough of his shinies to get back in his good graces and they have a combative but much more interesting relationship than the one I tried to do first who just went along with him all the time.

When I made that choice, I let Ash die primarily because I was a Soldier so she was a little redundant in the team's skillset (while I love my RP reasons for things, sometimes I just gotta be practical). I was totally romancing Kaidan, though, so then there's that. I honestly would do a romance him and let him die one if it caused good story angst, but I've heard it doesn't.

I was a little disappointed that it never came up in game that effectively for Shepard they were together within the last month (since she was dead then being put back together). For him, it was 2 years, and subsequently, it's probably an awfully big kick for a Shepard that romance him. (...although fic opportunities, which I guess is just what my brain does)

Bugsie - me, too, on hoarding. I had almost 60 hours I was going to forfeit if not used. My coworkers have been giving me this "you work too hard" lecture so I took it to heart finally (I fear my inbox, to say nothing of my vacation from my nonprofit, I haven't checked mail in 8 days, I fear what I will find). What do you do for work?

I got the scene today with the rocking griffin being done. Aw. Who else is thinking of the kids? Not many people. It was very sweet.

Also, had a serious wtf moment with Viv. She gave me this big thing about thinking Cass should be Divine, but then I get a war table operation to support her. WTF Viv. We talked about this.

Cole was actually quite supportive; he always knew the score. But his offhand references would freak anyone out I imagine.

Even without romancing Kaidan I still left Ash on Virmire in most playthroughs. And yeah read some really great fics on the whole Horizon thing.

I'm an agricultural scientist. I work mostly with pest and diseases, hence my moniker Currently only part time cos I have a little one. I had 8 weeks leave owing I agreed to take 5, I'm about half way through and its gone faster than I would have liked!

Thankyou, the family has been a bit up and down the last 18months or so, but, you know, life, does these things.

As for beta readers, thanks for the offer! I had an idea for a humour fic for Blackwall but it's just a seed of an idea.

In regard to Viv, can you actually make her the Divine?

Yeah, I had the clown face happen with my first Inquisitor. Apprxoimately eleven hours later, I decided that I couldn't stand it anymore and started over - lol. Second Inquisitor had duck lips, but I was like...eh, she looks alright...mostly. And by then Blackwall had struck, so I just rolled with it (the romance train was not going to stop at that point). Thankfully, Quizzy #3 is better - probably because I didn't deviate too much from the default settings, lol.
