I didn't take Cole out too much my first game, since I was a dual dagger rogue, but am really enjoying having him come along now. I've gotten several great banters between him and Blackwall.
Hello Blackwall fans... I have a potentially serious situation on my hands! I'm nearly 100 hours into the game (though I have a lot of stuff to do still - I am big on exploration and so far, I have only thoroughly explored the Hinterlands, Fallow Mire, Storm Coast and Western Approach). My female Inquisitor did flirt with Blackwall in Haven. It's been about 50 hours since I got to Skyhold and did NOT choose the flirt option with Blackwall on the ramparts, because I kind of thought there might be a few more avenues for accessing a romance with him, since there seem to be more than a couple with the other companions... and it didn't really seem appropriate to flirt since he was being serious about checking the ramparts for defensibility. But now, having just finished his "Memories of the Grey" quest in hope that would give me a few more dialogue options with him than I've had since the rampart scene (it didn't), I am starting to think I blew it! If you fail to flirt with him on the ramparts, does that end the romance arc for him? I looked it up on the wiki and it does seem to indicate that if you don't flirt with him there you're out of luck, but I thought I might ask for a second opinion from you all...
I have to decide whether I need a romance badly enough to reload my first arrival at Skyhold and replay 50-some hours of the game... 
Blackwall's the only romance my Inquisitor would really be inclined to go for.
Kitai is going to be for Sera. She really is. I am determined. (She's adorable when you flirt with her. Tonight she told my Adaar how much she loves talking to her and it made me ahhhh.) But Blackwall is just so damned cute. And the height difference is killing me. And his leaning. Always leaning. Now I'm thinking of the barn kiss, and the leaning.... unnnff.
Blackwall and a Qunari the closest DA has gotten to a dwarf romance.

This sounds so much like me when I finished the game. ALL THESE THINGS!!! 
I absolutely loved the end sequence and saying that line about the name. I might've made a save right before you go to your quarters, so that I could replay that scene over and over again. Maybe.
I'm having so much fun starting up a male quizzie for Dorian. Happiness. I had a hard time not flirting with Blackwall on my character for Sera, but I just got to skyhold and didn't take the heart option on the rooftop. So I think I'm in the clear now, since you have to do that one to start the romance up. (They really should make that more clear for people, too!!)
I wish there were extra little scenes for all characters, even if you don't romance them, like there were for Sera & her rooftop sitting. I'm going to miss running down to the barn and getting my little scene in between outings.
I made a 'squishy' qunari mage who needs blackwall's help with not getting hit on the battlefield.
Also, i understand why there is no blood mage spec in this game:

Yeah - loved hearing that line! But the great irony is that I absolutely, positively hate fish and seafood in general (yet I live in Hawaii, the land of delicious sea critters). Poor Blackwall, I would insist that he bring me a steak or venison or something totally not-fish. My issue with sea critters stems from a case of shrimp-related food poisoning when I was younger. And yes, I know I'm missing out on what other people consider delicious food items!
Hmm, well, if Blackwall magically materialized in my apartment and then offered to go fishing...I'd at least be willing to give fish another try (as long as he cleans it and cooks it, because I am SO not touching ANY fish - and he'd need to come equipped with some sort of killer recipe to make it palatable).

@keala: I also remember Blackwall commenting on some ship when we were running around the Storm Coast...err...Wind...something? My brain keeps wanting to say Wind Waker because of the Zelda game. If, coincidentally, it turns out that that's the name he mentioned, that would be pretty funny.

I would sooo go fishing with Blackwall. I love fishing, particularly stream fishing in the mountains. Ocean fishing in a large boat... ehh, it's okay. But it's such a production. I prefer stream or lake. We used to go camping just outside of Yosemite all the time when I was little (I'm in CA). My dad started me on a wooden stick with a line tied to it when I was five. I caught the biggest fish that day, bigger than any of the grown-ups, and I was so hooked. I also have fond memories of going out with me and my grandma, lake fishing. She taught me what it was to be patient and quiet, to just be. I imagine Blackwall like that, sitting with a pole in a boat, in the middle of a lake. Just... being.
However, it's fish I like, not really shellfish. Unless it's a clam chowder, because yum. Otherwise, everyone else can have the lobster & scallops, give me a nice seared fish and I'm good to go!
Haha, nice. I could try to load their models in 3DSmax later, for the final answer...but I srsly applaud that attempt, because I have tried to get them to stand still for height screenies so many times and wanted to scream because THEY WONT STOP MOVING, doing it at the ball is genius.
To be honest, even though I was at Halamshiral already when I decided to do my "research", it only occured to me later that I could take advantage of the time when they're standing still, heh. At first I was like "hurr durr I'm going to go into the combat zone and make them stand alongside each other. It will take all night, but it's clearly the only way." Then I saw Backwall standing absolutely still in the hall and a lightbulb went off in my head, lol.
I used to try to get my whole party in the shot for some ~family photos~ when I was out adventuring, but as soon as I go near them, they all seem to flee in horror and turn their a$$es to the camera, so I gave up.

Oh, I hate fish too, with a few exceptions. And my Dalish archer is more into hunting since whe was... well, a huntress I can imagine her agreeing to go fishing with him (only under a condition that he would wear something like this), but getting bored quickly and spending most of her time trying to shoot some fish with her bow. Or suddenly going skinny dipping to mess with him.

Cullen just cuts you down. I maxxed out all the flirts with characters where I know the romance doesn't go anywhere (Cass and Cullen) - I don't think I even tried with Solas.
So tonight I got my first romance scene with Dorian and him and Varriel were sweet as. I needed that after an unpleasant day (was at a funeral earlier today). At least you can take him back to your apartment for a kiss rather than hanging out in a barn.

I think the key is to run forward, then turn around and press pause immediately. Sometimes you manage to catch them in the right position. I tried it a few times yeasterday while hanging around the Storm Coast and waiting for party banter to trigger. One of the funniest moments in the whole game for me was when we were up to our arses - well, Blackwall's arse and Varric's waist - in the Fallow Mire and the two of them started talking about going to Markham to see the tourney. Kathlin responded with 'can you talk about SOMETHING ELSE?' meaning 'maybe the fact that we're being swarmed by corpses?!' and got 'Blackwall Disapproves'. I think it was the only time I saw that pop up after the romance started 
.
And he likes cheese wheels - well, cheese wheel-racing from Ostwick? Uh, I think...well, he watched it anyway.
