And he likes cheese wheels - well, cheese wheel-racing from Ostwick? Uh, I think...well, he watched it anyway.

This reminded me of the cheese wheel shield. It's a handy dandy cheese wheel!! Eat it as a snack! Race it down a hill!! Use it to block those annoying sword strikes after yelling duck you to the wrong person at the tourney!

Top picture, just because I can:

I still need to find that cheese shield - lol. Somehow I keep missing it (also, I hope it's made of cheddar).

I always forget to look for that shield.  I'm going there later today though, maybe I'll remember it this time.

My little mage got Blackwalls explanations quest yesterday.  Going to do that too.  Is it possible that Blackwall is even more sweet the 2nd time through? Sure feels that way.

It's not for me because I've dumped him with every character since my first.

I thought Blackwall would be the romance I couldn't stop myself from doing, but now it seems he's the romance I can't do with anyone else because he belongs with my Cadash, dammit, but I keep flirting with him because well, you know.

..I'm sure I'll get over this eventually.

He is impossible not to flirt with. It's just so much fun. And I love the flirts in Haven, because of the way he flirts back. It has me goofy smiling thinking of it. I think his early flirts are some of the best in the game, for the teasing-funness of them. The early flirts with a lot of the other companions aren't actually flirts -- as in, having them flirt back. Only Sera and Blackwall have flirted back... must be why I love them so much, lol! (I don't have Dorian yet, in these new games)

Solas flirts back as well. He points out how graceful/muscular a rogue/warrior Lavellan is, and wants to see mage Lavellan's will get dominated. ;)  If that isn't coming onto the Quizzy, I don't know what is.

Though I think Sera comes onto the Inquisitor the hardest. She's really bold with the early flirts. I'm surprised she doesn't make her interest known in party banters. I was kinda let down by the lack of jealousy banters. I know some people aren't fond of them. But they should really call you out on flirting with everyone. I miss the love interests tugging Hawke away and reminding him/her that they belong with them. I also miss Hawke's outrageous flirts. Just a little. They're hilarious. We do have a few ones that come close in Inquisition. But the Quizzy just doesn't seem to have as loud of a personality as the Warden or Hawke.

And I adore the flirts with Blackwall. I can't even count the number of times I've chosen the "There's more if you'd like. I keep them in my private quarters." option with him. I love the way he chokes, laughs, and seems super surprised that Quizzy just invited him to her bedroom. But I also love telling him that he's useful for more than just lifting heavy things. Like being cannon fodder for dragons. Snarky Quizzy with Blackwall is my canon romance for him.

I looooove snarky quizzie with him. It's just so much fun. Sera was fun -- after the first flirt, I've noticed her saying little things when you come up to her, being out and out flirty. It's fun. Plus, I'm playing an Qunari for her, so from the very first meeting, Sera was like, 'woof!' I can't actually remember the line she says when you meet her as a Qunari, something about being really fit, maybe. It's all in her tone of voice, though.

I've yet to play an elf, so I've never seen any Solas flirts. I'll have to do that!

Blackwall just tickles my toes, though, with his chuckling and he way his voice warms when he's flirting back. <3

Yeah, I love all the flirts in Haven with Blackwall. The private quarters one is one of my faves; even though I'm usually Ms. Snark, I find it just a bit more fun to make him completely flustered like that - lol.

I always do quick saves before any convo, and especially with Blackwall. I'm forever doing that particular conversation over and over again, just to hear him. I normally start with the private quarters to hear him laughing and flustered and then end with the snarky line for keeps :D

It's no wonder it takes me forever to finish games!

Confession: my first playthrough, I was really not feeling Blackwall. My Dwarf Inquisitor found Blackwall a little too serious, even boring, and ended up falling for Sera. I myself was not really keen on Blackwall after meeting him, whereas pre-release, I was excited about him because he seems to be close to my IRL age (40+), and that's rareish in games.

Fast-forward to my current Inquisitor, Lorna. I am now in a constant state of dreamy-eyed "HNNNNNNNGG" around Blackwall, and it's only getting stronger. I am finally realizing that he's an amazing character, with very believable dimensions, and man, what incredible voicework. I really don't know why my first playthrough was so "anti" Blackwall, and I cannot fathom how I ever found him dull. WTH?

Anyway, I might be back to gush. You've been warned. :)

I think the banter bug made a pretty significant blow to a lot of characters.

I myself never found Blackwall dull, but I've been taking him around with Sera, Cole, etc, and he's just...lawd, so much better.

Blackwall/Sera/Solas is awesome. Blackwall and Sera are like the immature children walking around behind, snickering and shooting spitballs at Solas' head when he's not looking. :S

Snook, I think you're right. I didn't get a lot of banters with Blackwall for the most part, but this playthrough has been more generous. Hearing his interactions has made all of the difference. Plus, the banter you posted is a total favorite-so so good!

More converts! Muahahahahaha! (I'm pretty sure it's The Beard, at least in part. That double-pointed work of art does things to people).

Also, my Blackwall tee finally arrived today, making up for a horrendous day in work. Now if Bioware would be kind enough to release a Blackwall lithograph (and another run of Dorian's), a set of the Blackwall tarot cards, or...well, Blackwall anything, I can die happy.

Please?

I was sadly disappointed by the fact that the Blackwall romance tarot card was not actually in my deck of tarot cards from the CE. I finally opened it up to check the other day after an extended period of procrastination - bah! His other three cards are there...but why not the most important one?!?! *siiiigh* Oh well. I'll just have to make do with the romance tarot in the game (psst, BioWare, you should consider a Blackwall romance tarot tee, just saying).

Heh, the beard doesn't hurt, but that voice, that magnificent rumble, like buried thunder, that really gets me. But I think my big eureka moment with Blackwall literally "kicked" in- in order to differentiate his tanky style from Cassandra's, I taught him "Grappling Chain" and its attendant perk, "Give Them the Boot." I took my party out to some shrubby corner of the Hinterlands to pick elfroot, and we got into a fight with some big bad dude with a tower shield. That's when I saw him use the skill for the first time- yank, kick, "Down you go!"- and I was just like...unff! Which sounds really weird, now that I've said it out loud, so to speak. Oh well. :D

Oooh, buried thunder. That's a great way of describing it. And not so weird at all... at least, not in here. Because reading your description I'm like, oh yeah, that sounds... unnff. Must give that to him this game. In fact, must give those skills to him right now.

Sabreenei, do it! *cheers on* It is maximum unff, in my opinion. And happily, resetting skills is a snap this time around, just in case it doesn't blow your hair back. :)

"Buried thunder"...I love that description! Yes, his voice is great. AP did an amazing job with him.

Speaking of which (courtesy of thievinghippo on Tumblr): https://www.youtube....LCQ8kYTs#t=4979 (01:23:00)

Please tell me I'm not the only one now imagining him breaking into a heartfelt musical number during the judgement scene.

@cat: I have the chain and kick on my Qunari warrior woman, and I love it. I'd never really used it before then. Thinking about it now, it seems like such a great skill for Blackwall. And he'd be so badass about it too.

@credulousalloy: Well, we always did say he was the Jean Valjean of DAI -- now I can totally hear it too!
